Things I can remember
- Scene: The main man and another person (woman?) went into a cavern full of diamonds
- I'm not sure but I think they used diamonds as currency
- Scene (Near the end of the book): (view spoiler)[When the volcano was about to erupt he managed to convince the people to join him on his hot air balloon to escape, much to the peoples grumbling. When they were on the air they looked back to the volcano/island they were living on (which hadn't yet erupted) and they got angry and said things about leaving their home when nothing bad is happening when suddenly the volcano erupts and diamonds are blown everywhere (hide spoiler)]
- I think the main character took some diamonds with him
- The cover is pale blue with a slight silver sheen to it and I think it has a medium sized hot air balloon drawn into the middle in shiny blue
- Was not set in modern times. I thinks it was set around the same time Around the World in 80 Days was set in
- I read it in either 2004 or 2007 but I'm not sure if that will help.. It seemed new at the time though, I'm not sure.
- The main character finds a female love interest in the volcano/island I think
