I'm loving that you're reading all these WR books... I just keep adding them to my TBR list. :)

message 3955: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Everytime I get back on the WR kick, I realize it took me too long to get back on it and ask myself why I waited so long. I've been really enjoying it these past few days :)

message 3956: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Peggy, I really like the Lady Emily series!

Lisa and Regina, I'm usually ahead in the mystery dept, but I didn't pick up on that spoiler until the end of book 2, and I wasn't sure.

Finally read Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle and Bold Tricks (The Artists Trilogy, #3) by Karina Halle . They weren't as bad as I expected… in terms of what happened. I just thought it was no-win and I couldn't stand to read while it all fell apart. Still rough, but not what I thought! And that's a good thing.

The next Experiment in Terror book is due Winter 2013? Anyone know when?

message 3957: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Kay, I'm on chapter three of Harper's Bride by Alexis Harrington and I'm really enjoying it.

I read a lot of it tonight... i'm almost half way done. Basically i'm really loving it. It's such a great story and my heart is breaking for Melissa and her baby Jenny.

message 3962: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Thanks, Lisa. Not sure how I missed that.

There was a lot I loved about that book, but I agree completely.

message 3965: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am starting Parasite (Parasitology, #1) by Mira Grant today

I am really enjoying the narration and audio book The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer

message 3966: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I finished Parasite last night. I thought it was pretty good! But I went into it with low expectations because the reviews weren't great for it. It wasn't as good as Feed, but I enjoyed the read.

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Leea wrote: "I read a lot of it tonight... i'm almost half way done. Basically i'm really loving it. It's such a great story and my heart is breaking for Melissa and her baby Jenny."

I got to about 74% last night. I probably won't read anymore until tonight. I am liking it and I love how the author takes time on the relationship building.

message 3968: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Kay, yeah I love that too. It's got passion without much detail. It's a building mutual relationship that leads Melissa to have more confidence in himself.

I'm about 60% The Mountain Between Us by Cindy Myers Is very good but it's a long build. I'm enjoying it and it has shades of Virgin River, the author is building this small town, that's going through some financial troubles. The town is banding together to solve it. All while the snow snow is coming. It's based in a small town in Colorado. There is also no clear cut lead in this book. There are a few story lines that are at play and that's fun too.

I'm also going to start The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

message 3969: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Sick so doing a Fever series re-read to make myself feel better. Or at least forget how gross I feel.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Sorry to hear you're sick, Tellulah. Feel better.

Finished Parasite (Parasitology, #1) by Mira Grant and actually liked it better than book 1 of Feed. Although, there were a couple of moments which reminded me of The Host. Curious to see if anyone else picks up on that.

Started All I Want Is You by Elizabeth Anthony but don't know if I'll have time to continue it right now because I'm still trying to finish Allegiant and I'm getting ready to start The Book Thief by Markus Zusak tonight.

message 3971: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished Harper's Bride by Alexis Harrington during my lunch hour. I really liked it.

I've been in the american west for several days so it's time for me to switch it up. I'm off to search for my next read...

Were you named after a 1930s film star from Alabama?

message 3975: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Leea & Lori, thanks for the heads up on the Lady Emily series! Got to make time for it in the future!

Lisa, See that you've been reading a lot of Stephanie Plum, I'm starting to miss that series! Only read the first two and then took a break. Love Morelli and Grandma! Wouldn't you know that I didn't record the Boston game where Victorino hit the grand slam! I'm very superstitious and was afraid to jinx the Red Sox (I recorded the game where Jake Peavy pitched and they lost!)

Am about 50% into SON which is Chapter 21. Felt a little slow in parts and then read chapter 20! What a jolt, kinda a bridge to the present. But I wish M & D would go back to France!

Named, no. Inspired by, most definitely.

message 3979: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I recently read The Mountain Between Us by Cindy Myers and I liked it a lot. Turns out it must be part of a series but it's not linked like that so I never knew about what appears to be the first book, The View From Here by Cindy Myers . Dang GR's haha!

message 3980: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Yep, like Peggy said, I'm on a Plum streak. Just finished Smokin' Seventeen (Stephanie Plum, #17) by Janet Evanovich while at the muffler shop this morning and it had a cliffhanger! Could not believe it. I think that's a first for the series, if my memory is correct. Thankfully, I had Explosive Eighteen (Stephanie Plum, #18) by Janet Evanovich loaded and ready on my kindle - whew! I'm wondering if the title is referring to the cars Stephanie goes thru or something BIG will finally happen in her relationships with Morelli and Ranger.

It's a fun series, Peggy, and I usually take breaks and had planned to after finishing #17 but then the cliffhanger happened and I already had #18 on hand, so what the heck. They're fast reads and hilarious. Thanks to Plum, I enjoy PB, pickle and chips sandwiches! But lately she's been eating PB with olives. No more mention of pickles and chips added to her PB. Weird. I might try the olives because I was surprised how good the pickles went with PB. I had already added chips for crunch :D

message 3981: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Love PB but not sure about the pickles and chips or olives!

it was a bit rushed for me and just didn't have that bang moment. overall a great read.

i'm itching to read Qhuinn and Blay's book. i just loved their scenes in the novel. especially when Saxton lets Qhuinn know he is aware Qhuinn loves Blay. i'm debating skipping Tohr's book and coming back to it later. have u read his? will i screw up Tohr's book by skipping?

message 3983: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Holy crap. It's taking me as long to get through the final book in the Fever series as all the others put together. I'd forgotten what a hefty story it is.

message 3984: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I started The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and it's hard going at first. But I think I may be getting into it now. about 14% now.

message 3985: by Anita (new)

Anita Anderson | 9 comments I have finally wrapped myself into Outlander (1st book, of many) and there's no coming back. I am in love :-) with a book ;-)

message 3986: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I have a shelf called Gabaldonitis for books that are so long they're ridiculous. I have the shelf but I've never read Outlander. I'm really going to have to take the plunge one day. Maybe over Christmas.

ᴥ Irena ᴥ (-irena-) | 34 comments I am not really a fan of chick-lit (I prefer romance to friends/family relationship stories). I assume Obitchuary is chick-lit. It is $0.99 today, so I've decided to try. It seems entertaining enough. Who knows, maybe I'll like it.

message 3991: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Lots of Outlander fans here! Yep, also my all time favorite series and author!

message 3992: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I've only read the first Outlander. I liked it but it was so long. I hope to get back and read the series again someday.

I am currently reading a YA Shredded by Karen Avivi . It's okay. I should finish it tonight.

message 3993: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments starting an audio read of Megan's Mark (Breeds, #7) by Lora Leigh . i'm skipping around in this series cause the others aren't available to rent.

message 3994: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Leea, I just saw that The Book Thief The Book Thief by Markus Zusak , the movie, is being released Nov. 15th. Wow - not sure if I want to see that book in action, 'cuz of the time period and all, but it looks good.

Reading Linda Howard's Ice by Linda Howard - it's not as good, IMO, as the other books we've read, but it's also much shorter.

Trying to get through Laird of the Mist (MacGregors, #1) by Paula Quinn by Paula Quinn, but it's just such a S - L - O - W book. I've read other Highlander romances by Quinn, and they were good.

Peggy & Lisa, I finished Behind the Shattered Glass (Lady Emily, #8) by Tasha Alexander by Tasha Alexander, the latest Lady Emily. It was good, but different; this time, Ms. Alexander adds in a 3rd person POV interspersed with Lady Emily's 1st person POV. I guessed the whodunnit right away, but it's still a good read. I'm so glad they're back in England! And there's more of Colin in this book then there has been in previous books.

I think I'm missing something with Linda Howard. I've enjoyed the books I've read but something that always stands out to me is her villains are so evil they're cartoonish. I don't think she can write bad guys...it's like she has this picture above her desk and she tries to make all her bad guys just like them.

message 3996: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) LOL, Ian... That definitely holds true in Ice

BTW, love your Outlander shelf - you really need to start tackling it soon! ;-)

message 4000: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Oh wow! Received a library notice that I can check out The Book Thief by Markus Zusak for Kindle so will be reading that along with Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness Couldn't pass up "The Book Thief" as had been on a long waiting list! Will take turns reading chapters from each one. Plus I still haven't finished Drums of Autumn (Outlander, #4) by Diana Gabaldon although since it's a 4th re-read it can sit for a while.

Leea, looking forward to your thoughts on TBT although if any spoilers I won't read those! lol! Looks good but probably very intense. Lisa gave it a great review!

Lori, sure have to bump up Lady Emily #1! Not sure if I'd want to see the movie version of TBT. Maybe wait for it to be on DVD as I cry easy at movies like that.
