Josie Dew writes travelogues (sp?) about biking around places.

It sounds most like "Wind in my Wheels" ( http://www.amazon.com/Wind-My-Wheels-... ) which includes Nepal.

It might well be a reference to Dervla Murphy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dervla_M...), who has cycled in most past of the world, and who was writing travel books long, long before the concept of the 'gap year' and travel writing became fashionable.

She has written a large number of books, one of which covered a journey in Nepal.
