Carlissa SYNC is offering 2 free audiobooks each week for 9 weeks again this summer starting May 30. 1 audio will be YA and 1 will be a classic. I got several audios last year, and it looks like a nice selection this year.

Dee (austhokie) | 1947 comments I love this program - I have done it the last 2 summers and gotten some really good books

Heidi | 1546 comments Thanks! I was just thinking about this the other day :)

Kristie | 2212 comments Yea! I was hoping they'd do this again. I will have to let my niece know, too. It's fun to compare books with her.

Shirley (shirleythekindlereader) | 493 comments Thanks so much great titles.

message 6: by Chris (new)

Chris (chrismd) | 50 comments Thanks! I listened to Will Patton read The Raven Boys and enjoyed it.

message 7: by Tim (new)

Tim | 167 comments I quite liked The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. It's a collection of some of the Sherlock Holmes short stories, including at least one that was the basis for a Sherlock episode.

binter | 218 comments Great! Some real winners here. Can't wait.

message 9: by Seth (new)

Seth Jones (sayeth) | 19 comments I haven't listened to any of these versions of the audiobooks, but I love The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Letter from the Birmingham Jail, like Jane Eyre, and appreciate Frankenstein, and the two Shakespeare plays as great works of literature. Has anyone read the other books? Any recommendations? I'm planning to download them all, since they're free, but wanted to know which ones I should read first.

message 10: by Tim (new)

Tim | 167 comments If you look after the cover images, you'll see that they make available 2 books each week (and only for that week). So, just go in order. The only trick is remembering to check at least once a week for the new books.

message 11: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 1947 comments I liked Grave Mercy - I mean Assassin nuns!! Lol

Verena (pidgeon92) | 60 comments When you download from Sync, take care and make sure you get all of the parts in the Overdrive download. I got last year's books, and one of the books didn't get the last file downloaded. I was rather annoyed when the book "ended" right in the middle of a sentence. Of course, I listened to this long after the promotion was over, and thus couldn't re-download. There was all of 20 minutes left in the book. I've been trying to get the audio CDs from the Chicago Public Library to no avail.

Thanks for the warning!

Which audio are you missing a file from? I downloaded most of last year's audios and I may be able to send you the missing part.

message 15: by Verena (new)

Verena (pidgeon92) | 60 comments Carlissa, it was The Eleventh Plague. I ended up with 6:40 of audio. Everything past that is missing. I assume it was the last file that was missing, and not that the last file somehow got truncated.

message 16: by Tim (new)

Tim | 167 comments I have 6:58 of audio for The Eleventh Plague and 6 files. I think the last file for you is truncated. I have it as 75 minutes and 24 seconds.

Whoa! I had problems with dnloading The Eleventh Plague too! I thought that it was just me, but now that you mention it, I recall being really annoyed that I wasn't going to able to finish listening to it. Fortunately for me, however, I was able to get the CDs from the library. Did anyone else here have issues with dnloading The Eleventh Plague?

message 18: by Carlissa (new)

Carlissa I'm showing 6 files for The Eleventh Plague, and the 6th part is 1 hr 14 minutes 26 seconds (all parts should be over an hour long). If your part 6 is less than that, then it didn't download properly. If you need the last part, let me know.

Charleen (morriganalexandros) | 11 comments I love this program. I've listened to great books because of this.

message 20: by Fran (new)

Fran Wilkins | 824 comments Daughter of Smoke & Bone was just one of the award winning titles that was offered last summer. Yay for this program. It has definitely expanded my listening horizons.

I just got my email this week. Can't wait!

message 23: by Shawn (new)

Shawn (shawn123) | 73 comments Wow thank you! I just subscribed to their email list. I am trying to reread all of the classics as an adult and this will be a big help!

message 24: by Empress (new)

Empress (the_empress) | 5 comments Do I need to register, because I don't see such an option, or the download links will become available without registering?

Thank you.

You do not have to register! It would be a good idea to sign up for their email alerts so you know when each set of audios will be available to download.

Verena (pidgeon92) | 60 comments Ellie wrote: "Do I need to register, because I don't see such an option, or the download links will become available without registering?."

I remember last year I had to enter my email address each time I tried to download a book. If I wanted both books that were available that week, I had to enter my email twice.

message 27: by Leslie (last edited Jun 06, 2013 05:53PM) (new)

Leslie | 581 comments New books as of today... Jane Eyre and The Mysterious Howling, I think.

Verena is correct, each time you want to download you enter your name & email.

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 1 comments Free at SYNC from June 13 – June 19, 2013:

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, wow, the Maggie Shefvalter (sp) sounds good!

message 30: by Chris (new)

Chris (chrismd) | 50 comments I recommend the Steifvater. I listened to it earlier this year and Will Patton did a great job with it.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't have time for it now - do you know if Audible has it?

message 32: by Ann (new)

Ann | 81 comments You can download it now and listen to it forever! :)

It doesn't expire so download it now and listen to it when you have time!

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Ohhh, good :). Going there now!

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Done! Thanks :)

message 36: by Ann (new)

Ann | 81 comments I love their program, it's just the best! :)

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

I didn't realize it would DL to Overdrive, that's perfect.

message 38: by Ann (new)

Ann | 81 comments Overdrive is what my library uses, so it really works well for me. This is my 3rd year on the summer program ... it's how I got addicted to YA, lol. Just love it! :)

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm going overseas next week, so I guess it's wise to stock up for the plane ride :)

message 40: by Ann (new)

Ann | 81 comments I sure would! That's one long plane ride ... not that I know where you're going, but I think anywhere you go you'd have time to finish a book, lol! But will you miss the next set? Awwww :(

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

We're off to Norway (7 family members, ages 79-2) for a cruise of the fjords. So the flights back and forth will be 7 hours each way.

I may miss the next set, yes, as Internet access is iffy (and expensive!) out at sea.

message 42: by Ann (new)

Ann | 81 comments Ooooh, Norway! Never been, would love to go! That should be wonderful as a family trip. :) Definitely books, lol, for 2 flights and a cruise. Well maybe you can find someone to share the next set when you get back. I can imagine internet at sea is ... iffy! But what wonderful memories you will be making ... :D

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes indeed :D
