Interesting Jill and it is quite beautiful there. Guilin, Yangshou where the students were from - although I am willing to bet that some of them were from Guilin. That is the place where all of the amazing young gymnasts are from - they are taken away to train from their families at a very young age - sad but they are unbelievable - I went to a show in Guilin and I never saw anything like it.

Are you going to take a stab at the question?

message 152: by Jill (new)

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) 1, A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Lewis Stevenson because my Mother used to read to me from it. My favorite poem was "The Land of Counterpane".
2. Poems of Childhood by Eugene Field for the same reason and another of my favorite poems "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod"
3.Water Babies by Charles Kingsley. As a child I was fascinated by these little elf-like creatures who lived in the water....the illustrations were wonderful.

What are your three favorite cereals?

I think you got carried away and forgot the citations (smile)

You remember a lot. These poems must have a profound impact on you.

Well since I am gluten free - I will let somebody else take a stab at this. My gluten free cereals cannot be that popular.

Jill asked:

What are your three favorite cereals?

hmmm.

Let me think:

1. Filet Mignon
2. Veal
3. Lamb

Cereal with ice cream interesting. I have seen granola with yogurt.

Tell us three little white lies that you told and why.

message 157: by Jill (last edited May 25, 2013 09:27PM) (new)

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) Sorry about those book citations.......that's not usually a mistake I make. I still know those poems by heart.

White lies? That is tough.

1. My best friend and I used to say we were sisters even though we looked nothing alike. It made us laugh because we thought we were fooling people (it didn't work)
2. We also used to make up different names for ourselves. I was Sylvia Rothman. Who knows why?
3. Got caught driving without a license when I was 15 and gave the policeman a false name. I was really in trouble with my Father over that one.

Tell us your three most embarrassing moments

You are going to have to change your question - we always have three in it.

If it was so embarrassing I probably would not want to share it with 5600 people (smile)

a) Dog Accidents - I swear they are very very infrequent but they are always at the wrong time and the wrong place
b) When I was distracted by a meeting that I just pulled out of and turned down a one way street -pretty much cutting off the police car - very embarrassing but he was very understanding.
c) Bringing your best suit to the meeting which you threw into your suitcase and realizing right before you were going to put it on that half of it was missing from the cleaners.

You get up and your son tells you that he needs to bring a show and tell object to school and he has no idea what to bring and his bus comes in 10 minutes. Tell me three things that you might suggest.

message 162: by Katy (new)

Katy (kathy_h) Ha, ha, ha, that has happened many times in the past. The problem was trying to find something not dangerous. Because he is headed out to the bus, it would have to be something close by the door.

1) I would without thinking offer him a the Masai or Hawaiian spear and then remember one cannot take weapons to school.

2) Matryoshka Dolls, but he would turn those down as he is a boy.

3) Vintage Great lakes fishing lures -- this would probably be a winner.

So what three things do you like to do outside in the summer?

message 163: by Bentley, Group Founder, Leader, Chief (last edited Jun 12, 2013 08:41PM) (new)

Bentley | 44291 comments Mod
Christopher, I am not sure what you mean?

But let me think if I answered literally:

Summer after high school graduation
Summer after getting married
Summer after our eldest child was born.

I don't really categorize summers that way so I can see why this might have stopped the game in its tracks.

OK...let me see

You just won the lottery (and it was a pretty big amount) - tell me three things you would do with the money and why.

message 164: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 11 comments -Pay of my student loans (cause yeah... They are big and nasty and destroy happiness)
-Buy a house (the market can only go up, and I would rather pay a mortgage than rent.)
-Put away the rest for my son's college. (I don't want him to have to spend his lottery money on student loans)

What are the three worst books you have actually read from start to finish?

message 165: by Bentley, Group Founder, Leader, Chief (new)

Bentley | 44291 comments Mod
Goodness I cannot remember - they were probably not so bad if I finished them - but sometimes it is personal - the reader really does not care for what the person is saying about something or someone you like or have a favorable opinion about. .

There was one on Churchill:

Churchill, the End of Glory A Political Biography by John Charmley by John Charmley John Charmley

The Real America Messages from the Heart and Heartland by Glenn Beck by Glenn Beck Glenn Beck

Going Rogue An American Life by Sarah Palin by Sarah Palin Sarah Palin

1. Grill steaks
2. Put flags on graves at family cemetery

You are off on a long trip and you want to load up your favorite tv programs for the trip, you can watch them in the car, in the plane, at your beach house, in the hotel along the way, etc. What TV programs would you take. Name three and why.

message 171: by Marren (last edited Jun 16, 2013 02:39PM) (new)

Marren | 53 comments 1. Game of Thrones: best thing on tv since ages, it is a mixture of schemes to get to a throne. I like how the plots get me hyped

2. Heartland: I just like watching how a girl can calm a house and at the same time what how she interacts with her family and friends.

3. A show on ESPN, maybe Mike&Mike. They would keep me in the know about the sports world. The way they deliver their opinions/facts and their teasing makes a sports show tolerable for me. They are the best I have seen on ESPN.

What are three things you like the best about the weekend?

Seven dogs, Bentley from a Pom to a mastiff/boxer mix. They are great friends and pals.......the children!!!!

message 173: by Jill (new)

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) 1. Crocheting......too boring and the results usually are stupid looking.
2. Bonsai.......I just couldn't seem to get the hang of it enough to keep the plants alive. My brother was a wizard with the art of bonsai and couldn't figure out why I couldn't do it.
3. Golf.......way too frustrating for me.

Goodness, my philosophy is never go back because you are always going to be disappointed. Remember how big and spacious or impressive stuff was when you were a child and then you went back to those locations and said to yourself - well maybe it was because I was so little!.

OK - here I go: (and by the way I would not like to be stuck in any of these)

I would like to go back and talk to my great great grandparents and be able to meet their parents and understand what they went through in life and what life was like back then.

Next - I would like to have lived in Italy during the Renaissance.

The Byzantine Empire might have been interesting.

Gibbon says that the best time was "the second century AD, when Rome’s “five good emperors”, Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius, brought a peace and stability that western Europe would—in Gibbon’s view—never see again." But then again look at the time period Gibbon was living in!

Three People I admire?

1. Winston Churchill, became a leader of Britain despite his lisp.

2. FDR: Became the leader of a nation mired in the Great Depression and offered new leadership all from a wheel chair.

3. Harry Truman: One of the only presidents that actually served in a war, was a poor dirt farmer from Missouri, and understood what the average person needed from its government.

Folks, let me explain the above - you have to answer the question before you and at the bottom of the post you have to ask a question which asks folks to reveal three things about a single subject - always look at post one on any thread for instructions.

So Mike you answered the question with a three in it and now you must come up with a question for the next person.

I do not see your question yet.

Since it isn't labour day any more I will still answer with what I did. And I celebrated Canada Day long weekend so the weekend before you guy actually. But I did watch the Macy Fireworks thing(Taylor.S and Selena.G) were performing and I just had to watch. Lets see the fireworks always scare me because I will wonder what the sound is, since I am deaf(well actually HOH), I actually can't remember now. My iphone usually tells me what appointments or special event I had but I honestly can't remember now. ah yes Switched At Birth was surely on and I probably was dying to watch it. This was a big epsiode and I was yelling at the tv on Monday night(this was before the Big What-If epsiode)gah how could I have forgotten that. Then I probably watched The Fosters.
