I hope you get the chance to. It was such a sweet read...would make a good palette cleanser after a heavier book.

Started Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt which seems to be the exact opposite mood of the book I just finished.

message 1905: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic About 2/3 through Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody #1) by Elizabeth Peters Not steamy at all but is a fun light read! I think that Gail Carriger of the Soulless series and the writers of The Mummy movies with Brendan Frazer must have read this! :D

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Sounds like fun Peggy. :)

I feel like a slug for not recording it but I was supposed to be buddy reading Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep later in the month with someone and I think it might have been someone from this group. If I was supposed to be reading with you, please poke me. It's the one last BR I'm trying to square away.

message 1907: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I finished Into the Light by Ellen O'Connell and it didn't wow me, but I liked it. I felt like we waited so long for something to happen that by the time it did, I was so over it already. lol

Now on to another buddy read, Come Back to Me (Viking & Saxon, #3) by Josie Litton with a few friends here in True Love, Can't wait! I'll start this in the morning.

message 1908: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Finished Hooch's & Dan's story... not impressed. Didn't seem like the Hooch & Dan I know.

message 1909: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Kay that sounds so fun! Do you have pictures? I was just meh about Spider's Bite. Maybe it was my mood, maybe it was because I read it in paperback and I prefer ebook -- this was over 3 years ago so who knows what I would think now. I know many people love the series.

Lori!!!! I feel your pain! :D What did you think of Izzy's book? I just love that man so much.

Leea I actually loved Into the Light by Ellen O'Connell . I agree it took a long time for the story to develop and there was 50% of the book in set up. But I think she did such a good job with the characters, the town and the setting that I loved it. One of the reasons I love her books so much is because I feel like I am living in them. I am now longing for another book by her - also, Beautiful Bad Man by Ellen O'Connell was one of my favorites by her, so I loved revisiting Caleb and Norah.

message 1910: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am over 50% in to The 5th Wave (The Fifth Wave, #1) by Rick Yancey and I am starting The Story Guy (Novella) by Mary Ann Rivers Rivers by Michael Farris Smith -- but haven't yet.

Leea, I can do Lie Still if you like as well. Lie Still by Julia Heaberlin

Thanks for posting that because I couldn't remember who I was buddy reading that with! So if that makes us "slugs"...LOL! But I'm worse because I couldn't quite remember which book either. Right now I'm buddy-reading a book with Peggy Z - the Crocodile book and started another buddy read - a Viking romance Come Back to Me (Viking & Saxon, #3) by Josie Litton . Hey, are you reading that one too? If so, could we hold off on Spider's Bite a couple weeks?

The book starts out with familiar scenes... and Matt getting his gym is familiar. But it just seems as if there's a mix of what I believe them to be and then completely unexpected behavior. It's sort of entertaining, but not as hot as I'd expect. And IMO, just not quite right. There's a new co-author, and I suspect that she did the majority of the writing.

Anyway, if you're thinking of getting the book, try not to pay for it or borrow it. I'd like a second opinion, 'cuz maybe I'm just... who knows?

Where is Hooch and Matt's story?

D.G. LOL, Kay! You look better than them all!

Lori (lorimcd) Wendy F wrote: "Where is Hooch and Matt's story?"

Wendy, you can get it from the Marquesate web site, but it takes you to Lulu.com. Or it's available in Kindle version from Amazon.com.

I'm trying to loan it to Marcella, who has a Nook... so if anyone's done it that way (straight from Loan on Manage Your Kindle), let us know.

And Wendy, if you have a Kindle, after we figure out how to get it to Marcella, you can borrow it. I'm not impressed, though. I'd advise trying to get a free/borrowed copy before shelling out the $6+ for it.

PLUS, you probably want to finish Special Forces, first.

You have never heard of New Kids on The Block? They were popular in the 90s. The had songs "The Right Stuff", etc.

message 1930: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Leea, yes...i get to meet them again but not by myself. I couldn't afford to do that again. LOL

Ian, New Kids on the Block came before Backstreet Boys and Nsync. They were huge in the 80s-90s and started that whole boy band merchandising.

Reminded me of the Natalee Holloway case and the movie Brokedown Palace.

Sold. I just added that to my wish list.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments It was so silly and fluffy at the start that I was rolling my eyes and wondering what I'd gotten in to.

Then by the time I got to the end, I was half sick and my mind was reeling.

It was definitely something I'm curious to see how others will react. Especially with the way it ended.
