Shanon, have you also noticed that "Gil's" has been labeled YA or at least in the Best YA lists? I'm tellin' ya...I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with my child reading that until she's at least 18! lol

I haven't heard of Hannah before. I'm curious to see what you think of it.
Storm Born is GREAT! You've started reading it at just the right time to pick up Thorn Queen (#2) without any wait.

The day we got it in I was drawn to the cover. We actually got a lot of good-looking teen books in that day but I figured I could read this one pretty quickly. So far, I really like it a lot. It's historical fantasy with mermaids, what's not to like? ; ) The characters are really well-developed and the author has a good grip on imagery - makes for a very easy and intriguing read.

I'm absolutely loving Storm Born, it's fantastic. I keep waiting for something absolutely horrible to happen though, at least that's what I've come to expect from Mead ... I don't know if I'm going to start Thorn Queen after finishing it though. I've got a bunch of books listed for challenges that I should work on. I need to read Succubus Heat too so I'll more than likely start that next.
I've pretty much given up on reading most of my New Releases for now. I'm so behind on all of the books I've been waiting for. Too many books are catching my eye and I've had less time to read lately. Let's see... I've got Succubus Heat, Destined for An Early Grave, My Soul to Take, Dream Fever & Blood Promise all sitting here staring at me and begging for attention. ARG!

Oh man, don't even get me started! I have over 800 books that I actually own that I haven't read yet. Pretty ridiculous, huh? I've slowed down on buying new releases a lot though so at least my pile isn't growing at such an exponential rate anymore. I read 12 books last month so I'm working on it bit by bit.

Now I'm reading both

The Mercy series is another great series. You've been reading some really good books lately!
I haven't read Stray yet but from the chatter it gets I'm sure it's good. I've got it to read sometime too... eventually... hopefully :)

I've been trying to cram in as much reading as possible before school starts. I'm also participating in a couple of challenges and a few group reads that are forcing me to read the books that have been on my backlog for a while now. Here's a list of all the challenges I joined. Stray is a mini-read for the Who's Your Author group so I'm trying to read it this month.
When school starts I know I'm going to slow down on my reading tremendously (well, my reading of books I want to read, lol) and it makes me kind of depressed. : (
I used to do the month-to-month challenges too. I found myself too stressed and had to stop. Something about me forces me to complete everything on a To Do list and those challenges were To Do lists for me. I'm a freak but I'm ok with it...
I'm doing a challenge right now that runs from August through November. Not feeling too stressed but then it's not the end of the challenge yet so we'll wait until crunch time to see if I feel the stress :)
One of my favorite things about graduating was knowing I could read books I enjoyed again! I feel for all the students out there who want to read a good book but are stuck with text books and other research/projects/homework. I'm just glad it's not me anymore!

I really hope you enjoy both of these books. Patricia Briggs is one of my new favorites!! And Stray was good - except Rachel Vincent tends to describe...a lot. Other than that it was a good book. And fast if you can believe it.
I haveRogue at home now but I'm getting thru Uglies, and a Patricia Briggs weekend first - On the Prowl, Cry Wolf, and Bone Crossed - before I start it.

I just finished that book and I did enjoy it...there are a few parts that were slow, but it is worth it in the end...I definitely want to read the next book in the series.
So sad! My ereader is busted and my replacement won't be here for 4 days :( That means I have to wait to finish The Hob's Bargain & The Living Dead. In the meantime I'll be reading Salem's Lot.

I'm right there with you. I can't keep up with all the challenges. I decided to continue reducing the number of books in my to-be-read pile. Besides buying extra books gets expensive and I often have no interest in reading them.
I finished Neverwhere A Novel by Neil Gaiman and Hunting Ground by Patrician Briggs. I think I'm going to start on Summer Knight by Jim Butcher.

Oh Yeah! That's up next for me so I'm glad to hear it's good.
I'm reading Grave Peril (#3 in the Dresden Files) and feel like I missed something. There's a new character, Michael, that is just in the story without much introduction. I looked to see if there's an anthology in between the 2 books but couldn't see one. Does anyone know if there's any short stories by Jim Butcher that I should be reading along the way? I HATE missing pieces of the story because they're in other books!

Elvia, I'm glad that Summer Knight is going to be a good one. This is one of the series I read that is like comfort food.
Michael did burst in on the scene. Butcher does that with his characters. Michael is a true believer and he's actions demonstrate the power of true belief. We will find out more about him. It's his multitude of children that I want to get to know. I'm from a family of 6 kids and I know that the more sibling = higher possiblity for oneriness!

Paula, I'm trying to remember Grave Peril and even the synopsis doesn't bring it back to me...I guess I'll have to read it again.

Mason is a jazz guitarist in San Francisco and a Practitioner, who also uses improvisation in his magic.

Right now I'm reading Rogue by Rachel Vincent, Fool Moon by Jim Butcher, and Holy Smokes by Katie MacAlister.

Does this series have any romance in it?

There's romance, fighting, magic, betrayal, all kinds of good stuff. This series definitely made me smile and come perilously close to tears.

Totally agree. It's very epic (in the conventional sense of the word, LOL.) Her heroes go through a lot.

I finally got Well of Shades today!!!! And another one called Wolfskin by Juliet Marillier. Can't wait to read them both.
At the moment I am reading City of Bones. I love this book way ore than i tought I would, it is a good get away from my vampire lover books. Though I know that there will be some vamp love in it (I can just sense it.)

Ah, Faolan! He's so dreamy, LOL. I liked Wolfskin, but I liked Foxmask even better. It had more romance. Wolfskin was more about the friendship between the two men.
I started The Dark Mirror yesterday after learning about the series here! Thanks for everyone that brought it up - I'm really enjoying it.
I'm also going to finish Pretty When She Dies A Vampire Novel. I am LOVING this book! It's the first book I've read by Rhiannon Frater and I'll definately be hunting down the rest of her books soon.

I discovered on the author's website some free short stories. Two of the stories available (synopsis below) relate to her Study trilogy. For those of you who liked the trilogy and couldn't get enough...

POWER STUDY is about Ari and Janco as they deal with a Sandseed Magician and a cocky young soldier.
ASSASSIN STUDY is an online serial story about the trouble Valek is involved in while Yelena is in Sitia.
Off to start Magic Study tomorrow.
Thanks for the link Briansgirl! I like checking out short stories of authors before I delve into a series. I've been wanting to start this series just haven't yet.

If you want more pick up her books!

I noticed a lot of people have it on both horror & comedy shelves so I'm not surprised by that.
