message 353: by Jennifer (new)

Is Grave Secret officially the last book in the series?

I wonder if Harris will be starting another series up or putting more focus on her Sookie books? I kinda hope she does another series - her imagination impresses me & I love her stories!

She had said at Bouchercon 2 weeks ago that this is most likely it for the Harper series.

So I didn't get the first Harprt book because Walden Books didn't have it, the store clerk said he must have just sold it, they had the other three though. So instead I bought Club Dead and started to read it that night.

Ooops! I'll fix it right now.

message 362: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) I just finished City of Glass, I loved it, it was a really good series, and I kind of wish it wasn't finished. Now I'm rereading Twilight for like the millionth time, before the next movie comes out.

message 363: by [deleted user] (new)

I need to reread New Moon before the next movie. And along with Club Dead I really like it but it's just making me crazy and mad, I want Sookie to be with Alcide!!!!!!! I don't care about Bill anymore, for all I care he could actually die and I wouldn't hate it that much.... Even though I know he won't.

Shannon (theholyterror) | 132 comments I started both Need (Need, #1) by Carrie Jones and Going Bovine by Libba Bray this week. Need started off kind of boring and it was hard to get into because of all the dialogue and inner monologue and no description. But then I kept reading and it got really interesting. There's these glimpses that something isn't quite right with the town and the teenagers in it. I'm really curious to find out what's actually going on.

And I have a fear of looking out windows when it's dark out, I think someone will be out there looking back in! So, there's been parts where this book has creeped me out!

I'm reading Going Bovine at work and it's really funny but I haven't gotten far yet. I'm hoping things pick up for Cameron though because his life pretty much sucks and it'll get depressing to read about if things don't change soon.

I started reading Hush, Hush , Sunday. I really am liking it, similiar to Twilight but the main character and narrator is more realistic and (IMO) more likable.
I need to start The Forest of Hands and Teeth, soon.

message 368: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) I just finished Twilight again and am just starting New Moon. I want to have it done again before the movie comes out so that means that I only have 10 days left to finish it with hardly any time to read with all my school work. I don't know if I'll finish it in time. :S

I started HUSH, HUSH on Sunday, too, and am liking it, so far. Haven't had much time to read!

message 370: by [deleted user] (new)

I was going to try and reread New Moon, but I'll read it whenever I guess. The Volturi chapters are possibly my favorite from the whole series.

I finished The Hunger Games a couple days ago and LOVED it!

Since then I haven't been having the best luck in choosing books.

Started Silk and was bored. Started The Lies of Locke Lamora & it wasn't what I was expecting at all - a VERY slow book. Started Frankenstein on audiobook from Librovox but the narrator changed on each track and I found it so hard to keep up with the changing narrators that I decided I'll just read it.

Yuck! I haven't put aside that many books in a long time and for it all to happen in the space of a few days was kind of dis-heartening. What's a girl to do!?! GO BUY A NEW RELEASE!!! I bought Magic in the Shadows which is sure to be a hit.

Also am starting Fighting to Survive & The Well of Ascension. All three are going to be great reads.

Need to get Gil's All Fright picked up tomorrow hopefully. Actually, I have tons of books on my tbr pile, but nothing jumping out at me right now. Maybe I need another fluffy book- fun vampire chick lit style romance novel anyone?

I need to borrow The Hunger Games from my friend, she hasn't read it yet but from reviews and descriptions I think it'll be good.

I'm a multiple book reader so currently i'm reading 4 books: Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler, Kiss of Fire by Deborah Cooke, Howling at the Moon by Karen MacInerney and Barely Bewitched by Kimberly Frost

I'm enjoying all of them very much and already have plans to read the next book in each of these series.

I've been recommending it to everyone! It was really good, I think you'll like it Levi.

Kat, you're in good company. We have a lot of people that read several books at once here! I haven't read any of the ones you're reading right now. Which one is your fav of the four?

message 380: by [deleted user] (new)

I think right now my top fav of the four i'm reading would have to be Tempest Rising this is her first novel and I always enjoy reading new authors, second place goes to Howling at the Moon.

I read that one around the time it came out. I'm curious to see how you feel about it when you finish it.

message 384: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) I'm almost done with Incubus Dreams (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #12) by Laurell K. Hamilton and I think I'm going to start Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning

message 385: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I just finished Tainted (The Blood Lily Chronicles, #1) by Julie Kenner really enjoyed it. It's more of an Urban Fantasy opposed to Paranormal Romance. Not to much romance in it, but a good read all the same. Great plot and smart, witty writing. I really liked the main heroine, Lily. She was a sarcastic kick ass character! I'm now starting on The Devil Inside (Morgan Kingsley, #1) by Jenna Black

message 386: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Just finished Kelly Armstrong's Broken and am reading Christine Feehan's Dark Curse right now, liking/liked them both.

Heather B (heatherbenson) I'm over half way through Tempted by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. So far I'm liking it, I find that it's better than the last one was, the last was probably my least favourite in the series so far, but I still liked it.

That series is one of those I like while I'm reading it but as it sits I like it less and less. I've been hesitant to start Tempted but will get to it soon.

Does anyone know how many books will be in the House of Night series?

message 391: by [deleted user] (new)

I was wodering if these books are good enought that I should check them out, how are they (The House of Night books that is)?

message 392: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) Levi wrote: "I was wodering if these books are good enought that I should check them out, how are they (The House of Night books that is)?"

I detested the first one! My niece has insisted I give them another chance, so I have the 2nd & 3rd ones sitting here. Will get to them before long, I guess.

message 393: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) I personally really like the House of Night series. It's not epic writing by any stretch but it's an interesting take on vampires and it's a quick easy read especially if you need something to give you a bit of a break....sometimes the main character can get a bit annoying but so far it hasn't stopped me from continuing the series.. most people either love it or hate it! I guess I'm in the love it camp. I would say try the first two books Levi and if you like it then you are good to go, if you can't get into them, then no reason to keep going....

message 394: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I just finished Eve of Darkness (Marked, Book 1) by S.J. Day by S.J. Day and loved it!! Her take on the Cain & Abel story was fantastic!! Great plot and spectacular writing! Two hot brothers fighting over one woman, can't beat it! I can't wait to jump into the next book in the series (I have to wait until next month, it's in one of my challenges). I'm starting on [image error]

Umm... I'm not sure but I was told that there is going to be 9-12 books. Personal I think that they could do less and just make the few books really good instead of a bunch of alright books, but thats just my oppinion.

Levi wrote: "I was wodering if these books are good enought that I should check them out, how are they (The House of Night books that is)?"

I liked them and find that it's a good series, lots of drama (guys). If you're in to the paranormal/vampire stuff them I would recommend it to you. I think that the first books were my favourite in the series so far, cause the last one that I read, Hunted, I thought was kinda a filler, but I'm likeing Tempted so far.

Valorie I just finished [image error] and could not put it down! A great fast paced plot with a steamy romance that kept me giggling through the whole story! Highly recommend it! I think I'm going to move on to either Undying (Clare Point, #2) by V.K. Forrest or [image error]
