Nikki | 79 comments I am reading The Inferno by Dan Brown. The start is interesting. Has anyone read this book?

I haven't read it, Nikki. Let us know what you think.
I'm currently reading one of our books of the month Consequences (Consequences, #1) by Aleatha Romig and have mixed feelings at this point.

message 553: by Susan (new)

Susan I am currently re reading Dirty Deeds (Dirty Deeds, #1) by S.E. Jakes because I raced through it the first time and missed important plot points. And there were so many of them in this novella that a re read is totally necessary.

message 554: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 79 comments Sure Sandra will let you know how it goes. I can't see the book covers on the Goodreads app on my phone. Any workaround to that?

Not that I'm aware of...I can't see them on my phone either. Anyone else know?

Okay...what choice do I have now but to read Truth (Consequences, #2) by Aleatha Romig ??? I have other books I should be reading but the last 50 or so pages of Consequences doomed me to this!

I have other reading commitments but now I need to know what happens...and everyone is telling me even more happens in Truth plus a lot of things begin to make sense and come together. Here I go...

I'm going to have to double up...I've got some Br's and MR's I've got to get to also. But I've got to wade into Truth. Series suck me in like this all the time. But I will say, this one is a different animal altogether. I expected a dark read similar to the Dark Duet but they are nothing alike at all. I had a lot more emotional attachment to the DD. But I'm intrigued to know what else happens in this one.

Truth (Consequences, #2) by Aleatha Romig has me reading as fast as I can...I've got to finish this one to see what happens! And I know there will be nothing else to do but read Convicted (Consequences, #3) by Aleatha Romig after that. So many deeper plots going on than I first thought.

Book 4, In His Eyes, comes out Jan. 14. And it's supposed to be more than just a retelling of Consequences from Tony's POV. I'll probably read it later. I didn't want to be sucked into this series right now & didn't think I was going to be at first. I have to agree with everyone else - Truth is much better than Consequences and has surprised me already.

Stop!! I have to finish the one I'm reading!!! I'm melting.....I'm already weak:)

message 568: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments So, I am up to book 7 of the Outlander series. I cannot say I am enjoying this book as much as the first 6. But, I read the description of book 8 already, and that sucked me into finishing this one.

message 569: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
Okay, J. I'm zipping it up. Really - you can skip it...you're not missing a thing - honestly! LOL Actually, I think you'll really like Truth. I can't say about Convicted yet or the ending.

Wow Dawn! I'm impressed! It's a series I want to try in the future. You're moving on through it! How many books are there in that series?

message 570: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments 7 until June, thank God! I am getting a little burned out. The problem is...she really sucks you in on the main characters. I just HAVE to know what happens to Jamie and Claire! I love the secondary characters as well, just not as many as the In Death secondaries. So, with this last book, the extensive coverage of others and constant bouncing back and forth between times is exhausting me. The first 6 really did captivate me though.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15062 comments Mod
That's another one I'm having to delay for now. Book #3 is next for me.

Sandra, I KNOW you're kidding:)

message 572: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 3250 comments Well heck Jonetta, if I were trying to do as much as you are...I probably couldn't spend a month reading/listening to 7 books of a series either. I literally have not watched TV or read anything else for a month.

message 573: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15062 comments Mod
Dawn, I don't get a lot of TV in and read a lot! It's just that the 500+ page books take too long for me to finish and meet my commitments for group reads, NetGalley obligations, etc. *sigh*

I finished Hell or High Water by Jerrie Alexander and really liked it! Didn't realize it was the start of a series, though, but am glad about it.

I'm now starting To the Limit by Cindy Gerard before I deviate from my plan and read Truth.

Now I'm reading Magic Mirror (Georgia Lee Maxwell, #1) by Michaela Thompson by Michaela Thompson. Just started it but it is pretty good. What I would consider a 'light' mystery. It's the first in the Georgia Lee Maxwell series. We'll see how it goes!

How did you like The DaVinci Code?

message 580: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (samswindle) | 23 comments Oh shoot!! Didn't mean "DaVinci Code"-I meant his new one "Inferno"!! But I've read "DaVinci Code" several times. LOVE that book as well as "Angels and Demons". The movies totally didn't do those books justice Of course I'm a history buff and loved all the historical info in them as well as the action.
"Inferno" was good too, but probably not quite as good as the others. But it definitely had some twists and turns I wasn't expecting!!!!

Looks like you're hooked into that series Sandra. Is the content dark? Like mess with your head kind of thing?

I'm on Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward now. It's been one punch after another with this series, no time to catch my breath, I just have to read on!

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
Quynh, this is touted as a "dark" read but it hits me more as a psychological thriller...full of suspense and surprises and trying to figure out what the heck is going on. The first book is "dark", I guess (not by my standards). This author indicates some bad things being done but doesn't go into a lot of description beyond a slap across the face and letting you know worse happens but not in descriptive detail (I could have actually used a bit more detail at this point). She skirts the issue - the sex is not even very descriptive. And once you leave book 1, the rest are suspense/thriller/bit of a mystery with trying to figure out who the mastermind of it all is. Very compelling and intriguing.

Quynh (quynh_o) | 1269 comments Thanks Sandra. I'll add it to my TBR. :)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11216 comments Mod
If you start it, just remember that, imo, Consequences is the weakest of the 3 books although it's necessary, I guess, to set up everything that happens thereafter. It's heavy in scenery descriptions that bogged it down for me. But then the last part happens which led me to start book 2, Truth, and wow...blown away then!

Everyone might not agree with me about it being more of a suspense thriller, I don't know. But, for me, it turned into that with book 2. It challenged me to figure this whole thing out and when I think I have, it takes a different turn!

Also, as I said, this isn't a real dark read to me, but then I've read some very dark ones so compared to those, this one is not.
