I'm finishing up my audiobook of Death Masks today! I nearly skipped for joy when I saw my library had it availble shortly after it's release.

Harris' Lily Bard series is the only one of hers I haven't started yet. The Harper series has been really good, the last book of the series was published this year. I wonder if Harris is going to start a new series or put more focus into her current ones.

message 502: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah_anne) | 60 comments I just finished reading the first four books of Rachel Vincent's Faythe Sanders series. I have to say that I was impressed! The last book, Prey was the best one yet!

I'm actually hoping that Harris will focus more on her Sookie Stackhouse series. I have followed it from the beginning, but it is seeming to lose focus. There are so many main characters, it can get difficult to follow. I don't like to have to make notes as I read...

The next on my list is Gail Carriger's Soulless.

Carolyn F. Am in the middle of Acheron. Love it. Cried almost all day yesterday and was so glad when part two started where the author's normal humor is. Emotionally draining but very good.

message 504: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (aeriga) I finished The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong & The Awakening (Darkest Powers, #2) by Kelley Armstrong they were actually really good and an easy read. Now I'm trying to get through Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins

message 505: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Finished Acheron. Loved the book. I'm switching betweengenres books. I'll be reading the next Sherrilyn Kenyon book in the series next.

Julia | 119 comments This morning I finished Middlesex Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides

No witches, weres, vamps or other beasties, but it is very good!

Next up, I'm finally getting around to The Hunger Games [image error]

Paula (pauldajo) Deborah wrote: "I loved the Lily Bard series. Have you read her new one? (Harper)

I haven't read the Harper series yet. I hope to get the first book on audiobook. It's a bit expensive on Amazon, but maybe my library has it. Otherwise I'll buy the paperback. The zapped by lightning premise sounds interesting.

Carolyn F. Started One Silent Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I'm hoping she doesn't make Stryker a sympathetic character.

message 514: by Amanda (last edited Dec 24, 2009 10:30AM) (new)

Amanda (aeriga) I just finished Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins and it was really good. I did prefer Hunger games but I will deff read the new one when it comes out...

Dark Lover is a great start to an awesome series. I hope you both like it Heather & Amanda! It's almost as if it's a classic in the genre.

message 517: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finally finished Knitting Bones by Monica Ferris. It had been sitting on my night stand for about a year. I'm going to start another night stand book. Let's see, I spy Lament The Faerie Queen's Deception. That's my next read. I am going to start listening to Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn.

I'm not very far into it but I'm really liking it so far, are all the books in the series as good as this one?

Personally, I like some of the later books even more. I'm glad to hear you're liking it!

message 520: by Heather B (last edited Dec 24, 2009 08:23PM) (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) That's always good if the later ones are even better, especially if the first one is really as good as I've heard it is.

message 521: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I just finished Dark Nights, Dark Dreams Sisterhood of the Sight which I enjoyed. I liked the hero and the heroine but disliked the high handedness of the US Governments covert ops.

Also read Midnight Kiss which was really good. About a producer who is producing a vampire movie and all kinds of vampire-like things keep happening to sabotage the movie.

Read Edge of Desire - book 3 which is terrible. The hero is a whiny pain in the ass who can't make up his mind about the heroine. His waffeling is very annoying. The ending is great but the book itself is awful which is surprising because the first two books were rather good.

Currently reading Sex & Sensibility which sounds interesting and sexy.

message 522: by new_user (new)

new_user I love that title, Barb! Sex & Sensibility, LOL.

message 523: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) Finishing up Blood Lite (Includes Dark Hunter, Related books, #9) by Kevin J. Anderson

Getting ready to start Must Love Hellhounds (Includes Guild Hunters, #1.5; The Guardians, #9) by Ilona Andrews

message 524: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I just finished Red (Dead World, #1) by Jordan Summers and really enjoyed it. It was kind of a Sci-Fi-ish paranormal romance about werewolves. A really good 1st book in the series. A really strong heroine lead character, which I love! I moving on to Eve of Destruction (Marked, Book 2) by S.J. Day next.

I tried to start Must Love Hellhounds and couldn't get into the short stories. Let me know if there's one you liked particularly.

message 526: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I finished The Demon's Daughter. This book was pretty good. The story was different enough from other PNR books. I really liked the main character Roxanne.

I also finished Man of My Dreams. I liked this anthology. I also read Dream Warrior. I liked this book a lot.

Starting A Hunger Like No Other today. First Kresley Cole I've read, I think.

message 527: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) I don't know what book to read next it's between Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender The Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore The Van Alen Legacy (Blue Bloods, #4) by Melissa de la Cruz Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick Devoured by Amanda Marrone The Host by Stephenie Meyer Testimony by Anita Shreve Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater
Anyone has any suggestion as to which one I should read first?

message 528: by [deleted user] (new)

Shiver!! I just finished it and thought it was awesome.

message 529: by Shanon (new)

Shanon (boban) | 1166 comments Mod
The only one I've read from your list Heather is The Host. It was good but I have no idea how good compared to the others. You have some very interesting books to choose from though.

I just picked Shiver up from the library this morning so I'll be starting it soon.

message 530: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (aeriga) I haven't read any on your list but have added them all to my to-read list lol. I was considering Hush, because i see it every time i go to the bookstore but have just never picked it up.

message 532: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Finished A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole . About halfway through the book, I was really sick of Emma. It did end okay. I'm still going to read a couple of Kresley Cole's other books, as I have 2 at home. Hopefully I'll like them more.

message 533: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished Lament The Faerie Queen's Deception and finally completed Catching Fire. I am now reading The Hunger Games and Storm Front for the 2nd time.

Amanda (aeriga) I just finished Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward (which was awesome and I'm deff gonna read the others), and I think I'll start Dhampir (Noble Dead, Series 1, #1) by Barb Hendee next...but I have so many series going lol I'll have to read them in between the different group reads :p but on the bright side I don't have to wait for a continuation to come out.

message 540: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah_anne) | 60 comments Last night, I finished Traitor to the Blood and am kind of burnt out on the series for now. I have the next two books in series, but am setting them aside.

I did, however, start reading Red. It's different, but I haven't read enough to know if I like it or not.

message 542: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (aeriga) Lol I have them downloaded on my book reader...but I like to do the group reads first..so I Gould be starting #2 in a few days or so

message 543: by Heather B (new)

Heather B (heatherbenson) I think that I'm going to take my time reading them cause when I'm don't I'm pretty sure that I'll want to read more, so I'm going to read a few book inbetween each to streach it out more.

The Donovan Series (4 book) and The Key Trilogy
also have paranormal elements. The Donanvan books have a witch theme, they all have a different power. Both series/trilogies are really good, as are all the one Yz the Whyz mentioned. Midnight Bayou is good too, but is a novel.

message 550: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Finished Seduced by Magic. I'll have to read another of her books before I make up my mind about this author. Started Kiss of a Demon King and really like this book. Didn't care for the first Kresley Cole book I read, but this one is really good so far.
