Anyway I like Beth a lot.And I still have to get used to Wrath,but otherwise the book's great.

While I was re-reading, I was amazed at how far the characters have come in the series.

And I agree, Beth is great! I think all of the shellans are amazing!

Oh yes! She changes quite a bit, becomes more likeable and stronger in the next books. But if I had to rank all the shellans, she would not be my favorite.

I really liked reading Rhage's and Zsadist's stories, I think they are book 2 and 3 :)

I was reading the glossary of terms earlier and it said that males reacted to females in their needing and for females in their needing who did not have a mate, that males around her could get aggressive with each other in regards to the female so maybe male blood relatives get some sort of cue to get out of the way for a while? Or maybe I am reading way to much into it :-p (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ not that i am defending Wrath because i agree the what Wrath said about not servicing Beth in her needing and the way he said it to her was even worse but obviously Beth had some idea about Wrath's feelings about the subject given she was going to see Layla in secret.

Surely though when Wrath re took up the title of King, he must have been aware that for it to be worth something it needed to continue on after him no matter how long lived a race they may be. Obviously it is a fear of loss that holds him to his beliefs but I am really hoping that fear won't lose him Beth altogether because she is right it is a partnership and he needs to be taking her feelings into account rather than issuing decrees to her (hide spoiler)]

finished (view spoiler)[ I thought the ending felt a little rushed like the author couldn't wait to get to the end and I think my idea of a democracy may be a bit different from J R Ward's as i was a little surprised that he was elected for life. And even if the commoners voted for Wrath, I doubt those of the former glymera would so saying it was unanimous, whilst I think I understand the angle the author was going for seems a little far fetched. There were some tears for me towards the end like when Wrath got so excited we was having a son and was shoving the ultra sound picture in everyone's face. i wasn't even sure he know what an ultrasound photo was LOL (hide spoiler)]
