message 901: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I'm about half way through Insatiable by Meg Cabot and I'm really not that impressed. It's ok, but not great or even good. Just ok.

One of my favorites. You will love the Vampire Academy series. The farther you get in the series the more you'll love the characters and Richelle Mead's writing.

Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 22 comments I finished The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa and LOVED it. Epic fantasy with dark tones. (my review)

Picked up Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane today. Will begin devouring here in a few. I'm very excited for this series.

I must be in the minority because the farther I've gotten with this series (I've read them all) the more everyone in it annoys the crap out of me! I've decided to stop after SPIRIT BOUND.

What? Blood Promise was by far my favorite in the series. There's only one more book after Spirit Bound, though. Last Sacrifice comes out in December and then the series ends.

message 910: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 22 comments Almost done with Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane and wow. The second I finish, I'll be starting the next book (released yesterday), Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane .

The heroine is totally unexpected, the pacing perfect and the story utterly engaging. I may be falling in love with Stacia Kane.

Actually, you're right about BLOOD PROMISE. It took until about 1/2 way through the book, but it got pretty good. But I thought SPIRIT BOUND was a whine fest and almost didn't bother to finish it.

Im gonna try and find it soon! Seems like the first book is always out at my local library. haha

Sarah (sarah_anne) | 60 comments Melodie wrote: "REALLY liked KITTY GOES TO WAR!"

So did I!! It was definitely full of action. I just had a hard time w/ Cormac being so distant. In my mind, he and Kitty belong together. I'll never get used to the whole Ben thing... :-\

message 916: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (lifeasabooknerd) I'm reading LOTS right now!

Extras (Uglies, #4) by Scott Westerfeld Under the Dome by Stephen King Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides The Serpent's Tale (Mistress of the Art of Death, #2) by Ariana Franklin ...LOL Can I finish them all? I hope so.

message 917: by Jax (new)

Jax (anti-cato) | 9 comments Currently reading: The Book Theif by Zuzak and rereading the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin.

If you havent read this series, you (everyone) really really needs to.

message 918: by Kim (new)

Kim (mrsnesbitt) | 77 comments I just made the mistake of reading and finishing "Insatiable" by Meg Cabot. I like Cabot normally, but this is her attempt at paranormal romance and you are left unsure if it was an attempt at satire or a real romance. I think she is out of her depth on this one.

message 919: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I'm reading The Supernaturalist and I hope the orphan thing improves. And I'm reading The Better to Hold You. I'm not sure about this book. And continue to read Small Favor.

message 920: by Sasa (new)

Sasa (sasaboba) After finally returning the massively disappointing, A Quick Bite (review here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...), I finally started Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton. I'm only okay with it so far but it's got some intrigue. Hopefully, it will get really exciting :3 I've been told several times not to read after Narcissus in Chains and was wondering if there's any particular reason why.

message 921: by Julia (new)

Julia | 119 comments Because... you just suffered through Sand's A Quick Bite!... (great review, btw!)

After a certain point Anita Blake stops being a vampire killer, a necromancer, a crime fighter and becomes consumed with the ardeur and how many men and manly beings she can sex with. There's no plot. I'm not a prude, but the sex gets dull and boring.

Thank you! And yeah, I heard about that. I hate seeing a great series lose its touch.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 34 comments I just finished Pretty Little Liars and I will continue reading Spirit Bound and start The Dead Girls' Dance.

message 929: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finally finished Small Favor, Yay! I liked the book, There were too many pages (541) for my tastes with long explanations and opinions on various subjects. The sneaky guy hides information I want to know in the over verbose prose, so I can't scan and skip. Butcher is an excellant writer and most of the people I've talk to don't have the same probblem as I do. I see a book creaping up to 600 pages and I start to sweat! On to Turn Coat!

message 930: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I finished Pack Challenge (Magnus Pack, #1) by Shelly Laurenston , Hot Blood X (Hot Blood, Volume X) by Jeff Gelb and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Guide, #1) by Douglas Adams . I'm now reading Ballad A Gathering of Faerie (Books of Faerie, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater and Lover Avenged (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #7) by J.R. Ward .

message 931: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 34 comments Almost done with Dead Girls Dance

message 932: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (vampirebookclub) | 22 comments Finished Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison , which despite my slower pace reading it, I really enjoyed.

I just started The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa . I read 100 pages last night and had to fight with myself to put the book down and go to bed. (Husband didn't see the point of the struggle.) Those who loved The Iron King, know the next book begins with increased Ash drama, and, really, that's a good thing.

message 933: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I finished Lover Avenged late last night. I think this is the best Black Dagger Brotherhood book in my opinion.

message 934: by Paula (last edited Jul 22, 2010 05:16AM) (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished reading The Supernaturalist. I liked it, but the universe was depressing. I liked the supernaturalists (spotters), Cosmos, Ditto, Mona, and Stefan, but this world was controlled by a few big corporations that would do anything for power and money while the majority of people lived poor, pitiful lives. The ending was very unsatisfying. I want a sequel to this book where orphans aren't used in medical and commercial testing and the little blue fellers aren't stuck in gel.

I've started reading The Secret Hour and continue to read Turn Coat.

message 935: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I finished Ballad A Gathering of Faerie (Books of Faerie, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater , very good. Now I'm reading About A Dragon (Dragon Kin, #2) by G.A. Aiken .
