It sounds like Jenny thinks she has joined. However, as of this date and time, she has NOT.

I checked the "Members" in the upper right and corner, plus her Profile page, which does NOT show this group listed under her groups.

Sounds like she needs more help.

Moderators of NBRC | 1212 comments Mod
Never mind. I just received a "request to join" from Jenny and accepted.

Turtlecollector Dennis I was just trying to send her another message with the picture in it again to try to help. I think it will be easier to get her to the right place now that she is a member. The links will let her post things and not just look at the page.

Turtlecollector Dennis I sent her a PM about making a shelf and the link to our main challenge page again. I hope that might be easier for her to understand than following posts on the thread. She is new to GR(joined this month) and it seems as if she is still having a little trouble navigating around. If I know name of the shelf when she is done with that, do you still need her to post on the name of your bookshelf thread as well?

Turtlecollector Dennis I also went back and changed the shelf links on the spreadsheet so that the books are already sorted by date read when the link is clicked.

Yes, I've tried to do that, too, as it makes it sooooo much easier. However, I don't know which ones Sonia did and which ones I did. I'll double check them...eventually.

Turtlecollector Dennis I like that Jojiwoji. Just putting finishing touches on the spreadsheet for the RaT so that early Wednesday morning I can add the starting page numbers and we will be off.

awesome guys for all the notifications they do help .:D

Turtlecollector Dennis Jenny, did you use the shelf jenny-cerulean-aka-hobbit-blue 2013 for the main challenge page?

Turtlecollector Dennis Jojiwoji, I am figuring out which shelf Jenny is using and then I will make sure the link on the spreadsheet is correct. She has two shelves with the hobbit theme and one has books on it and one doesn't.

Jenny (jennysalgado) yes ,I am trying to add som of the books I read this april so far ,it is takindg a while to fill this shelf .

That is fine, I just needed to make sure which one it was since you had two with hobbit in the name. The captains will also be checking your books so we can help tell which ones need the shelf tag or not. When you add the books to the shelf make sure to add the date you finished the book. You can add the books you are reading to the shelf but they will not be counted until they are marked as read and have a finished date.

message 166: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennysalgado) the shelf is :cerulean-aka-hobbit-blue-2013

message 167: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Apr 29, 2013 05:11PM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis Thanks. You may need to go back to the main challenge page and update your info to that shelf because I think it is using the jenny-cerulean-... one

message 168: by joanne (new)

joanne (cabeswaters) The easiest way to do it would be to go to books read and sort by read date.
As far as I can tell, the books you can add are:

Wicked Business by Janet Evanovich
Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore
The Book of Crystal Healing by Liz Simpson
and
The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead

No, The Book of Crystal Healing is too short. The other ones will work.

message 170: by joanne (new)

joanne (cabeswaters) Ok - I didn't check page numbers

message 171: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennysalgado) Thanx guys I am trying to sort more books from my previews listings Since I just joined good-reads I do not have to much in the house reading also some books in my listings come from life read books ,it is a real challenge :) do like to get info also as well :)

Turtlecollector Dennis Also Jenny, was the change to 10 because you think you can read more than your previous goal?

message 173: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Apr 29, 2013 05:47PM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis Jenny -

If you can add the date read to the books you have read this month, Jojiwoji can send you a PM about which books to add to the shelf if that helps. Or I will if for some reason she can't. Jojiwoji will be the captain that checks your books to make sure they are counting correctly.

message 174: by joanne (new)

joanne (cabeswaters) I can do it, its fine.

Turtlecollector Dennis OK, the RaTMay spreadsheet is all set for the Read-a-Thon. If you want to play around or test something use the tab for RaT Template. From my test numbers, which I deleted before remembering to write them down-sorry, it looks like everyone should be able to reach their target goal. But, we still have 10 days to change something if we need to.

message 176: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennysalgado) Ok guys ,I am good with Jojiwoji checking out my listings ,also new info is fine with me have a good morning:)

Turtlecollector, Jenny has three books posted and all ✔★✖❀ icons on Google Team Assignment Spreadsheet. Woohoo!

Turtlecollector Dennis Yes, I think we might have it all settled now. Her shelf is cerulean-aka-hobbit-blue-2013. Do you still need her to post on the bookshelf thread?

Turtlecollector Dennis Jojiwoji, sorry, but I went ahead with Jenny because I wanted to get her shelf sorted out before the Read-a-Thon started. I told her that you would help her out as she finished her books since that is probably easier than trying to deal with currently-reading books. She is all yours now.

It looks like she put her currently reading books on the shelf, but they won't count until a date read is added to it, so that should be all right.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments We never discussed how are we going to keep RaT update. Only our members or all of them when you notice a change?

Yes, perfectly fine to "tag" your books before you read them. ☺

Turtlecollector Dennis I think just our members at least once a day. The post says the mods want updates every few hours from us. I was thinking since the three of us are separated by so many hours that each of us trying to do it at a same certain time of day would be like three updates per day. I don't know when you check in to GR, but if we all check in either before work/school or after work/school whenever that is for each of us, that would be like getting 3 updates per day since we are each 8/9 hrs apart.

For example, if we all check in 8am our own time(the time difference isn't exact because I am trying from memory to get hr differences):
8am my time = 5pm for Tea = 2am(next day) for Jojiwoji
8am for Tea = 5pm for Jojiwoji = 11pm(day before) for me
8am for Jojiwoji = 2 pm(day before) for me = 11pm(day before) for Tea

So I would be seeing updates at 8am, 2pm and 11pm if I have all my time changes correct without overextending any one person.

There doesn't necessarily need to be a specific time but close to one, say as close to 8am as you can if 8am was chosen. My schedule at work changes a bit but I am usually free around 4-6pm and early mornings before 9am my time for something that might take longer(such as an update) than a quick check of new posts on the threads. Or after 8pm(the latest I get off of work) on any day if you think it would be easier for checkins in the evenings.

This is just an idea to get the multiple updates it seems the mods originally wanted from their post. I am happy to do an update in my mornings(I am very much a morning person) and evenings before I go to bed if I need to which would give two updates per day for the Read-a-Thon.

There are a couple of days at the end of the Read-a-Thon though where I will be housesitting and dogsitting where I will not be online as much. There is no wireless internet there, so I can't just turn on my laptop and refresh every once in awhile. I will need to use their desktop computer or come home to my apartment for a couple of hours to use my laptop.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments I work mostly from home so I can check whenever needed. Only times I'm definitely away are Mondays and Thursdays afternoon. Then I don't have access to comp or net so no way to check in (and don't get home before 10pm). Rest is usually few hours in the middle of the day (but in those cases I can check in before I leave or after when I'm back).

As for those dogsitting days, we'll cover for you :)

message 185: by joanne (new)

joanne (cabeswaters) I'll probably be doing mine a bit earlier, about 7.30 my time as I usually out by about 8. That being said, my members don't read much so it shouldn't be too difficult

Yes, they don't. But since we need to do update for mods few times a day (?) (probably in their thread ?) you'll need to check all members, not just yours. If you don't have time or something else, let me know. I'm still awake at that time (11:30pm) so I can do it.

Anyone available to do a quick check of a Word Find puzzle?

Turtlecollector Dennis Yes I am here for the next two hours before I have to go to work.

Yeah, I've opened it again where I made it and it became pink! I'll try again. If not, there is another (not movin) one.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments I've updated RaT sheet with Ezi's and mine book, but page count in both of our stats didn't yet change.

@Jojiwoji, I've also updated Jenny's books in main sheet, but you'll have to check them again. She's adding books read before last one (I don't know how to explain it ☺)

Turtlecollector Dennis I have been periodically checking in today since Ezi said she finished her book to see how long it takes for the number to change, but I haven't seen a change either. I have been sneaking these checks in at work.

Also, although I work in a library, we are not really supposed to read at work so we can look available to help the patrons. However, I have also snuck in a few minutes of reading when not on the public desk so I am halfway through 3 books now.

Maybe it'll change with that 'site update' or whatever is called that after 9pm your time.
If that's the case, there is no point in several updates per day to mods, since numbers won't be changing. :)

I'm off to bed to finish second book :)
Night :D

Turtlecollector Dennis Sleep well and I hope you you dream about reading.

Turtlecollector Dennis I am putting page numbers in parenthesis next to the title listed for team members in case something weird is happening with page count so we can add them up manually if we need to. We will see what happens soon when I check after 9pm to see if pages are updated.

Turtlecollector Dennis I am not sure what is going on with the page counts. Tea's and Ezi's has not changed and they posted their books earlier than I did. Mine has changed with my one book, but says my pages difference is 347 when the book has and is listed at 351 pgs.

Well, that can't be good, T. Was this before 30 minutes ago, or after? They do the update of the cache every night around 9 P.M PDT, which was 33 minutes ago.
