I’m an author (both traditional publisher-backed and self), but I’m a reader too and I have my opinions. I try to be as gentle as I can, but constructive too. How else do we learn and hone our craft? So I hope what I have to say helps rather than upsets, but I warn you, I can be blunt.

I picked up this title due to the high reviews, but I wonder now if they all weren’t from loved ones and friends, as they are all sparkling 5-stars to a book that has some serious structural flaws. There’s so much

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. the storyline flowed and I really loved the characters. Michael and Lacy's relationship felt very real and I loved their chemistry. there were a few other characters as well who I warmed to particularly Evo, Michael's friend, who had me laughing quite a bit. Great character. I loved the story and can't wait for book 2.

Absolutely loved this book. Definitely worth checking it out. I enjoyed the fresh story line and fell in love with the character's. I can't wait for the next book. I applaud Ms Sealey on her first book and will be looking forward to the next one.

Wow, this book was great! It took some time for me to get used to the writing and phrasing as they are obvious that its from an English writer, and the main female character is from European area so it works, but when its from Michael's, Point of view, it seems odd as he is American, but it was fine, I am used to reading books by authors who have the unique phrasings, and I ra

Awaken by L.J Sealey
3 Stars

This is the first book in the Divine Hunter series. Michael Warden had a wonderful life. He was the CEO of a company that he built, had many friends and an amazing social life. He had it all until he died. Now he hunts demons. In the past ten months he has managed to make it out of hell and kill his fair share of demons. There are a lot of gaps in his memory which frustrates him. He doesn't really remember his time in hell, which is probably a good thing. He doesn't

Awaken is a Paranormal Romance which is L.J. Sealey's debut novel in this series. It gets you gripped right from the very first page.

Michael - was a successful entrepreneur until he died. Now he is trapped in the human world in someone else's body fighting off the evil that exists in this world - demons - all the while trying to find out exactly what happened to him. Michael follows stories of mass suicides at the University in Oakland. He believes that the only thing that can be behind them is

This début novel does not disappoint!!! I was hooked and had to read it in one sitting!

Michael is a paranormal being, he just doesn't know what! He was a human but when he died he went to hell for unknown reasons. After being tortured he managed to somehow escape and he now spends his time despatching demons back to hell. He has a web of contacts who can give him access to information, giving him an edge on the other hunters.

When he hears of a strong of unconnected suicides at a University he kn

I won a signed copy of Awaken from L.J. but I have a rule that I NEVER read my signed editions. As my way of saying thanks to the author, as well as to keep my book in pristine condition, I always buy the Kindle copies. I admit when I entered the giveaway I did it solely based on the book cover. It's just so damn awesome - Michael's white eyes that seem to be glowing, the wings and lets face it - the cover model is smoking! The smoking doesn't end with the cover either as it continues inside thi ...more

I'm conflicted by this book. I enjoyed the story, I want to read the second one and the final twist was excellent. All these things considered though, I'm struggling to give it more than 3.5 stars as I feel that it could benefit from a stricter editor to pull the story together more. There were lots of unnecessary 'fillers' towards the start of the book - did we really need to read Michael's entire conversation with his dry cleaner? - and sometimes the writing actually jarred me out of the story ...more

Recommends it for: All avid readers of paranormal romance
I have loved watching series such as supernatural on tv and I have read lots books with a fantasy theme my whole life, but never have I come across such a fantastically written book like this that leaves me almost begging for the next in the series to be written. I am loving what Michael is and enjoyed the story immensely. LJ Sealey, if and when you see this, hurry up and finish book two lol!!!!!!

I recommend this author and anyone who has not read 'Awaken' is missing a lot!!!!!!!! 100%!!!

WOW!!!!
Let me start by saying I loved this book.
Michael died, he doesn't remember how he died, but for some reason has come back from Hell and is now fighting demons and other creatures. He goes a college to find out who/what is killing the students by pretending to be a psychology professor. He did't plan on going back to hell and no way did he plan to fall in love with Lacy. But he did.
This is a MUST read book, wonderfully written, full of excitement and love. Can't wait for book 2.

This story was very entertaining, I don't usually like the whole angels and demons type of books but this one wasn't the norm. I applaud L.J. Sealey for her new and exciting ideas that made this read very enjoyable. I look forward to reading book two so I can get some more answers and see what will happen with Micheal and Lacy.

What a throughly enjoyable story!
Now yes I know I’m not the biggest fan of paranormal but I do really like the age old good verses evil type of story and this is one of those but with a completely brilliant twist. The folklore hadn’t been messed with, which I appreciate. The characters, both human and not so were believable, the story was so beautifully paced that I didn’t feel as if I was reading, more watching the story came to life before my eyes and I have to say that I was throughly sucked

Okay story but slow delivery

The actual plot is okay but there are too many unnecessary descriptions of things that are trivial and it slows the plot down and eliminates tension. The characters don’t have dimension, Michael less so than Lacy although it does improve towards the end. I think again the descriptions of get in the way but there is definite potential as the series progresses.

now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.

The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.

i would highly recommend this author and this book.

This is a great good against evil story with the twists of both paranormal and human characters like from stories of old. You are happily drawn in to a great journey, full of emotions that will have you laughing out loud to needing tissues. Really makes you want to read more and I will definitely be reading more of this series.

The first book in the Devine Hunter Serries and honestly took me a few chapters to get into it but once my brain had caught up with who was who wow I'm hooked, Michael& Lacy and their budding relationship. Angel's, demons and hybrids.
I'm lucky to have book 2 ready to read.

Cliffhanger

Good read but hate abrupt endings. Character well thought through with Angels, Demons, Gods and Godesses and the odd human or two.

Michael is different. He doesn't know what he is but he's fighting demons in an effort to find out.

Awaken by L.J. Sealey is a paranormal romance story. This story is about two people who have pasts that haunt them. This story is mystery, suspense and romance. This story will show you what happens when your past starts colliding with the present. The author has created characters that will pull you into a world between Earth and Hell. They will take you on a roller coaster ride of twists, turns and sitting on the edge of your seat action.

Michael Warden is a man who had everything he wanted in

I give Awaken (Divine Hunter series, book 1) by L.J. Sealey 4 stars.

Michael had it all. CEO of his own successful company, he was doing quite well. His biggest worry was the business conference coming up that he had to travel to. He had plenty of friends and acquaintances. His life was a little hollow maybe, but normal. He liked it like that. But all that was in the past.

He literally died and went to Hell. He is now back on Earth in a different body, with no recollection of how he died, how he e

Awaken (Divine Hunter Series Book 1)
by L.J. Sealey
**4 Stars**

Awaken keeps you guessing throughout the entire book. Sealey spends quite a bit of time introducing and developing characters, letting you get to know each one. The beginning of the book is slow but I promise you it's worth finishing!

Michael Warden has taken a temporary job as a college professor to investigate a string of suicides. Michael believes the suicides are something more than meets the eye! He has literally died and gone to

L.J. Sealey was born and raised in a little Welsh town by the sea. It rains a lot, so she often has a great excuse to sit at her writing desk and while away the hours at her laptop.

She still lives in N.Wales and when she's not travelling around the country working with her husband - who is a professional singer - or singing backup vocals herself in her husband's band, she likes to read and watch h
