SOLVED. MG/YA Girl whose family talks to ghosts [s]

I read this probably around 4 years ago, so that would be 2009 or so. It's on the line between middle grade and young adult. The main character is a girl who is in high-school, and whose family has connections with ghosts, including herself, but she had some self-issues with this.

She goes to school, I believe it was her first day, and meets a boy in her history class that she has to do an assignment with. The boy wears a camouflage hoodie. They go to some sort of museum at some point together, traveling by her family's car which has to be jump-started to drive, and the boy thinks is cool that she knows how to do that. Neither of them are very enthused about working with each other. They are both very snappy while at the museum.

She discovers that he has a dead brother, and she can communicate with him. Here's where my memory gets fuzzy. I can't remember it perfectly, but here goes:

(view spoiler)[ I can't remember how early on she decided to reveal to the kid that she could talk to his dead brother, or whether she was reluctant about it, but she did at one point, and he died when he went camping, I think. The kid was incredulous and didn't believe her, and was irritated about her talking about it. He made her prove it to him, which she did by telling him one of their inside jokes that had something to do with star wars. There is (I'm pretty sure--I might be getting this mixed up with other ghost stories) a point where ghosts are in between life and the afterlife, where they have to sort some things out or something like that. The ghost is in that state, and is recruiting this girl to help him out. After that I don't remember, but at the end of the book, just before the ghost boy passes into the next world, he tells the girl to kiss the boy, and I'm pretty sure he did that in a dream. She kisses him, and the book is over. (hide spoiler)]

Probably The Secret Life of Sparrow Delaney. Sparrow and her assignment partner do visit a museum of the occult together. Sparrow is the one in her family who has the strongest connection to the dead, but she doesn't want her family to know, because she is embarrassed by their divining business.

Yes, that's it! I wasn't sure at first, as the title sounded familiar, but not as familiar as I'd like. What finally made me sure was a review mentioning that the sisters were all named for birds--Didn't remember that at the time of the post, but for some reason that struck a memory!
