Kirsten (kmcripn) I finished two cozy mysteries - Death by Darjeeling (A Tea Shop Mystery, #1) by Laura Childs & Evil Breeding (A Dog Lover's Mystery, #12) by Susan Conant - and one "find the serial killer" mystery - The Mephisto Club (Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles, #6) by Tess Gerritsen - yesterday.

Will be trying to finish The Drawing of the Three (The Dark Tower, #2) by Stephen King today.

How are you finding the King series, Kirsten? I haven't read that one yet.

I'm actually really enjoying it. When it first came out, I was "off" King. But last year I read Joyland for a book club and really enjoyed it. Then another book club starting reading this series, they finished all the books... but I'm really enjoying it.

It can be kind of dark. (It is King, after all.) But it's not horror... more of a dreamquest.

Kirsten (kmcripn) By the by, Congrats, Sandra! You are one of the few that spell my name correctly!

message 761: by Susan (new)

Susan (cruelshoes) | 573 comments i just finished quintesstially q by pepper winters after first reading tears of tess. so dark and now i am very dark. after many cigerattes i am drained by these books. the love of tess and q with the ordeals they suffer. i embrace the dark books. the torture is so real from tess's words i felt her pain and to have her mind torn from her i wanted to sceam that q could not have saved her fast enough. i have to read something less dark so will go to mild bondage.

Susan, Tears of Tess is on my reading horizon!! I fall so deep into the dark, emotional reads. I've been trying to hold off on this one while I finish some others first because I know when I start it, I will be lost in it. I was that way with Captured in the Dark and that series and also - the Consequences series. Could not stop until I finished every single book. I'm good with the dark reads as long as they eventually give me a hea of some kind.

You are a reading machine, Jonetta! I don't know how you do it plus write reviews on all of them. I'm lucky if I get reviews written on every 3rd or 4th book or so that I read.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
Do you read a few and then write all the reviews at once or do you read/write, read/write, ...??

message 769: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15063 comments Mod
It depends. Some I write as soon as I've finished. Most of the time it's driven by the blog deadlines. Jennifer and I keep a calendar so that keeps me honest. I've got some still to write, however, from last month that weren't on the blog calendar. That bugs me so I try now to write them within a week. I've taken to jotting down some points I want to remember while reading, which makes it easier.

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments I wish I could read as much! I'll be lucky to finish a book within a week. I'm still on Concealed in Death (In Death, #38) by J.D. Robb . I'm not as pulled in to the story as much as I wanted. Or maybe it's because I have other things going around me too that are distracting.

Nina (msralways) | 53 comments Just finished reading Tart (Delicious, #2) by Lauren Dane and Lush (Delicious, #3) by Lauren Dane . Two incredibly sexy reads for those in the mood for it. I'm thinking I need to get back in the J.D Robb saddle. I've put a stop in the series after the shock of reading Innocent in Death (In Death, #24) by J.D. Robb . It was awesome!

I try to write them as soon as I finish the book but it's just not possible sometimes...RL has an annoying way of interfering!

Kirsten (kmcripn) I finished reading a Susan Sizemore Primes story on my Kindle Fire last night: Stealing Magic. Very interesting take on the Primes series, as it takes place in historical England, instead of contemporary LA.

Today I plan on reading my interlibrary loan, the next book (for me) in the Dalziel & Pascoe mystery series Dialogues Of The Dead

Amie (alm0824) | 125 comments I finished up two books yesterday. One was The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts. I really enjoyed this one; I feel like I'm part of the town and can't wait to see how things wrap up in the next one. I also finished my second Kristen Ashley book, Mystery Man. I loved this one; I'm think I'm definitely hooked now. Next up to the read is Fire Me Up by Katie MacAlister.

It's just that good! I'm not always a fan of fantasy but this one makes me a believer. For one thing, the author doesn't take up 1/3 of the book building a fantasy world. You get the drift of the world as you read, through the characters eyes. And what a cast of characters! The synopsis doesn't begin to describe the depth and feeling of this book. There is an ominous feel all the way, danger to the MC but you're not immediately sure of the source, an unbelievable supporting cast of characters both good & bad, humorous banter which I love, and lots of action. It was a wee bit slow in the beginning (for me) but I was soon swept into this world and then couldn't turn the pages fast enough! If there is such a thing as Fantasy Suspense...then this is it. And you know how I love my suspense! I'm trying to write my review today. It's really hard to put into words.

Thanks, Sandra. You put it into really good words. I think I'll give the audiobook a shot (I like this format for this genre).
