postmortem of sorts on a series that has got me hooked
That is because she is absolutely bored out of her tiny mind with life and just when she needs it a complete hunk of a bloke knockes her on her ass (literally) and begs her to join him on the dark side and into a scary adventure! I'd be there ;)
lol..now thats definitely a great way to put your life in danger..so first impression of Dex A.K.A Declan & lets not forget perry's parents who I cant stand..
IKR!! I dont like the parents either. I love the sister tho.. the responsible sister, yet the sister who's debted up to her eye balls in credit card bills! shes 15, who on earth gave her a credit card?! oh yes, the swedish ex model mother.. hardly something the very religious, stingy, bad tempered father would do!! Where the hell do you start with Dex? He's is most definitely complicated... I haven't sussed him yet.

the parents haven't figured out if they love perry as much as they love Ada which pisses me off to no end..Ada I think has potential to be a better sister to perry she hasn't messed up in the eyes of her parents "yet", ergo the attitude and therefore comes off as the the more level headed sister..they arent close and I hope it improves as the series progresses..
The father-as much as I want to believe that perry has a lot in common with her father I think its just in her head.
The mother-judgmental know it all and for some reason I find her a tad creepy
Dex-the height thing bugged me but then compared to her I suppose he's as tall as a palm tree.
the revelation in the end about the prescription meds got me thinking about what they really for sure they are antipschotics but treating what?..
loved the quirky eyebrow piercing and their mutual taste in music was cute..
what about this Jenny as well? something doesn't add up. Maybe it's a case of he doesn't want to be in a relationship with someone he could actually fall in love with, specially with what happened with his ex.. as far as the meds go I think there's still a lot to find out. I was toying with the idea he suffered with 'hallucinations' as a child like Perry did? She turned to drugs didn't she, maybe he ended up going doo-laly as well..
meds-you might be onto something..but he saw crazy pom pom lady(whats with her btw she seems to really like him)Couldnt stand maximus in the second book he was really out of line the whole time he's got a 6 ft 7 grudge against dex which is just sad
jenn is his saftynet its safe I suppose,But Dex does seem interested in Perry I just wish she wasn't so obvious about her feelings for him..
that crazy clown woman seriously freaks me out. I haven't yet sussed if she's there to help or not, I mean she did tell them to help each other. I don't think he has a clue how she feels, if he does then thats just mean because he's hurting her.. that dance scene in the pub? my heart broke for her..I'm not even sure how he feels aswell, Max said he'll basically let her down, I know he's jealous but what if he's right? What if Dex is going to let her down and leave her?
He's just playing around with her and that sucks for perrywhich book are you on?
just finished book two last night. Don't get me wrong I love Dex. I shouldn't, but I do. And after their moment up the tree and in the hotel I like him more. I think he's probably trying to protect them both from falling because he doesn't think he's good enough for her.
That bit in the tree when he said he felt alive for the first time and he was about to die.. I loved that! :)
can I just say as well that I love the fact the main character isn't a stick thin hotty! Curvaceous and beautiful :)

That was beautiful..He's really in touch with his emotions when he'e off the meds which kinda makes sense
but wasn't the book just fantastic I mean I knew the old lady was bonking the weirdo..but the whole skin walker thing was creepy...a def twist when it comes to shapeshifters and perry being magnet for death and despair was just classic though I wonder why that is...anyway finishing book 3 today where you at?
only started this morning but had to entertain the kids all day (easter holidays) so I'll pick up soon... is it as good as the second?

I'm only half way through book 3 at the min, I shall do my best to catch up. .Dex has just admitted Jenns pregnant, which I actually dreamed last night!! And Perry's wondered off to the loo while Dex is passed out in the tent.
For a guy who seems to want a relationship he sure seems confused about what is expected of him..and giving perry mixed signals with the lap dance he is just all over the place with this one..poor perry..
I know, I've just passed the tent part.. and the broken nose part, then the very bizarre hit on the head, tied to a tree and used a climbing wall by a baby literally falling apart part... on 80%

I thought that. I mean, she was fearing for his life, right? Basically grabbed hold of him and pleaded that he stayed, she said "I need you" and bam he's jumping her bones. I personnally took it as she needed him not to be dead but he took as a, I need to jump your bones kind of way, I suppose. But I didn't see her arguing. I'm way behind you so you have more of a clue than I do about their relationship. I sort of get the jist that he doesn't really love Jenn, that he is sort of protecting Perry by staying away from her but I always thought that. Surely he has some feelings for her that arn't just friendship, partnership or lust? I like to think he loves her..
I also got the idea from something else he said that Jenn was safe, like safe from all the ghostly stuff that had him sectioned? I might have read more into that then necessary because we didn't know about the mental institute then, but I still got the impression she was keeping his feet on the ground.
I like how the author has played the sexual tension. I have got to the fourth book and still can't figure out Dex, I'm hooked due to their relationship as much as I am to the creepy stories... and the creepy clown lady, I still haven't figured her out yet.
Oh poor Perry.. I'm feeling really nervous for her. And angry, of course, he didn't even get jealous about the whole Brock thing. How on earth is she going to get through living with Jenn and their new dog, fat rabbit? Ha, name made me laugh... I can't believe they got a dog and new apartment!
I'm starting to think he just likes leading Perry on..

Oh so at least we can sort of guess Perry gets this gift from her grandmother who also 'lied' alot! I really hate her parents now.. Love Uncle Al tho, and the twins.
the parents are a real piece of work...he(dex)did seem rather possessive of her phone on the island..I think he wants to believe that jenn is good for him,keeps him sane grounded that chick doesn't exactly seem like the whimsical sort anyway..Still I think its more than obvious that dex is aware that perry has some pretty intense feeling for him he's playing dumb and he is scared of her.
the whole makeout thing was just so not necessary he was going to have a child with another woman feeling r not perry should have played it cool and fended him off he like any typical guy was trying to vent his frustration out through sex...
perry in this case acted true to her age...and thus got even more emotionally entangled with the guy and whats with the guy calling her baby..dude there's a line...
sometimes Perry comes off as the mature one then Dex takes a turn at the bat..its annoying as hell
I think we should blame the inappropriate make out sesh on the whole messed up island thing, afterall, it did crazy things to them.. I don't like the fact she's messed with his meds and she should have confessed in the alley after he saw Abbey, she had made her point, he doesn't need them because he's not mental... he'll certainly be mad tho when he finds out!
Jenn, pffffft.. Rebecca just confirmed what we thought about her. She's safe and he doesn't like change.
oh yeah that was real mature of her switching up his meds what if something awful had happened would she have been able to deal with the fallout I don't think so..poor Dex he's just surrounded by lying two faced women..
on the up side love Rebecca her sense of style and her entire attitude top notch..and she seems rather loyal to Dex

you cant blame Jenn she is what she makes herself out to be which is shallow insecure and in constant need of validation physical or otherwise the woman needs to be D center of every guys universe that's what gets her off so in other words pathetic
Exactly. Totally agree about Rebecca and I feel better knowing Dex has at least her. She'll be honest with him and there's absolutely no way there's any hidden motives involved. I'm on chapter 18, 72%. They're stuck in the basement of the mental institute and Spook Factory won't help them out.. I'm hoping they get their karma?

I'm at 81%.. I'm feeling really anxious about Dex findind out about the meds.. I keep telling myself that he has to forgive her or there wouldn't be a fifth book, right?
Ohhhh and I was sooo right about Jen being Miss Anonymous! I bloody knew it...
lol..hated Dex's take on things(miss anonymous=skanky girlfriend) why are guys wired with some stupid code book which totally defies logic..

Definitely cowardly, but I can see why. I think she just wanted one more night, one night of looking utterly gorgeous and one night of him not knowing she'd betrayed and lied to him.. I get it...
