i finally finished this about two days ago. the ending was exciting, but i really got confused by some of the details. there was so much going on! I was really confused about (view spoiler)[whether Morpheus intended to trap Alysa there or not. I mean he was giving her the wish and telling her to wish "to be free of Red's influence" so wouldn't that have freed her from possibly being possessed?! also, if that was the case, how would Morpheus have freed Ivory if Jeb didn't make his sacrifice? see...so much plot in this book! if i read the second book, i have no idea how i'll remember it all.
i also don't think it helps that i read this book over the course of an entire month, with lots of times me putting it down for a week at a time.

Chapter 5. (view spoiler)[ I was so confused when she was coming back from almost drowning. The contrast between the mud and water. You really cant tell when she passed out. Jebs present and surprise picnic was really sweet though. I understand that her moms anger is coming more from a place of fear at the thought of almost loosing her, but its not like jeb took her there and was planning in it flooding. Morpheus seems to be up to his old manipulitive tricks. Im sure wonderland really is in need of help, but Morpheus always seems to have a hidden ajenda. He uses a bad situation and gets people to fix it in a way that benafits him the most. Maby i should give him the benafit of the dought, that he really does just want to save wonderland from being destroyed, it being his home and all, but knowing what hes like, there will be more fringe benafits for him than simply keeping his home in takt.

I actrually just try for about 50 pages a day. Give or take a few. Theres 25 chapters and 387 pages. I figure it will take me between 5 and 8 days depending on how much im able to read a day.

Chapters 1-5: (view spoiler)[ Jeb is being a good boyfriend in these few chapters but I just can't bring myself to approve of him. I haven't forgotten how overbearing he was in Splintered; there is a difference between protectiveness and possessiveness and Jeb didn't seem to get that difference. Besides, there's Morpheus. I'm not saying Morpheus is perfect but he's just so much more interesting.
But I agree with you, Jora, that Alyssa's near-death experience was totally not Jeb's fault. Maybe it was Morpheus' fault? That part was really unclear, like you said. I also wonder what he's up to this time.

Finished chapter 8. (view spoiler)[ Morpheus is so manipulative. All Alysa wants is to say goodbye to her family and boyfriend before going off to face the red queen and possible death. Morpheus is setting up problems that he doesn't need to and trying to force her to do what he wants without any concern for her. She has already said she will do what he wants. She just wants closure.

I'm not sure what is going on with the evil clown doll. Morpheus may or may not have anything to do with it. I want to know what happened to the ragdoll that was attached to the clown doll in her memory. (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

Through Chapter 10. (view spoiler)[ The horror part of the book is the most interesting to me right now. I was pretty freaked reading about the clown doll... I don't like clowns and I really don't like dolls that move on their own. If Morpheus doesn't control the clown, who does? I'm a bit scared to find out.
I see your point Jora. While Morpheus has the most complex character and seems to drive the plot of the series almost singlehandedly, I'm starting to think he's not a good fit for Alyssa. Or rather, Alyssa isn't a good fit for him. She's always holding back and trying to delay Morpheus. They just don't suit each other.

Its good for him to get a reminder that hes not the only one who can scare someone into doing what they want. I feel bad for Alyssas mom because we dont really know much about what she went through or why she did the thangs she did. So much fighting in the last few chapters. Theres ben so many lies between everyone its hard to keep track of them all. Rabid White seems like he would be adoribl. Im sure he will be happy to get back to wonderland. (view spoiler)[ Honestly unlike you I don't feel bad for Aly's mom at all. I never trusted her but who knew she was such a powerhungry liar! I wouldn't forgive her mother if I were Aly.
I'm frustrated with Aly. Why can't she just tell Jeb the truth? If Jeb finds out any other way it will be horrible on their relationship. I also think Aly should stay away from both Morpheus and her mother until she can be absolutely sure what their motives are.

Through chapter 20. (view spoiler)[ Morpheus really needs to work on his need to manipulate everyone. He has made the bigest mes of things trying to acomplish something that would happen anyway if he were just strate forward about things from the beggining. If he had gone to Alyssa with the truth in the first place instead of trying to trick her into doing things, i think she would have been much more receptive to the plan and done what needed to be done with a lot less backlash and unforseen consequinces for so many people. By the time they reveal who Ivory is you can pretty much guess who she really is. And they should have known one of the sisters was there from all the webbing everywhere. I mean really twin spider sisters and they keep getting to places and finding out there was a sister there. Chapters 21 & 22.(view spoiler)[ I love the train. It would be so cool to have a train like that. I figured the boy was Alyssas father, buts its nice what her mom did for him anyway. I understand alyssas mom not wanting to see any more of his past after figuring out that he must have gone through anywhere land before finding himself in wonderland. Maby its a good thing that he doesnt remember his past. At least not all the nightmearish things he must have seen in anywhere. And now Alyssa knows how bad it could be for him to see her in her true form or doing magic. To think how close she came to doing magic in front of him and telling him everything.
