I never really liked fantasy. Maybe it's because I grew up not liking books and I just started reading a year ago and only read Christian Fiction or Christian Romance.

Rachel I've not heard of most of what everyone else picked :). I recognized a few classics on a few lists that I know and love also, but, yeah, didn't recognize anything on Ashley's list. :) Oh wait, I have heard of The Lightening Thief; I just haven't read it yet.

That's fine. :) TC's comment of the Bible being its own category kind of resonated with me. I think of it more as the manual for life success. Well, success isn't the best word, but I can't think of what I really mean just now. :)

Jennah wrote: "#12 Ice Breaker: List your 10 favorite books. :D"

Besides the Bible, of course, because it's better than any of these books, these are my favorite books.

#10: Ella Enchanted
#9: Fairest
#8: The Two Princesses of Bamarre
#7: Moonrise
#6: The Battle of the Labyrinth
#5: The Lightning Thief
#4: The Outcasts
#3: The Ruins of Gorlan
#2: The Burning Bridge I liked the second book better than the first of Ranger's Apprentice, but just barely.

And my all time-favorite book...Play to the Angel! I loved that book, and I would read it over and over and over again!

Yes, and I also like how most his songs are based on the stories from Scripture. Another artist my dad really likes does that too, David Ingalls, but he's a folk singer (my husband called him southern gospel, and I'm like NO, NO, NO), so I have to be in the mood for him. :)

message 688: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Yes, when I'm in the mood, I find his songs very fun as well as Biblically true; you can't be anything but happy singing along to: "I'm of the seed of Abraham, and his blessing rests on me...I'm not moved by what I see... Jesus was made a surety, and that's what I believe!" "I am the head and not the tail; I'm above and not beneath...I am blessed in the city; I am blessed in the field...blessed when I come and when I go, even to the heighth and breadth of where my foot has been!" "I am healed; I am whole from the top of my head to the soles to the tip of my toes.... Isaiah (something, something) says we are, and if we are, then I am!... 1 Peter 2:24 says we were, and if we were, then I am!"

i totally agree with all of those!! except the order (tobymac definitely is in the top!) and Skillet. Not a big fan of heavy-metal-ish songs

message 691: by [deleted user] (new)

we have TAPES of Michael Card. lol

I like Michael W Smith, Jaci Velasqez, Meredith Andrews, Sidewalk Prophets, Chris Tomlin… and when in the southern gospel mood, the Crabb family, the Isaacs... and others I can't remember but probably won't interest you. :)

Yes, yes, tapes. I know. I grew up in the switch over from tapes to CDs. :) It was a sad day when I threw away the last of my tapes because I had nothing to play them on anymore plus they were getting a bit old anyway. :)

message 693: by [deleted user] (new)

I have a cassette player that I use once in a while. :)

message 694: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Well, our CD player actually does have a tape deck, but I have no idea if it works since we don't really have tapes anymore. :)

message 695: by Ann (new)

Ann Maertins (chatterann) We still have a cassette player (or 2) and our CD also has a tape deck...and i think my dad uses it once in a while...but i don't. But when I was little we had this whole collection of Bible songs for kids tapes we listened to all the time. :)
