This is such a classic, I need to read it.
Kathy, it's a fantastic short story; I guarantee you that you'll love it.
I read this for a class back ... way back. I wasn't fond of the professor so I didn't really get into the books. I'm reading it again now.
I have it in an anthology, so I just read the preface last night that talked about Lovecraft's life. Really interesting--I thought he was a lot more successful than he was, and it hinted at a lot of sexual weirdness in his life like his dad dying of syphilis and his mom and Lovecraft having a 'love-hate' relationship. Now I'm piqued to find out more.

I don't think of this as horror at all. To me, it is more an introduction to conspiracy theory.

It's in the public domain, so Internet Archive has it as epub, kindle, etc. as well.

Well, Carly, thanks for your fiendish link as i proceed to spend the rest of my night in the community library checking out books. Sleep is overrated.I just found "Kaplan Anatomy Coloring Book." Trying to imagine that on ereader...

...oh no, now I'm going to look. And I'm supposed to be reading about streaming algorithms. You do know about Project Gutenberg, right? 100,000 or so ebooks, many with the old illustrations.
