Here's a twist on the other games we have in the group. I guess I'm in a rut when it comes to making up new games but this one is dealing with books so I couldn't resist :)

I post a type of book I want, you post a book that fits my needs & another type of book.

You can make the request as general as you want for an easy find - or specific for something more challenging to find.

For example
Person 1: I want a book with a kick ass female.
Person 2: Anita Blake has the toughest chica // I want a book that features powerful fey

I hope this makes sense - if it doesn't just post questions.

We'll start with:
I want a book with powerful fey

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) what's a fey?

They are a group of supernatural creatures that include fairies, sprites, elves, and lots others that I'd have to look up to recall. Creatures (not humans) that are born magical would be my best definition.

Rachel Morgan / The Hollows series by Kim Harrison. The 1st book is Dead Witch Walking. If I remember correctly, Harrison has created a world where witches were the children of Demons and Demons are now infertile. How's that for a twist???

I'd like a book about a coven of witches.

Susan (ofearna) do Yasmine Galenorn's sisters count as a coven?

Shanon (boban) | 1166 comments Mod
I would guess any group of witches would count :)

Cheyenne McCray's Magic series, starting with Forbidden Magic

I'd like a book with a sexy demon paired with a mortal heroine.

Susan (ofearna) Lilith Saitcrow's first Dante Valentine book

Hey Susan - don't forget to keep the game going by asking for another type of book.

I would like a book with a clown in it (preferably with paranomal aspects still)

message 12: by Susan (new)

Susan (ofearna) I have about 180 books on my TBr shelf, tho...

This is just a game though. You don't have to add books to your shelf. Someone says what type of book to find - you find it & continue the game by putting down something else to find in a book. You can see the instructions in post #1

hmmm... let's see if we can get this one going again :o)

I'd like to see a book that features a man/boy as the main character.

Julieanne (boxlady) | 1 comments I would like a book that has fey shape-shifters and is not something i have already read :)

message 16: by Julia (new)

Julia | 119 comments Julieanne,

Give a try to The Chronicles of the Cheysuli by Jennifer Roberson book one is Shape Changers. It's from 1984 and has been reprinted with a new-ish title.

I'm looking for Salem (or wherever) witches from 1692 who were *really* witches or magical and not Rees' Witch Child or Sorceress.

Heather Brewster | 28 comments I'd like a book that has a Demonic villian, That makes me love him in the end instead of the good guy...

Patrik | 7 comments I want a book with roman vampires battling goths werewolves.

message 19: by new_user (last edited Feb 02, 2010 02:18PM) (new)

new_user Shazzy, you might like A Mermaid's Ransom.

Heather, you might like Shadowfae.

Patrik, the nearest thing I know of is The Silver Wolf, about ancient Roman werewolves.

I'd like to see a book with a dark hero.

Julia | 119 comments new_ user,

Try A Kiss Before the Apocalyspe by Thomas Sniegoski.

I'd like to read a fairy tale retelling of Rapunzel.

Or a book with a clown/ mime AND urban fantasy...

message 21: by Patrik (new)

Patrik | 7 comments thanks I put it on my TBR & must buy list

message 22: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (lifeasabooknerd) Julia, Try Golden: A Retelling of "Rapunzel".

I'd like a book like Charlaine Harris' Harper Connelly series, with a character who finds the dead.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd like a book with roman vampires. Or a series where people travel the world.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh and a book like the show Fringe

message 25: by Julia (new)

Julia | 119 comments Golden looks good, Michelle, thanks!

As for like Harper Connelly, Harper Blaine by Kat Richardson might fit the bill. Really enjoyed the novella by her in Mean Streets.

Levi, for vampires in Rome try Blood Games by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. And the protagonist travels the world.

One of the X Files media tie-in books, for a book like Fringe?
