Its rare for me to reread. I'm constantly reading something new because there are so many books out there whose stories I want to immerse myself in.

I love re-reading Harry Potter too. It is one of the books that one never tire off and Trewlaney's predictions always make me laugh.
I can seldom 'predict' what will happen next, I hope you have better luck than me:)
For me, The Shining would be the book I have reread. But I agree with Bianca, there are so many books out there rereading for me is rare.

I have a high tendency to reread books I really enjoy, not only because I derive pleasure from it but also because in the second and even third reading, I can sometimes pick up on little details and nuaces that I may have missed the first time around, or I can come to appreciate a subtle point or line that became lost before rereading. Plus there are some books I never tire of, such as the Harry Potter series, The Dark Jewels series, or even the occasional stand alone like Pride & Prejudice.
It's a bit comforting to know that I'm not the only one who re-reads favorite books a lot. When I tell my friends I read HP 7 times they look at me funny and ask me if I'm really that bored.

I only reread books that I really like. I don't waste time with rereading books it usually takes me about one or two days to reread books that have about 400 pages. Then I just move on to a book I haven't read.

Nope haven't done it yet, but then again I just started reading again after I had stopped for quite some time.

I never re-read. I'm one of those people that accidently buys books I already have sitting on my book shelf. I usually get half way through a book and think, this sounds familiar oh yeah I've already read this. So I guess I do re-read books, but not on purpose. LOL!

I constantly re-read! I especially love re-reading books I read when I younger because there is so much you just don't see as a child/teenager. I have re-read the Harry Potter series numerous times (as each new book & movie came out and then some, since I essentially grew up with the characters). As soon as I finished The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo series I started over because I had essentially devoured it and wanted to take my time reading it again - I hope to re-read it again in the next year or so. Same goes for The Hunger Games series. I read the entire Chronicles of Narnia series as a child, but re-read it at 23 and was blown away by the difference my perspective made. A Little Princess and The Secret Garden were favorites of mine from childhood, so I occasionally re-read them just because it takes me back to that time and I love the imagination of the main characters. Generally I re-read books that I absolutely loved every few years. I just finished The Historian and will probably re-read it in two or three years. It was so how long and complicated that a second reading couldn't hurt. I occasionally will re-read a book that is so highly recommended or acclaimed but I didn't love it the first time. I couldn't get into The Book Thief as much as I expected, but this may have been due to some outside things so I plan to re-read it. One day I also want to give Game of Thrones another try, even though I couldn't get past the first half. I also try to re-read some books that I had to read for classes in high school or college, because I believe my perspective was probably tainted by the sheer fact that it was mandatory reading.
I re read all books I like again and again till I'm through with it. Since I'm a quick reader I may not understand some things that are there in the book so I reread it again and again. I've read the Harry potter books at least 10 times because I love that book

I have good intentions of re-reading books, but I'm honestly not remembering any that I've re-read. I have favorites that I will talk about all of the time, and have purchased books that I loved, but never really have re-read.

Yep. Re-reading a much loved book is like visiting an old friend. I generally only re-read books that I really adored, although I have started to re-read some books I read as a kid and in my teens just to see if my perspective or interpretation has changed.

I re - read all my favorite books until I know them by heart (The hunger games....) and in case I don't have any new book at home, I re - read some old ones that I read years ago... ;-) Actually, I am a quick reader and I generally miss some details when I read a book for the first time. When I re - read the book, I often understand things, I haven't realized before! :-P
I try not to re-read books as there are so many amazing books out there that I want to read! I sometimes re-read books I can't remember (but vaguely recollect that I enjoyed them) but other than that, I only re-read incredible books. Like literally, the books I can't go without re-reading, because they make me happier. An example of this is the Harry Potter Series. I've only read the entire series twice, but I plan to read them again, because although it takes me like three months to read all of them, I just adore them, and miss them when I go a long time without reading them! (I apologise if this was unexpectedly cheesy!)
I usually reread series when a new one comes out or if it gets made intona movie. And I have reread Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster at least once a year. Otherwise, I have too many new books to get through:)

There are a number of books that I love to re-read every once in awhile (about every 2 years or so). I like to re-read because you can catch on to certain things that you missed in the book, or your viewpoint has changed so you look at the book/characters in a different way than when you first read it.

I generally don't reread books, but I do if they're in a series and I just got another book to go into that series. I have reread the harry potter series, duma key by Stephen king, the hush hush saga, the house of night series, under the dome, among a few others.
Others I have reread numerous times Something Wicked This Way Comes The Martian Chronicles The Bridge Across Forever: A True Love Story

I like to reread books that I've had to read for school. (mostly because I feel like I never really appreciated books when I HAD to read them.)By reading them on my own, I can actually give an opinion on them. When you're in a class I feel like your opinions may be swayed based on the opinions of others in the class or more commonly, the teacher. I'm also a sucker for romances so I have a habit of rereading Austen books...mainly Pride & Prejudice...

Your teachers were like that? That's horrible. Our high school teacher wants you to debate each other but she never gets involved beyond saying you have a good point. But good for you re-reading them. I used to read the books that advanced placement English got when I was in ninth grade. My 8th grade teacher didn't think my spelling was up to par. But I was moved up to AP English in 10th grade by the 9th grade teacher's recommendation. I actually liked most of our reading assignments except for The Awakening.
I never do. I'm one of those people who doesn't want to miss out on the next great book. If I did do a reread it would be Beautiful Liess by Lisa Unger. That book was amazing. Also Sharp objects by Gillian Flynn.I think the only reread I've really everr done was The Westing Game and I would do it again. I love that book!
I always do! But at first i complete the whole series, and when you read the second time, it gets more interesting to read, because you know whats gonna happen, and its like you're seeing the same thing with a new perspective, which is a whole new thing to enjoy!!

I do reread from time to time. But to me nothing matches the first.
Also so many other facets seem to be at play when I connect with a book. Real people, place and things effecting how I feel as I read. The following image is how I feel after the first perfect read
There is only one or two books out there I could and do re-read... Choke by Chuck and The Descent by Jeff. Both always get reactions from me.

Sometimes I do, but only if it's a really good book or something really complex so I can understand all the different aspects of it. I read "Nineteen Eighty-Four" about three times and found it fascinating everytime.

Yes. Re -reading an old book transports you back sometimes. You not only get to read a book you liked again and remember all the things you forgot; but you remember that time again. The people, what you were doing- even the weather, the smell of that time. I always use the receipt as a book mark so that evokes memories too.Love a well thumbed book!
I reread books, but after a few months at least. I read so many books that I tend to forget what happens in books. Eventually I'll tell myself you really loved that book, but you don't remember why. Lets reread it!

I love re-reading books....it's like meeting old friends again.
Pride and Prejudice is one I read every year.
Bet me because it makes me happy when I need a lift.

Anything by Katie MacAlister because they make me laugh.

I never re read unless it's for school and even then I'm on the fence. Unless I don't completely understand, which Google is there for but that's really the only reason. I know the series of events that have already happened so it's hard for me to re-read books.

Sarah wrote: "I love re-reading books....it's like meeting old friends again."So true.
My favorite re-reads are :
J.R.R.Tolkien - The Lord of the Rings
Michael Crichton - Jurassic Park and Timeline
Mark Twain - The Prince and the Pauper
George R.R. Martin - A Game of Thrones - the whole series
Guy Gavriel Kay - A Song for Arbonne,Tigana,The Lions of al-Rassan, ,Sailing to Sarantium and Lord of Emperors
Katherine Neville - The Eight
These are just some of them. As we grow up and change the way we see some stories changes too.
I've reread the Twilight series (except for New Moon) a couple times; I've got to say that the movies don't give the books justice. From time to time, I reread books that leaves me something to think about such as The last Song by Nicholas Sparks and Night.

Yes. I have a shelf on goodreads just for the books I deem worth re-reading (and/or that I teach consecutive years--you have to read it ahead of time for it to be fresh).

Every time a new book comes out in a series, I have to go back and read all the previous books in the series before I begin the new book. I'm horrible about it. With Heroes of Olympus I had to go back and read the Percy Jackson series before I read on.

Yes. I also have to reread previous books to get myself back into it especially if there has been a break in between and I reread my favourite books.

I reread mainly my school books when I have a test or quiz coming up. I also read plays serval times in order to do a script analysis for them.

I do reread. I love doing it, personally. I try to relive my first time reading the book, but the second time is never as good as the first. Nothing compares to reading a book for the first time.
