I'm just worried I'll forget what happened in the first books by the time I get to the end."
At first reading, after last book I was sooo confused and started reading again soon. Trust me, rereading is so much fun than first reading, because everything will connect and you will see all the missed hints :)

Well he was using High Telas - so I'm assuming that's where he's sent. The "sickly" look of it could be a result of the poisoning? I guess we..."
Well, that sickly magic was probably CG saving Kallor, because nobody was "celebrating" his death after, and Rake told Korlat to leave Kallor for Dragnipur, so, he survived and escaped, unfortunately.
Loved the prologue as well. It was nice to see the (surviving) Bridgeburners enjoying retirement and it was awesome to see Duiker again. His line at the end... Tears.
I still love the Mott Irregulars but I don't really like that they are apparently powerful sorcerers who charged ahead of the army, infiltrated the city and single-handedly poned the mage defenders. I much preferred them as the armies somewhat strange but harmless (and hilarious) miscreants. Would it have killed SE to have one group of characters without awesome powers?
The decimation of the Bridgeburners was brutal. It was really annoying how easily Envy could have prevented at least some of their deaths. I assumed that she was just putting on a somewhat ditzy façade to appear harmless (the Kruppe school of deception) but here she was really dense. The scenes with Rake and Picker, Paran and QB in Moons Spawn and the mysterious stranger (I think it was Trotts) and Paran were all intense, really moving.
btw you've probably already decided on this Deano but I've heard that reading the series the whole way through and then re-reading is the way to go. That's my plan at least :D
