SOLVED. book was a collection of stories, but one story was titled 'The Conjurer's Game' [s]

Read that book long ago, and there were a couple of short stories in it, all fantasy, magic. There was one particular story that still is in my mind - 'The Conjurer's Game' and in that, there is this conjurer who has a board game that is something like chess. I'm not getting what it was.
Also, I've forgotten the book's name :/
Any help on what the book could be?

The Glass Tower: Three Doorways into The Otherworld by Catherine Fisher? It contains three stories one of which is "The Conjuror's Game". One review on Amazon mentions "he sees a board for a game not unlike chess with black ravens on one side and golden men and women on the other".
