Turtlecollector Dennis The mods get worried when a new book hasn't been posted in three updates. I figured that Gemma was doing lots of new baby stuff and she is only one book under her average target as of Friday May 31, which seems fine to me.

Reading moods go up and down and as long as someone is close to where they could potentially be and not drastically off their goal, I am fine with that.

Dee is at her goal as well, but I used to see updates on her currently reading book so I knew she was still around even when she didn't post in our thread. I wasn't seeing any sort of posting, but I am glad you have seen her online.

I think that if they haven't checked in to the thread by Sunday though we might want to send them a PM.

Very true. We do look at overall goal, though, and take that into account. ☺

Turtlecollector Dennis Impressive work on the new page for Other Teams Books in our spreadsheet. It is much easier to look there than to click on everyone's link to their challenge page, but I wouldn't have had the energy to get that far on it. And since these are from before the challenge starts, we don't have to worry about whether we read a book after the enemy team member or not.

Unless you use a "blinkie" cupcake.

And I have to figure out where Jojiwoji(?) stopped so I don't double it. :D

Again 'blinkie' :D
I thought 'blinkie' works for our team books.

Turtlecollector Dennis Our spreadsheet does seem to be getting a lot of pages in it. I have another one I made to keep track of all the teams in the June/July challenge when they complete a category so that we can give our team updates on everybody if we want and I am sure the mods will have one as well.

Do you think it would be easier to have a separate spreadsheet for the challenges from our spreadsheet for the team totals? Right now it doesn't seem bad, but if we keep adding pages for the new challenges, by the end of this round we will have a lot of pages on there.

Another option would be one spreadsheet for Inter-team Challenges and our Hobbit games mini-challenges could stay on the spreadsheet with team totals. It really does not matter to me and it is easy to make new ones and move the pages we already have to the new spreadsheet.

The main thing would be whether you want to open more than one spreadsheet at a time to work on updates or if it is easier for you just to find the right page in one spreadsheet.

Turtlecollector Dennis I will be working on tallying all the blue books read this month for our mini-challenge tonight and tomorrow.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments You are spreadsheet master so I'm going with your decision. :D
I'm fine with searching right page.
But it would be great if we could 'hide' this other team book list so other teams can't use it (we did all the work!)
And speaking of spreadsheet, is it possible to move that avr by date column one space to the left? I keep changing wrong column :D I guess that green is just not standing out for me enough :D

Oh! Very true. Maybe in a future challenge the "blinkie" will work that way. Certainly thinking about it with regards to "chunksters."

I will do that next time I am on my laptop and not at work, probably tonight. I have already moved it closer than I had it originally so I could see it and compare it better to the read total. I can put an empty column between them and that should help I think.

I wish we could 'hide' it too, but the only option so far is anyone with the link can see the spreadsheet or only the people with email addresses we add to the list can see it. Then we would need to get the email for everyone on our team and add them individually.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments Our stealth mission is complete. ☺

Can I go and wash paint off again?

Turtlecollector Dennis Yes, please do. We don't want the other teams to know what you were up to:)

Moderators of NBRC | 1212 comments Mod
Ohhhhhhh...interesting.

Turtlecollector Dennis Tea, does the column left empty in between them help?

message 316: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited May 31, 2013 08:13PM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis Mods posted new info they want for Sunday and other updates in the Captain's group. I am going through everyone tonight and making sure all books match up, none have been missed and page numbers qualify before the June challenge starts. They would like us to do this twice a month.

I know we check the page numbers every time a book is added, but we need to check the member's read shelf too once in a while to make sure books that can be tagged with the team shelf are not missed. So far, I see that our team is really good about not missing a book so I do not think this will be a problem. (I think we probably do this already, I just don't know if we all do it at the same rate and if it gets done at least twice a month like the mods are asking now)

Since we check the page numbers when a book is added- on the update, the last date page numbers have been checked will always be the current day of the update. Maybe we should make the date checked column on the spreadsheet mean the last date we compared the read shelf to the team shelf.

I really like that new page that Jojiwoji and you did. Congratulations on finishing it now.

Turtlecollector Dennis I added the most recent book added to member challenge page temporarily in the column after the time area column on our spreadsheet in case dates get us confused as to the first book to count for this challenge.

Thanks. That's great :D

I do check read shelf every time I add book, since I'm looking for date read. I started when Karen didn't tag her books so I can keep track how many we are missing :D

I think it was Mon or Tue when I saw Dee last online (I'm not checking it every day). Someone should PM her just to see is everything OK. And Jenny has 72 pg book tagged for here :D

joanne (cabeswaters) Just wondering how often we should update the sheet.
I was thinking maybe once a week, but how would we do it?
Look at the last books read by each member, and add the ones read after?

I can go check from time to time. On my spreadsheet I can easily track last read book.
(And I still have little paint left ☺)

PS I think we have spies! We need to work on our code speech ☺

message 322: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Jun 01, 2013 06:28PM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis This is a spreadsheet I am planning to use when teams start posting completed categories so we can update our team on the other teams' progress as well. I made it a separate spreadsheet from our team one because there is so much information.

June/July 7% Solution

message 323: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments Wow! You actually planned to track other teams too?!
Good work, BTW. ☺

message 324: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Jun 01, 2013 07:04AM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis Google is frustrating me now. It is not letting me add you and Jojiwoji but at least you can look at it. It keeps saying try again later.

I originally started out looking for an easier way to track books for Behind Enemy Lines for our team, but this is what I ended up with. A way to track everything else. What do you expect from a spreadsheet-aholic? ☺

message 325: by ❀Tea❀ (last edited Jun 01, 2013 07:03AM) (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments How about copying that page to new spreadsheet (if only we are going to see it)?

And, I'm staying out of updating this challenge. I promised Jojiwoji :D Unless, you need more help ☺

Turtlecollector Dennis She may want help keeping the spreadsheets updated even if she is the one who posts the updates for the team. This is a complicated challenge and I will probably have read almost 49 books myself by the end of it. It doesn't hurt to have you on there just in case.

I didn't know if anyone would want to use the second spreadsheet, but it doesn't hurt to have it. I like to know how the other teams are doing. I am a nosy curious person.

*mixing more paint and sends it to TC*

Turtlecollector Dennis Did both of you email in the bookcover scramble? That is one of the puzzles where each name listed will give more options for using 'blinkie' cupcakes. According to the cupcake spreadsheet, so will puzzle #35 when it is ready. I just love puzzles but they are cutting into my reading time.

message 329: by Vi (new)

Vi Hope you don't mind that I peeked in but awesome work with the Spreadsheet, Turtlecollector!!

message 330: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments I did, and by Jojiwoji's comment I think she did too.
I don't have trouble with puzzles only. Lately GR is also distracting me from reading. I switched to audio while going through enemy shelfs ☺ Problem is I'm almost finished with book and I still have RL work to do (for which I planned to use that audio)

message 337: by joanne (last edited Jun 01, 2013 08:45PM) (new)

joanne (cabeswaters) TC, I think you should copy that page over to the new spreadsheet and once we have the link saved, take down the links to it so that spies can't get in :D

message 338: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Jun 01, 2013 06:33PM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis I copied that page over to the new 7% spreadsheet.

Turtlecollector Dennis I have a version of it without our secret page if LK has already seen it and might want to borrow it for her own use and give us an extra cupcake or two:)

*blatantly trying to get more cupcakes for our team*

Turtlecollector Dennis I could copy the June book list over to that spreadsheet as well and then all the updating for this challenge could be in the same spreadsheet. Do you think the other team members are going to be looking on the spreadsheet for updates or just wait for us to post an update?

Turtlecollector Dennis Jojiwoji- are you going to PM Dee since you are tracking her books to see what she is up to or should I do it? Either way is fine with me.

Turtlecollector Dennis Nobody else. All the relevant posts have already been deleted. They all had to do with our surprise from yesterday when you were asleep. You can check out post 322 to see it.
