postmortem of sorts on a series that has got me hooked

Oh yeah the first book was a bit off a lot of holes and no info at all I felt I was going in blind sure there are certain advantages to that you start discovering things along with the characters and you start identifying with them so I can let that go but perry was always a little unsure of herself more than anybody else, her nuclear progression to this over confident chica really annoyed me and the monologue thing when we first found out she had telepathic abilities I was like "oh shit now people are gonna find out how ditsy and stupid she really is"

I prefered the unsure Perry to the cocky Perry, even though I'm glad she found some confidence. I've said it before as well, I like the fact that the main character was on the short and curvy side!

did you check out Emmett? He's from Hollyoaks, I think he's lovely... right height and suits a rapist tash lol

ooh he does look a tad bit like dex except I dont think he's hot or vaguely handsome but rogue-ish totally fits the bill

I think this one was one of my faves. The area where it was set, the navajos (I think that's how you spell it) the creepy blind wife, I loved it all!

And of course, this is where, really where, Perry fell in love with Dex. That dance scene was so intense!

Yep totally agree,one of the best story lines I've ever read there was real mystery and at the time I was genuinely worried for them the entire creepy vibe was just intensified by the creepy I cant help but stress bitchy blind wife..Dex was being real with perry despite his intense not to mention bipolar mood swings,and the mystery around Dex was unraveling which made the book really interesting..

yup! creepy blind wife, possessed animals, the nearly rape attack.. and Dex feeling alive.. all added up to one creepily spooky story

but then from book 3 I started having concerns about the story itself and where and how it was progressing

its a known fact that perry has to end up with Dex but the how is what matters the most?
I think it was messed up..there was just a lot of unnecessary drama

wasn't there just! that's why Jenn was added to the story. Without her the drama would have been almost non existent

Jenn was perfect and a well needed ingredient..the losing their identity in the midst of the drama was hilarious for example Dex was all calm and suave through out the book and all of sudden he becomes this whiny little boy then perry was all in I'm still a girl not yet a woman head space and she goes out of her way to get dex to sleep with her and then goes completely psycho when the guy doesnt cuddle up with her or swap pillow talk like she was living some other reality or something..

a bit of a identity crisis/role reversal. I like suave Dex and whiny Dex not so keen on the love sick Dex tho, it doesn't suit him..

I'm re-reading Deborah Harkness A Discovery of witches.. really enjoyed it the first time so I bought the second but decided to read this one again first..

I have no idea. I suppose if you're open to the truth then you can see and accept anything but if you're too afraid of the truth and the pain it may cause then you only see what you want. you hide behind the metaphorical rose tinted glasses.. so people prefer to look at the world as though it was rosie coloured!

I prefer my world grey colured, the truth as it is.. not black or white but both.

hmm I guess reality is a cold comfort..
How could any self respecting guy live with that though he just blindly looked the other way..
If his friends really loved him they should have told him I know its not the best job in the world but one feels more betrayed when they know they were the last one to find out

I think the denial ran deep tho. Rebecca was probably scard he'd have a brake down or refuse to believe her.. he was hardly stable lol

Yea..but weren't his friends in the dark about his past?
anyhow..I still dont understand how the fight was blown out of proportion both were guilty in so many ways but somehow Dex was somehow the worst offender.

Perry did try and take the moral high ground by some who dismissing what they'd done and she had no right. Suppose the fact she was in love with him made her angry enough to do so. .

her being in love with him justified her weird outburst..well its a ghost story so I guess anything goes

her mum where do I start what a self-serving ,pretentious bitch what kind of daughter puts her own mother into an asylum from what I could glean pippa wasnt crazy she just saw things,and the fact that she was even considering putting her a lil girl into the crazy house jeez that's just a whole lot of messed up right there..and her rant when Perry was leaving Dex to his place what the hell was that..

isn't she just! I mean, she sections her own mother,who then dies in there, to then try the exact same thing with her daughter?! The woman obviously never learns. either that or she was hoping Perry would die in there too!

I expected her to kick up a fuss when she was leaving, not because she wanted her to stay but so she could keep her beady eyes on her! I think she eventually wanted Perry to end up in a mental institute because shes just plain right evil!

I'm thinking maybe she gets worse in the next book, like an enemy set out to destroy those who can see... maybe she's a demon!

I may be letting my imagination run away with its self BUT it'd be pretty awesome!

What about her dad? how can two brothers be so different? I mean, her uncle is pretty switched on..

I was attracted to Darkhouse as I love Lighthouses and the book was free... I was immediately hooked and I just cant put Dex down lol, in need of a Dex fix daily. I am now on book #5.5 Old Blood. I think its fair to say its one of the best series I have read :-) Anyone as obsessed with these books as I am?

Team Dex for me.

I was team Perry to start with and didn't trust Dex at all. Not until the second book. Dex and Perry were up the tree. That was my fave bit, and book.

I think Dex had more character development. He seemed to grow up and accept his faults and change them. Perry just got angrier.

Hey jo ive started On Every Street. I don't even know where to start with Javier. I sort of love him and hate him. How bloody foward and cocky? He needed to posses her on the first date. Why? It all seemed very quick. Was it love at first sight? I'm enjoying tho, loads. Im at 64% and they're on their way to see s boat he wants to buy. I really hope he doesn't end up a bad man... He's too sweet!

at first I got the distinct ick factor when he takes her virginity and the eventual manifestation of the 1000 other creepy attributes that he covers with his oily charm..

but he grew on me and I started liking the couple though I wanted her to get her revenge too so means to an end I suppose but the end jeez!
saw that coming I swear but I still couldn't believe it

I did too but I still felt gutted for her. He was a creep, a stalking, murdering, cheating, psychopathic creep! I just wish she could of got some revenge on Javier. I had visions of her throwing poison over him instead, you know, so he wouldn't be a pretty womans man anymore!

Do you think he'll come back into it in the other books? he said he'd look for her on every street.
