Candice (wyrmie) | 11 comments I hate Once and Future King. The first paragraph is 2 pages long and I'm usually asleep by the 6th sentence. So I guess as a sleep aid it is great!

message 202: by Stacy (new)

Stacy okun (stacyo40) | 111 comments I hated Emi Lost and Found…I read al 3 of the trilogy, and I didn't like her AT ALL…I also put down Life after Life and i was so disappointed :(

Kristie | 5929 comments I couldn't get into Life After Life either.

Donna Nowosielski | 143 comments I hated Eat Pray Love

message 205: by N (new)

N | 276 comments HATED Wheel of Time

message 206: by Kolene (new)

Kolene (lovememyalphamen) | 1 comments I had no tolerance for 50 Shades, h, was annoying and couldn't get past the third chapter. No amount of titillation was worth that aggravation.

message 207: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Hall | 14 comments The Great Gatsby.

message 208: by Katie (new)

Katie Harder-schauer | 6 comments I really hated "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac. I've heard great things about it, but it just really didn't do anything for me and I fail to see what all the fuss is about.

I'm also really not fond of Nicholas Sparks, and I've read several of his books at this point to make sure it's his writing I don't like and not just those particular books.

message 209: by Paganalexandria (last edited Apr 29, 2014 09:32AM) (new)

Paganalexandria I hated every book on Oprah's Book Club List

http://static.oprah.com/pdf/obc-compl...

except for What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day (Idlewild, #1) by Pearl Cleage White Oleander by Janet Fitch Cane River by Lalita Tademy .

Don't hate all of her books. But did dislike the majority of the ones I tried. So many of them seem to involve abused women and children. Almost all seem to be depressing. I was pleased when I heard she had chosen one by one of my favorite authors. Then found out she chose the one I did not like.

message 211: by Fran (new)

Fran | 4 comments I didn't like "Tortilla Flat". - remember the author's name, but this is a classic and I should remember. ;)

message 212: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 293 comments Hated The Notebook by Nicolas Sparks - such fake dialogue. Won't read anything else by him.

message 213: by Avery (new)

Avery (ThePagemaster) (averythepagemaster) | 57 comments I hate Twilight, for obvious reasons, mainly because she ruined the overall aspect of a vampire. Bram Stoker must be rolling in his grave and Anne Rice is rolling her eyes.

But if I can't pick Twilight, then I'll choose The Witching Hour or Five People You Meet in Heaven.

message 214: by Novy (new)

Novy Cendian never hate books._.

message 215: by Kathie (new)

Kathie (buecher_huhn) I dislike the plot in Orwell's 1984. The fictional world and the book's general message are good, but I just couldn't care less about the protagonist's adventures, and the weird love affair just ruined it for me.

message 216: by Aiysic (new)

Aiysic | 22 comments I hate The Alchemist. Probably the most over-rated book ever. I didn't get the hooplah. The ending was very anti-climactic and it was just a huge disappointment for me. Everyone raved about it and I was just...what? Jeez.

I also couldn't get through the LOTR series. I couldn't get past the first 100 pages of the first book. Too boring. My cousin lectured me that I should've read Silmarillion first and blah blah blah. Yeah, okay. Don't care. On to the next book.

message 217: by Brittney (new)

Brittney Bilderback I personally disliked The Fault in Our Stars, I found it lacked any real depth. I still can't quite grasp why everyone is so enthralled.

message 218: by Adrian (new)

Adrian (hollyriver22171) I hated the fault in our stars. I am sorry I just couldn't learn to love it like everyone else did, I managed to finish it though.

message 219: by Stacie (new)

Stacie Rice (stacierice73) | 2 comments I couldn't stand Catcher In The Rye

message 220: by [deleted user] (new)

Brave New World and Heart of Darkness. Everybody always tells me they are amazing. I read them to see what all the hype was about, and it took a HUGE effort to even get through to Chapter Two.

message 221: by Silvia (new)

Silvia Turcios | 395 comments I hate Twilight! It ruined everything about Vampires and shows Bella and Edward, the worst couple I have read.

message 222: by Madhuri_v (new)

Madhuri_v (ninemuses) | 5 comments I absolutely loathed twilight! I was stuck in a friend's house for one whole night and she has only that to read (NO TV or music system). That was the only thing available. I read first two parts as I was not able to sleep in the new place. I still hate myself. :-)

I could not manage to read all Narnia books. I tried first three but did not like them.

message 223: by Madhuri_v (new)

Madhuri_v (ninemuses) | 5 comments Yes. One more addition. Peter Pan. I saw the movie Hook which used the basic premise of the Peter Pan and gave it an interesting twist. But I found that book incredibly boring and sometimes borderline stupid.

message 224: by amanda (new)

amanda (amanda_pedersen) there is some books that I really can't stand!!!!!!!the three worst book i have ever read (not in any particularly order) is :

1. switched by amanda hocking. it is quite a while since i read this book, so I don't remember much of it. what i do remember was that all the characters was annoying, that I didn't really like the plot and that the relationships in the story made no sense.

2. Born at midnight by c.c.hunter. i read this book earlier this year and god, it had the worst love triangle ever. nothing interesting happened AT ALL, and the character was annoying and i hated them and i can't think of one single thing that was good about this book.

3. tempest by holly hook. god this book was so stupid. the main character was stupid (very very stupid) the concept was stupid.

this is the only three books that I really don't like.

message 225: by Jara (new)

Jara (jarabrooke) Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. I couldn't make myself get past the first twenty five pages for the life of me.

message 226: by Jaime (new)

Jaime Leigh (justjaimeleigh) Matched by Ally Condie (and basically so, of the rest of her books too...)

message 227: by Jaime (new)

Jaime Leigh (justjaimeleigh) Stephane I get you! I hated both yuck Finn and Tom Sawyer!

message 228: by [deleted user] (new)

Twilight was absolutely horrible, and Matched was just a Giver rip-off. And Cassandra Clare--don't even get me started...

message 229: by Cora (new)

Cora (missteacher333) | 106 comments I'm hatingThe Cuckoo's Calling Just can't get interested in it and I loved the Harry Potter series. Disappointed :-(

message 230: by r8chh (new)

r8chh | 36 comments I hated the lovely bones. I could barely get through it and it was so raved and the movie came out and I was just like...naww lol

Brandy _dropaheart wrote: "I hated the lovely bones. I could barely get through it and it was so raved and the movie came out and I was just like...naww lol"

I hated Lovely Bones too. I read the first part of the book and put it away.

message 232: by Brandy (new)

Brandy I really didn't like The Host. I forced myself to finish but it was rough. I didn't like The Great Gatsby at all.

message 233: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Adri wrote: "The great Gatsby, catcher in the rye, prince of tides, and committed by Elizabeth Gilbert..this was probably THE most disappointing cuz I loved eat, pray, love."

The Great Gatsby! Yes. I don't understand it. I had to read it for school and didn't like it at all. I won't watch the various movies either.

message 234: by Diego (new)

Diego (dyegov) Brave New World I really really can't stand how repetitive this book is!

message 235: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (bookswithcupcakes) I absolutely hated the Twilight series, nothing really....significant seemed to happen.
I also didn't really enjoy Mockingjay either.

message 236: by Bebe20018 (new)

Bebe20018 | 329 comments I hated Divergent. I could not even finish it. I still don't understand what the big deal is. The book makes no sense. Also, Pride and Prejudice. No big deal.

message 237: by Silje (last edited Feb 15, 2015 11:21AM) (new)

Silje (silje4) | 2 comments My worst nemesis is Wuthering Heights. I had to read it in High School and I absolutely hated it!! I could't even get through half of it! Now, I get that they are supposed to be unlikeable persons and all that, but no.... no! It became personal for me the year after when I had to read it again (that is to say, try to read a bit further) when they assigned it again at my first year of Uni... I really don't like the way it is written. It has, however, thought me how important it is to have likeable characters! To quote Damon Salvator: "If you're going to be bad, be bad with a purpose or else you're not worth forgiving.”

Also, have anybody read the "Hush, Hush" series by Becca Fitzpatrick?? It's just a poorly written, "wanna be" Twilight. I mean the girl is 15. 15! I don't care how grown up you think you are when you are of that age! At least that is my opinion, please tell me there are anyone else who shares it??

message 238: by Pepperpots (new)

Pepperpots I bought the first Hush book and I randomly skipped to a page. I saw the line 'I stared at him for a long moment' - wtf is a long moment? I gave the book away and regret spending money on it.

message 239: by Pepperpots (new)

Pepperpots Cora wrote: "I'm hatingThe Cuckoo's Calling Just can't get interested in it and I loved the Harry Potter series. Disappointed :-("

I loved that but I hated The Casual Vacancy. That was disappointing for me. It seemed like she wanted readers to hate the book.

message 240: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee O.K., I'm probably really going to get it for this. But, I hate "To Kill a Mockingbird". I don't get the excitement over it. On the entertainment scale of 1-10, 1 being the lowest, I'd give it a -1.

It was just rather dull to me, and yet it's considered a classic. A classic! Can somebody tell me what I'm missing here?

And don't get me started on the fact that this author only wrote one book (though they're talking about another one) still, ONE BOOK!

message 241: by NotQuiteAllHere (new)

NotQuiteAllHere hehehe this discussion makes me very happy....

First I hate the book The Lovely Bones. I know it hasn't been popular for a few years... but I tried reading it and it was terrible. My older sister totally was raving about along with some other people I knew. I thought it is was stupid, depressing, terrible writing and totally predicable... ick

Next.... makes people yell at me... I hate Stephen King. I have tried quite a few of his book but I think they are boring and not scary in the least. Part of the problem I think is that I can't seem to relate to any of his character and therefore I don't care...

message 242: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam222) Frankinstine by Mary Shelly. I had to read it in high school and hated it. It was boring and just down right stupid.

message 243: by Sam (new)

Sam (sam222) Been reading some of the older posts and a lot of people are hating on YA. I can't really say I hate YA per-say but I can understand the hate, their all the freaking same. That's why I stay with my crime fiction and horror. At least there's blood and the occasionally "F" bomb and rarely a love triangle, those are annoy as hell.

message 244: by Tameeka (new)

Tameeka Pepperpots wrote: "I bought the first Hush book and I randomly skipped to a page. I saw the line 'I stared at him for a long moment' - wtf is a long moment? I gave the book away and regret spending money on it." That gave me a good laugh Pepperpots (⌒▽⌒)

message 245: by Tameeka (new)

Tameeka I probably have quite a few popular books on my list but the one I HATE the most? Catcher in the Rye. I wanted to shake Holden Caulfield so bad. I was a great student in high school but was ready to risk a C because I couldn't take the pain anymore.

message 246: by Rebecca M. (new)

Rebecca M. | 14 comments I just know I'm going to get crucified for this but... To Kill a Mockingbird. Couldn't stand it.

I also hated Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. She's at the top of my "shitty authors who try too hard" list.

*Waits for angry mob*

Hey, Rebecca M.

Look at the first message 251, we have that in common. I thought I was the only one to dare hate a "classic".
I'm still waiting for the angry mob.

Yay, someone who agrees! I'm always hesitant to say that I hated that book. I feel like everyone will gang up on me.

message 249: by Ericka (new)

Ericka Scott Nelson | 51 comments Not at all fond of The Fountainhead or On the Road. I would be willing to give On the Road another try, though. I first read it as a freshman and I've found that sometimes coming back to books at a later age makes a difference. That was so with To the Lighthouse and The Things They Carried. I'm pretty sure The Fountainhead has no redeeming value, though.

message 250: by Jennifer (jenibookworm) (last edited Apr 06, 2015 02:47PM) (new)

Jennifer (jenibookworm) (jenibookworm) | 148 comments Alright so books i hated. hehe.

50 shades is awful. i am absolutely positive that publishers hire editors for a reason and one really should have been ontop of those for the absolutely appalling writing.

Wicked. Hated it. I never even finished it. Loved the musical though.

Twilight - I enjoyed the first book but they just went down hill from there. And i absolutely hated breaking dawn.

Thats it for me so far :)
