1. (national level) Jimmy Carter: Not for his less than stellar term as President but for the wonderful work he and his wife have done in the name of humanity and women.
2. (state level) Sandra Day O'Connor: Again, not necessarily for her politics, but because she was the first woman in a few categories, e.g. first woman majority leader and first woman appointed to the Supreme Court.
3. (local level) District Attorney Nico LaHood - DA in San Antonio. I have the pleasure of serving on the board of the local Rape Crisis Center with Mr. LaHood. He has a powerful message and is committed to helping better the area and empowering our youth.
What three historical events would you have liked to witness first hand?
Thanks Teri I hope this gets going again - it has always been a fun thread.
I like your reasoned responses. I will let someone else tackle your question which is a great and interesting topic.

I don't really like to lie - and I am not good at it "at all". But I want to revive this thread and I think people all have had a hard time answering this so here is my response to my own question.
a) When my father was not doing well and I kept saying that in no time I was hopeful that things would improve. Why because I wanted to hold on to the hope that they would. Of course they didn't.
b) The same situation with my mother when my father wanted to believe in hope and none of us wanted to remove that element from my father's life - hope is important.
c) When one of my friends asked how they looked in that all important formal attire - I said they looked great even though they didn't. Why hurt anyone's feelings.
What are the three things that you remember most about growing up and why do you think that these were impactful?
This is a great thread so I hope we can revive it and get it going again.
