Leea I am so sorry, I had no idea. Thinking of you over here in Illinois. I see your posts for the yoga, it looks so beautiful and peaceful -- I bet the setting adds a lot to it.
I really want to do some Barre Method classes. I took ballet for about 16 years of my life and I miss bar workouts. But the classes are prohibitively expensive I just can't.

Sigh, I miss you ladies. Sorry I have been gone. August is a really hard month for me. I don't know why I volunteer for all of this stuff. I am on the verge of freaking out or tears I am so stressed most of the time. I can't do this again.
So I am heading camping tomorrow morning, we were supposed to go today, but I needed to work. That is fine, camping for 1.5 days will do us good -- I have never camped at the dunes on Lake Michigan in Michigan, but I am looking forward to it. We had a heat wave hear this past week in Chicago, but it has cooled down and should only be in the 80s and actually 50s at night.

My boys are playing soccer & fall baseball at the same time. Madness, I tell you!!
It is crazy! We opted not to do fall ball, just too much - so many conflicts. Do the games happen on different days for you (soccer one day and baseball anotehr?)

We almost did a camping trip this weekend but we were worries all the first come spots would be gone.
I bet they would be. It is hard to get there on time. We are going with 5 other families -- the organizer made these reservations 1/1!
What I mean is -- sorry that read bad, to get the first come spots I find we have to arrive really early -- and when leaving for camping and packing everything I think it is hard to leave in time to get there.
That sounds like a blast... Yeah, we always leave late for trips, it so hard getting everyone out the door.
I know, it will be awesome. I'm so curious what the NEW goodreads is though? What changes they may make.
Oh man.... I want! I'm going to have to try to figure out a way to get that dang thing. 189 for the WiFi & 3G one... hmmmmmm
Courtney wrote: "Just went to a Backstreet Boys concert. It was amazing! All those oldie songs! <3"Wow, does that bring back memories - LOL! Did they seem the same or lots of changes? Wondering especially about Kevin, Howie, and A.J. Wasn't A.J. in rehab for awhile?
Regina, always miss ya, but love when you can check in. Hoping that things slow down a bit... but then you wouldn't be YOU, would you?Leea - interesting about the "new" GR on Kindle. It looks like it's a lot easier to use and much more functional than the current version. Wondering if it's limited to the new Paperwhite? 'Cuz I'm not giving up my HD just for that. But I expected Amazon to try to capitalize on GR as much as possible. Anything that makes it easier to buy and review is a good thing.
They were pretty much the same, though I've never been to a BSB concert before this. And I do believe A.J. was in rehab but that might've been some time ago. Kevin looks a little older and Howie looks exactly the same! I had a great time because it brought back great memories and I knew all the songs (except 1 or 2 of the new ones).
Angie, thanks for asking! My sister continues to improve each day and get stronger. And while her injuries could have been/should have been so much more serious, she's still looking at 1 year+ on recovery. The most troublesome are her facial injuries, because (not to be gross or too descriptive) parts of her facial/head muscles, skin, etc. were just shredded or completely sheared off. So she's facing lots of plastic surgery to replace the missing skin and prevent infection.
Although she does have some infection in her cheekbone area. She's got more antibiotics and will see the plastic surgeon this week.
Really grateful that my sister has never been too vain about her looks. She's a pretty gal, but she's never been into too much makeup or too concerned. That's going to help her a lot in the coming months. I don't know that I could be as calm and sane about my face if it were me instead.
Her pinkie still has the pin in it - it looks like a pop-up timer, LOL! But she has more mobility in her right hand again. The left hand stitches are mostly out, so she's got more use of that hand, too.
Although she's got a lot of what they call "road tattooing", which looks like bad road-rash; the docs say that some of it might always look a bit tattooed and rough. I'd never heard of that. Sort of made me think about Karina Halle's Artists trilogy and all the tattooing... and the scars that Ellie bears.
Your sister is inspiring Lori. One year is just so unfair. And it is so unfair that she has to be reminded in such a visceral way of someone else's negligence.
So sorry, Vanessa! Thanks for everyone's kind thoughts and continued well wishes for my sister. She did see the plastic surgeon late last week, and he successfully trimmed away the remaining "yuck" and necrotic and infectious tissues. She looks like she's wearing a gauze beanie these days! Everything has to be covered, because until they do the skin grafts, some areas no longer have skin right now.
But my sister was SO HAPPY to be present at the birth of her grandson last night! And her hands have healed enough that she's able to hold him - sort of, with some help. But her daughter (my niece) was adamant about wanting her mom with her during the birth. What a miracle that is - my oldest niece had quite the rebellious streak that lasted a good 6 years, throughout her teens. And as usual, mom and daughter didn't see eye-to-eye, nor did they like each other that much. But in the past year, my niece has been out on her own, but she found a really nice, settled guy; they've been living together and got pregnant. He helped my niece settle, too. And she's gotten really close to her mom; she was very helpful during all that's gone on with her mom lately.
Oh Vanessa so sorry to hear the sad news concerning your patient. I admire anyone in the medical profession.
Lori, your sister must be a very strong person to being dealing with the long healing process from her terrible accident. So glad that she and her daughter are working out their differences. Not always, but usually babies help to bring families together.
Sometimes I look through the members of groups I'm in and ask to myself 'Why am I the only guy?' You'd think it wouldn't bother me...I mean being the only guy chatting to a lot of women is kind of cool but it it makes me think of a concert I went to years ago (early 1990s).
NOFX were touring Australia and they had an all-ages gig which is basically a gig where no alcohol is served. It says all ages but it's really for people who are under-18.
It was the only concert I could get to so I went...but I was the only person over 30 in a room filled with people under 20. lol...I felt like "that" creepy old guy.
You could never be that creepy old guy - not in my book, Ian! You're just one of the few brave enough to admit to reading any of these books and even braver to voice your opinions with a bunch of chatty, opinionated gals. That's why we love you! ;-)
Thanks Lori / Regina. Lori McD wrote: "brave enough to admit to reading any of these books "
I kind of wonder why romantic fiction is denigrated so much. I find it really odd that people enjoy reading some of the things described in crime fiction. Some of that stuff is depraved.
I find it troubling too. I only have legitimacy with my friends in terms of my reading b/c I also read classics and literary fiction or well thought of science fiction and fantasy. I always point out that they are elitist and judgmental. :) Romance makes people happy and feel good. I really want to get my husband to read one and see what he thinks.

You should try him on the first three Virgin River books. I was talking to the Robyn Carr about this and she said she said was surprised at how popular the series was with men.
Lori McD wrote: "If a guy could get past the number of pages, I'd think "Outlander" would be good, too."I was looking at getting that as an audiobook...I think it was something like 40 hours per book. I was stunned. I can't remember what I had for breakfast, I don't know how I'd go with a book that long.

Don't leave us. ha!
Lori McD wrote: "If a guy could get past the number of pages, I'd think "Outlander" would be good, too."My husband listened to the audio of Outlander and really enjoyed it. He drives a lot for work and it was so fun to talk with him about Jamie and Claire. Honestly husbands/partners/boyfriends should really pay more attention to what their partner reads and maybe give it a try.
I'm so glad :) You'll love Outlander and you should listen/read it before the miniseries on starz airs next fall.
Ian, honestly, if I hadn't read Outlander on a Kindle reader (on my SmartPhone, no less) and had no idea how HUGE the thing was, I probably wouldn't have read it, either. That said, the book is truly an amazing book! It's tough to find an author who can craft such robust characters and amazing plots with such smarts! She doesn't dumb down anything - LOL!
Hope you do get the chance to read or listen to Outlander soon.
Met hubby in '79 and in all these years he's only read about 4 books. And they were all nonfiction and SHORT! lol! But he does feed my book addiction; he bought me a Kindle when I swore I didn't want one. And on vacation he looks for used book stores to browse through so I really can't complain. But it would be so special to be able to connect with him about The Outlander series.
Outside of online sites, the only person I know who's read the Outlander series is my 84 year old Mom! She even loves the Lord John books. But when we start talking books in front of my 2 sisters they make "gagging" sounds since Mom & I like romance, historical fiction (romance, mystery, etc) and also Jane Austen. IMO, if you're enjoying what you're reading that's all that should matter.
And don't get me started on those who make comments on how reading is a waste of time! lol!
