Ron (ronb626) | 3884 comments Sunny here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Not particularly warm, though. 44F. A little windy, but, not like yesterday. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable day here. Spent the morning with my daughter and youngest granddaughter. Well, my "youngest" is not actually here with us, yet. Will be in March, though.

Leigh | 6291 comments It's raining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dallas is giddy!! We haven't have any sort of rain here in LA in almost two months. The last "rain" we had was just an hour or two of a light mist. It's lovely.

message 403: by Kay (new)

Kay Faupel | 1028 comments Had to think about previous posting because Dallas(Texas) is next door. 55F and foggy in Arlington Texas, a pleasant change for this morning's dog walk.

Patrick (patrickgallagher) | 24 comments Hard to think of a single day in the last month without rain lots of small villages and towns affected by flooding we are used to lots of rainfall here in England but this month has been the worst in decades mind you it is fairly mild for the time of year had it been colder it might have fallen as snow and that is something we are not so used to coping with

message 405: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) It is a beautiful soft day here in south Florida.

message 406: by Ron (new)

Ron (ronb626) | 3884 comments Here in the Willamette Valley in Oregon(I'd post the name of the nearest town, but, even most locals don't know of it), it is raining. Not much, at the moment, but, still raining. Probably more of a mist, right now.

But, we've needed this rain for quite a while. After all, it's what keeps Oregon green!

Debbie (debala715) | -1 comments Between 9pm tonight to 7pm tomorrow night, they are expecting us to get 9" of heart attack heavy snow. I am so done with winter!!

Michael - what is a "soft" day?

message 409: by Pat (new)

Pat Haggar (TheOldTart) | 9 comments Here in England rain, rain and more rain. Parts of Somerset under water and people being ferried about in boats. Villages completely cut off by road. Heaviest rainfall for 100 years in parts of the UK. Here in Hampshire, grey skies and rain. Central heating on the blink so cold too.
Who said there was no such thing as Climate Change?

Michael Mardel (michaelpmardel) | 0 comments In north west Western Australia it is continually over 30 celsius. It's the wet season and it has rained, maybe 50 inches, which is half the average rainfall, I think. People have made the news being trapped in flooded roads, one man swam, walked 70 kms to get help.

message 412: by Leigh (new)

Leigh | 6291 comments With apologies to those that live in areas where it gets really cold; I AM FREEZING. I had to turn on my furnace. Here, in my area of LA, it is in the low 40s tonight.

message 424: by Ron (last edited Feb 06, 2014 07:09PM) (new)

Ron (ronb626) | 3884 comments Snowing down here in Oregon, too. Only about a third of our Tai Chi class showed up due to inclement weather and driving conditions. And cold. In the low 20's. While I realize that other parts of the country experience even lower temperatures, the lower 20's is very cold for this part of the country.

As I've told people many times, I wouldn't mind the snow so much if it could miss the roads.

Hate driving on snowy/icy roads and hate even more, how people drive in those conditions. So many people don't even seem to care that just a bit of frozen road can cause one to lose control of a speeding car. Or, even a not speeding car.

Leigh | 6291 comments Rained all day here in Los Angeles!! Yay!!! In the 60s for the next few days.

message 426: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) | 88 comments It's sunny & 14F here in Kennewick! Plus, last night, we got 2.8" of snow and they're threatening more today & tomorrow! (My dogs don't appreciate squatting and having cold stuff touch their private parts!)

message 427: by [deleted user] (new)

It has been snowing and bitter cold here in Colorado. We are suppose to have a bit of a warming tread here next week highs in the mid forties at least that is what they are calling for but out here you never know.

message 428: by Gunnar (new)

Gunnar Lawrence (gunnaralawrence) | 4 comments It's Florida, so last night was cold (70), today is warm, tomorrow will be hot and rainy then back to warm. When it's really cold, I end up shoveling 12 - 18 inches of sunshine off the driveway. It's rough, but I manage.

message 429: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Percival | 11 comments Here in South West England we are bracing ourselves for yet another storm. Lots of damaged sea defences in coastal areas from the last onslaught, with no time to make repairs before the next one arrives. The main London to Plymouth (and beyond to Cornwall) rail line totally destroyed (originally constructed in the 1840s) by the sea at Dawlish. In the Cornish port of Porth Leven, two of the 2 foot thick beams which make up the harbour 'gate' were snapped in half earlier in the week, allowing the sea to rush in and wreck sheltering boats. One particular historic clock-tower has been condemned after damage by huge waves and the worry is the sea will finish it off this weekend. I could go on! Storms aren't unusual in this area, but not one after another, after another, after another... Every coastal town has a destruction story to tell!

I feel for you. A few years back we were hit with 5 hurricanes from june to novermber. You get pretty punch drunk after awhile.

I image one hurricane is pretty terrifying, Michael, never mind 5! We live inland so not so vulnerable (large trees coming down is what we might suffer from!) but it's been miserable for those whose homes have been invaded by the sea. Many have had to move out for fear of buildings collapsing. But they're a stoic lot, the Cornish!

Pretty much the same here in my part of Oregon, about half way between Portland and Salem.

I hear you about your dogs! Our dog, when I put her out last night, just kind of looked around in the snow for a bit. Then, I called to her to "Go potty" and she looked at me as if to say "Where?" While her private parts don't extend down to touch the snow, her squatting puts her closer to it than she is comfortable with.

Southampton, England - rain, rain, more rain and very windy - such joy. It looks as if it will stop raining tomorrow for a few hours - looking forward to that.

message 441: by [deleted user] (new)

The sun is shinning and it is somewhat warm outside here in Colorado which is so nice. I was outside for just a bit and already my spirit feels lifted:)

message 442: by Ron (last edited Feb 08, 2014 03:42PM) (new)

Ron (ronb626) | 3884 comments More snow last night, and this morning, in Oregon. Several inches, now. Varies from place to place. More snow further north of us and south of us. And, west of us, for the matter.

Supposed to turn to rain tomorrow and snow all gone by Monday morning commute. We'll see. I gave up a long time ago counting on what the weather man says will happen. While I believe they are more accurate than they used to be, what with satellite technology and what now. But, they still are not accurate when I seem to need them to be. I understand that it's not a perfect science, though.

Besides, being retired, I could care less about traffic for the commute. I can still get from my bedroom to my "office" no matter what the weather. Snow or rain...
