Ryan Trundle (RyanTrundle) | 3 comments Ryan Trundle Hi I am Ryan and I have been on here for a while. I like to read anything that I can get hold of basically, but I am not into mushy romance. I write more than I read but it is one of those things. I think I have been inspired by Steven King when I was a young up to present day - sort of. But other than this I like to live. That's the end of my AA introduction. I'm now feeling very used, but accomplished. Thanks for the masses of replies in advance.Ryan Trundle

Dave Edlund (dedlund) Greetings all! My name is Dave. I live in Bend, a beautiful medium-sized city in Central Oregon, and I love a good thriller. Oh, I also spend a lot of time with my four-legged friends (dogs), and enjoy fostering dogs to help them become more adoptable while surviving the stress of a shelter. My day job is science and engineering (new energy technology), and I sequester as much time as I can to write.

Antoinette Turner (smaft2) | 20 comments Hi Everyone, it's nice to meet you all. I'm from Brisbane, Australia (not as lucky as Anthony from Minnesota). I only wear hats when I'm working outside, so I won't try to steal John Dolan's hat. I don't watch too much T.V. either, Helen. I read mostly romance genre, which I also write. My friends call me Toni. I hate Winter, but my husband and two children love it - it's a very annoying anomaly. In the spirit of Easter, I will be eating chocolate bunnies very soon.

Frankie Kay (frankiekay) | 1 comments Hi everyone, I live in Bulawayo Zimbabwe (Africa) which is a lovely warm place. Its easier for me to say which genre I don't read: Horror, and sci fi - otherwise its pretty much anything. I read pretty fast, (used to read about one book every day - until I began to write myself!) Now I don't really have much time. I don't watch TV - prefer the great outdoors. I love animals, gardening and photography. I help people who have learning difficulties: Aspergers Dyslexia etc

message 1005: by Amy (new)

Amy (eloquenteducator) | 1 comments Hello! I'm Amy. I live in Minnesota. I'm a substitute teacher right now and have been for the past 4 years.
My (reading) tastes vary, but right now I'm reading fantasy pretty exclusively. My favorite authors are Patrick Rothfuss, Scott Lynch, and Peter S. Beagle.
I guess that's the most important info for now, but if you want to chat, I'm open to messages! :)

message 1006: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawntice) | 18 comments Hi, my name is Dawn. I love to read, it helps me escape my harsh reality of being sick and disabled. I love fun stuff and you won't catch me reading much nonfiction, but I will every once in a while because like many others I love stuff about Princess Diana and the other members of the royal family. I love stories along the lines of The Sisterhood series by Fern Michaels, Love Undercover by Lori Foster (who am I kidding, anything Lori Foster), Maya Banks, Kat Martin, J.D. Robb, I enjoy paranormal like Shannon McKenna, Lynsay Sands, Charmaine Harris, Christine Feehan (the Game series), Sherrylin Kenyon, and more. Janet Evanovich makes me laugh until I cry with Lula and Stephanie's escapades. I love the motorcycle club books. So, you get the picture.

I try to review all that I read and I am working on catching that up from the past, but that is taking a bit longer than I thought it would... still working on it. If you're an author and I have read your book and you don't see a review feel free to shoot me an email and I will get too it. I do some beta reading, right now I do it at not charge because I love to read and it helps us both out. I read and review for Net Galley for those publishers kind enough to grant me access. (Thanks to Shannon McKenna for getting me started going with that.). I try to keep Pintrest up to date on a few boards I'm running there.

All of the stuff above depends on my health of course and what my children are needing at the time. We have football, band and one in college so it's a crazy life I lead. That's about all I can think of right now. Thanks for having me here, on Goodreads!

Jed | 15 comments Hello my name is Jed and
And the authors I like are Irvine Welsh,David Benioff, Jim Carrol, John Bennet,etc..etc..

Now... I'm looking for suggestions on what to read.Something visceral.
When I say visceral, I mean the type of book, you open up-and right away your in the grit of things.
Example of literature I DO NOT like: Stephen King (boring),
Ken Follett.

I'm extremely open to suggestion, since I read a lot.

Claire Fullerton (clairefullerton) | 10 comments Hello everyone! So nice to be here. I am from Memphis, Tennessee, and now divide my time between Malibu and Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Since I will always consider myself a Southerner, my favorite books tend to be by Southern authors: Donna Tartt, Pat Conroy, to name two. Literary fiction is my favorite genre. I also have a penchant for Ireland, so Irish writers and Irish settings draw my attention. I am the author of two novels, and for these past few years, have been a full-time writer. I'm thrilled to be a part of this group!

message 1012: by C.F. (new)

C.F. II (cfshifflettii) Hello Goodreaders,

I'm an "all-in" independent author. First started writing as a kid, doing super-8 scripts for my high school film productions. I love the cinema and studied all aspects of dramaturgy reading both stage and teleplays alike — whatever I could get my hands on, learning from the best. Humanities from Rod Serling. Ethics from Gene Roddenberry and everything else in between, from Chayefsky to Trumbo. I even went on to chase screenwriting for a time, LOL!

Later, after a long stint as an art director/creative for video games and websites, I eventually returned to writing as my one true vocation.

My current project is best described as a "sprawling coming of age parable set against a science fiction backdrop." The first book of a planned quadrilogy has just been released, and I'm looking forward to putting the next one out by the end of 2015.

As socially inept as I am, I'm still hoping to make a few new friends here on Goodreads, so drop me a line - I'm not going away.

;)

Black Dragon | 4 comments A Big Science Fiction fan. I love Star Wars, Star Trek, and Battlestar Galactica. I love Asian movies: Chinese especially. Kung-fu movies are my favorite genre. I love Chinese cooking, all things media like writing, video production. I have a B.F.A. in Film making and Video Production. A bachelor's in Computer Science. Nine classes short of getting 3rd bachelor's in Web Design. Plan on getting Master's in Movie and TV Production.

message 1018: by Tehreem (new)

Tehreem Fayyaz (tehreemfayyaz) Hello everyone! I am Tehreem from Pakistan. Love the fantasy fiction genre. Classics, children's, mystery and suspense are also my priorities. I write whenever I get time but I read everywhere: in bed, at bus stop, in garden, while shopping (this is my mama's trick to keep me shut up so that she can shop things at peace).

message 1019: by Margarita (new)

Margarita Kouznetsova | 1 comments Hi guys, my name is Rita Margarita I’m new to the group. Very excited! Please feel free to recommend a great book, I love fantasy. If there’s anything I can do for you, let me know.

message 1020: by Steven (new)

Steven | 1 comments I recently finished reading quite a good fantasy adventure, "Eleanor," by S. F. Burgess. It's long enough to be two books, and its only the first book in the series. I think a good byline for the book would be, "With great power comes great political, moral, ethical, and romantic complications." The author puts both the characters and the reader through the wringer. Plan for several decompression periods as you read.

message 1021: by Grace (new)

Grace Hamilton | 50 comments It is A.M Rycroft, I've been here for quite a while now and people are very generous spending their time reviewing books and helping others, it will be great to have you on board.

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL! :)

message 1032: by Nik (new)

Nik Krasno Hi,

I'm a beginner Goodreads junkie, legal sole practitioner, Dynamo Kyiv (ready to send a free e-book to first five, who know what it is-:)) fan and .... almost forgot, an author of Oligarch series written in historical fiction, thriller and action genres.

Would be glad to argue (and I do; glad that brawling is impossible via internet), meet readers and fellow authors and contribute to discussions, where I'd feel I might have some added value (if it's not taxable though -:))

Now yours,

Nik Krasno

message 1033: by Richard (new)

Richard Schiver | 7 comments Hello everyone, I'm Rick and I'm a reader and a writer with a soft spot for the dark stuff. I cut my teeth on Weird Tales and Tales from the Crypt comics as a kid before graduating to actual books.

I'm taking my second shot at this writing thing after losing ten years of work in 2001 when my computer crashed. I've got a couple of things out there, horror of course.

I'm an advocate of self publishing but I have been considering branching out into traditional publishing if for no other reason than to get my work into bookstores that are currently off limits to me.

It's a real pleasure to meet readers and writers alike, after all strangers are only friends we haven't been introduced to yet.

message 1035: by Cara (new)

Cara Cole (CaraCole) | 7 comments Hi!

I'm Cara - currently obsessed with historical romance novels - Cole. I really enjoy all genres but find myself turning back to Romance and History or a combination of the two.

I do write erotica when not reading: I found that reading erotica had a huge impact on my relationships, so I figured why not write it for others, too?

Looking forward to conversing with everyone!

Mike MacDonald | 1 comments Hey folks, my name is Mike MacDonald. If you see me spelling words like 'colour' with a 'u' it's because I'm a no-good Canadian. I write humour and enjoy reading a wide range of fiction including picaresque novels.

message 1039: by Betty (new)

Betty (meliaarhrt) | 1 comments Hello All,
I feel fortunate to have found a place to discuss books. I used to give books to friends, hoping they would read them and we could discuss them, but they seemed to never like the books I gave. I was a miserable failure as a librarian. I am a reading and writing teacher, a Literacy Specialist in California. By the time kids get to me, they already hate to read. My job is to turn that around!
I like historical fiction, the closer to fact, the better. I like well written fiction with a plot I cannot predict. If I can figure out the end of the story by the first chapter, I look for another book to read... so many books, so little time! As i look at my library, I read more books about dogs than I realized. I like the ones about how dogs think-- which I still can't figure out, haha.
My recent reads include Paul Bowles The Sheltering Sky, Tolstoy's The Death of Ivan Illyich, The City and The City by China Mieville, Lila: A Novel by Marilyn Robinson, and The Children Act by Ian McEwan, all had unexpected twists, the kind that really do mess up our lives. Enjoy!

Richard Schiver | 7 comments Hi everyone,

I'm a grandpaw that likes writing the dark stuff. I started reading when I was confined to bed at the age of seven and discovered a magnificent world beyond the walls of my bedroom.

Reading for me became a lifelong habit that has blossomed into a stab at the writing life.

I run a blog where I like to share interviews, new release announcements and guest posts from my fellow authors. You don't have to writer horror to participate, after all when you peel away the top layer that defines us, what you find beneath is the heart of a writer. Stop by and check it out.

About me: I spend too many late night hours bathed in the dim light of my Kindle, immersing myself in other people's worlds. When I awake I try to create worlds of my own.

I love surfing, digital storytelling, video production, my 18 month old daughter... all the usual things.

Looking forward to connecting and learning more about you.

Hi Jz, thank you! My goal since I can remember has been to read Literary Fiction and Classics but, try as I might, I never seem to get close to finishing the list. Just finished American Psycho and now reading Ulysses, for example. My writing is sometimes dark, sometimes philosophical, always trying to scratch beneath the surface of whatever fascinates me at the time. It's therapy, right? I'll put some links in the Author Zone. Thanks again for the welcome!
