On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews

Megan | 21 comments Nice. Can't wait to read this one. :)

Brianna | 64 comments I remember really liking it, even though I missed the gritty UF feel of the Kate Daniels series. Ilona Andrews is such an amazing writing team. :)

Oleander | 39 comments I'll add this one to my May list

Leesa (leesalogic) I liked this book. I liked the world and the division of regular, magic, and in between. I loved the little brothers.

I plan to continue the series.

K. | 96 comments I loved this book!! I thought the way the world was divided was very clever. Rose is a great character. She is loyal to her family and very strong willed. She isn't so perfect that I cannot relate to her. I keep hoping that she will get a happy ending throughout the book because she deserves it so much! I love Jack and George. I really hope they get their own series one day!!

Stephanee | 40 comments Love this series. One of my many favorites :)

Nikki (withererose) Love Illona Andrews works so I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy this one :) I bought it instead of the library since I wanted to add it to my I. Andrews collection :) so excited to read it :)

Megan | 21 comments Well, I'm done with this book already, so I think it's safe to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. :) Andrews write such great characters. I loved them all! Rose is a great heroine.

Sara | 75 comments Love this series. The characters were so much fun. One of my favorite quotes was "Stop trying to resurrect the shoes. They were never alive in the first place."

Vera M. I read this a few months back. Really enjoyed it.

message 13: by Dana (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dana (danarlynn) havent checked in for a long time. I have read this book twice, I loved it so much. But I have enjoyed everything by Andrews.

Amyiw | 175 comments Read this a couple months back. Still have the last one to read.

I liked this in a very different way than Andrews' Kate Daniels series. Kate is very UF where this felt like a very good balance of UF with PNR. I think I would read anything that Andrews writes at this point.

Loved this series.

Couldn't have said it better myself!!!

Nikki (withererose) So I finished this book pretty quick and I already read the second one ( Bayou Moon (The Edge, #2) by Ilona Andrews ) which was fantastic! and just picked up the third one Fate's Edge (The Edge, #3) by Ilona Andrews can't wait to read it :D

Me, too!

I am a third through the book and I really like the community she has developed here, complete with the whole family honor justice system. And I love that this is a heroine in the midst of dangerous poverty, it kind of reminds me of the movie Winter's Bone, with magic!

Also, the action is particularly tense in this one, I find myself on the edge of my seat a lot, which is refreshing!

Kat Klein | 151 comments Great book, and great series. Ilona Andrews is brilliant, and this is as good in its own way as Kate Daniels.

Michael Now I am two-thirds through the book and have discovered the major spoiler: (view spoiler)

message 20: by June (new) - rated it 5 stars

June Stevens (curvywriter) | 7 comments I love the setting. The world building in this novel is spectacular, and so different from the Kate Daniels books.

Nikki (withererose) I have read the first 3 novels and will be picking up the next one next payday hopefully and hoping its just as good as the others. I absolutely love this series! and anything by Andrews lol

Amyiw | 175 comments Michael wrote: "Now I am two-thirds through the book and have discovered the major spoiler: [spoilers removed]"

I got that (view spoiler)

My very first impression of the first book was surprise and very unsure if I was going to like it. It seemed like a very backwater Appalachian type story that I couldn't relate to but it quickly turns into ... a backwater Appalachian story setting that takes off and keeps going. The world that Andrews creates is so different than anything that I have read before. The first 3 were good quick reads.

I'm at the last chapter of Steel's Edge and believe this has been the slowest book of the series for me. It does pick up and becomes more interesting but it takes 1/2 of the book for me to get involved to not want to put it down.

So I'm finally reading this one and I like it... But I don't love it. However, I wasn't completely crazy about the Kate daniels series either until the 2nd book so I'm going to try the 2nd book in this series as well.

This "series" is really stand alone stories about different characters. You might like the second one better (or not) because the characters are entirely different. The setting/world is the same although it builds with each story.

I didn't know that..... I like it better when it's the same characters evolving

Me too. I think Ilona Andrews does a good job of it in this series, but honestly I only really enjoyed the first one. The characters really grabbed me. Others have been captivated by the other stories. Some of the characters to make cameo appearances in the other books, but they mainly have their own set of characters. Don't get me wrong, they are all decent stories, but it depends on whether you want or need that over-arching theme/story/characters. The writing, as always, is very good.

Nikki (withererose) I've enjoyed each one. I just bought Steel's Edge (The Edge, #4) by Ilona Andrews and am excited to read it :D I also picked up the newest kate daniels as well Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6) by Ilona Andrews so excited for it!!!!! I just love Illona Andrews!
