I didn't like City of Bones. I gave 2 stars for it. I'm just starting City of Ashes. I hope this one would be better than its predecessor.

Can I lurk? Cassandra Clare's are my guilty pleasure. I have read the trilogy 2 yrs ago and reread it 2 mos. ago. I hate that she prolonged the supposedly trilogy. What's with city of fallen angels, city of lost souls and the upcoming city of heavenly fire? Not yet contented? there's the infernal device series. Ugh...she's raking millions for heavens sake! in spite of all that I still read everything she throws. *eye rolling* not to mention I am pretty excited with the Bane Chronicles release on 2014. *sigh* finally to my favourite warlock.

I'm currently reading the City of Ashes. I don't really like City of Bones. It was too full of unnecessary banthers between the character. The scenes seemed long and particularly tedious and dull because of that.

The twist in the end of the book 1 is okay, although I felt it was too forced. Like, there was not even proper foreshadowing! Cassandra Clare just decided to pull it off out of nothing. Err..

I hope I won't be too disappointed with City of Ashes, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

Have you read/heard the series? It was YA. I honestly didn't like the first book, but lots of my bookish friends around my age have read it. They say that City of Bones was actually NOT the best book, and anyway I've bought the whole series in Booksale, so why not give it a shot?

Chibivy, yes, I've heard about this YA book even before. It's good to sometimes read a YA book. The reading "connects" me to my young (once) me.

Do you have the books already, K.D.? City of Ashes is actually sitting in my currently-reading shelf for quite some time, but I haven't touched it for a week because I am still waiting for buddy readers. :)

If you want, you can start with City of Bones (because it's the first book). You could post your thoughts, reactions, and questions here and we'd be happy to answer you! Then we'll wait for you to catch up. Book 1 is actually easy to read and it only took me a day and a half to finish it. :)

By the way, we won't impose strict rules in this TMI buddy reading. Read on your own pace; post your thoughts; discuss it with fellow readers. That's it. We won't follow rigorous schedule for this, so lurkers are certainly welcome to join the conversations any time. Also, those who have completed the entire series, or those who are currently reading other books of The Mortal Instruments are very welcome to butt in as well.

Let's make this a relaxed and carefree buddy-reading experience, okay? :)

I don't know, but I don't really like Jace. Even in the City of Bones. There's probably a lot of Jace fans out there, but he's not really my favorite kind of guy. He could be somewhat obnoxious a lot of times, you see.

I can't make a longer post aside from that observation since I just started reading. Jace fans, enlighten me. What made you like him? Haha! I think I like Simon better. :3

Simon wasn't that bad either. (I don't want to spoil you.) I like Jace because of his bad boy image, I don't know how to explain what I like about him.. I guess I have this attachment with bad boy characters.
