Sarah - I might read the Violets of March with you, but I'm not quite ready to schedule that far out yet. lol You might be even more of a planner than I am!

I'm glad to see that you are planning to continue with the Dark Tower series! I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to The Wind Through the Keyhole in December.

message 412: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Cool.

message 413: by Brightness (last edited Aug 27, 2013 07:48PM) (new)

Brightness (brightnessreads) | 429 comments Sarah I've been wanting to read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell Neverwhere and Oryx and Crake.

I've been on the fence about The Road. I know people who either love it or loathe it. I may read it with you and make up my own mind. ;)

Oh, and I'll also be continuing The Dark Tower series.

message 414: by ElvenRaven (new)

ElvenRaven | 244 comments I'm in if you want to read Neverwhere :)
is January 2014 ok? (There you go, Lynn :D)

I can do about two per month. 2 on the top of my list is Oryx and Crake and Jonathan and Norell. I don't know anything about setting up threads but if you want any dates after the New Year work for me. But we must remember Jonathan and Norell is a big book.

message 416: by Sarah (last edited Aug 27, 2013 08:30PM) (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments I actually may be reading Neverwhere earlier - I am part of a Neil Gaiman reading challenge where we read a book of his a month. It may be December. I would do this READ here when I do it with my other group too?

message 417: by Brightness (new)

Brightness (brightnessreads) | 429 comments Yeah that would make the most sense to read Neverwhere here when you read it with your other group. I'm good any time after the new year. Pick the dates and Lynn can set them up in the calendar.

message 418: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Karlee how about Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell for January 10th, 2014 and Oryx and Crake for February 1st, 2014?

Lynn - can you set these up for us?

message 419: by Brightness (new)

Brightness (brightnessreads) | 429 comments Those dates sound great!

message 420: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (kirbyland1986) I might join you on some of them they look good.... Let me know dates :)

message 421: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments Jonathan Strange is one of my all-time favourites. I have it on my kindle to re-read, but I just never get there!

message 422: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Sarah, I'm in for Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and I want to continue The Dark Tower series, so I'm in as well. Any date suits me.

I will definitely take part in the discussion on Neverwhere as well, it is my all time favourite read :)

I'm just quickly checking things before I head to work, I will sort this for you tonight :)

message 424: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments I am trying to sort out Neverwhere for mid December if that works for people? The 15th. Let me know before we lock this one in.

message 425: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Anima - I am in to continue dark tower with you anytime after New year's eve. What dates work for you? I just want to work them around the other buddy reads. So like January 1st or 20th or February 8th or 15th? We could choose one for book five and then 1 for book six. Gosh I hope I like the series. I haven't even gotten very far in the first book yet, but I am a little behind right now. But I have all the books on my bookshelf.

message 426: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Sarah, I don't have any scheduled reads for the next year, so every date suits me :)

message 427: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (kirbyland1986) Never where looks good but I have a book schedule for dec 15th already

I hope I can fit these books in a I am due for m second child on the 16th lol

message 428: by Sarah (last edited Aug 28, 2013 01:18AM) (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Anima, I can't believe I am setting all these dates. I am not good at this stuff. So here I go. Start Wolves of the Calla January 20th, 2014 and Song of Susannah Feb 8th, 2013? I am literally picking arbitrary dates here.

I have created a monster, but thank you everyone for joining several buddy reads with me:)

message 429: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments So, I will set up the threads for the two parts of the Dark Tower with these dates, Sarah :)

message 430: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Kristie - we should read The Violets of March in March - since I have now booked myself up for January and February. It would be so fitting. But we can get back to this one later and check in.

Karlee - it would be great if you joined Anima and I for a continuation of The Dark Tower. And I would love to read The Road with you at some point if you wanna give it a shot. I have heard the same things. It is not going to be a happy read.

message 431: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Anima wrote: "So, I will set up the threads for the two parts of the Dark Tower with these dates, Sarah :)"

O.K. I deleted my note to Lynn for these ones

Kristie | 6841 comments Mod
Annabel - Congratulations!

Sarah - I may end up doing the Violets of March earlier. I still need my V book for my A-Z challenge. I had planned a different book, but I have that one on my shelf so it makes more sense. I'll let you know when it gets closer.

I may join some of the other reads too. It just depends what my schedule looks like that far out and what BOMs I have scheduled, etc. I'll let you know about those too.

Also, I think Anima just meant that she'd set up the threads. Normally whoever suggests the buddy read sets up the thread for it, but Lynn still needs to add it the schedule.

You guys went crazy last night! lol

message 433: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Lynn, thanks for setting up the thread with a next year's calendar of buddy reads :), it is helpful taking into consideration the 'huge' number of buddy reads ahead LOL

message 434: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4472 comments Mod
So ......

Cin - Thank you for being the first to talk about 2014 :D

2014 calender started; with the two Dark Tower books, Jonathan Strange and Oryx and Crake added.
(Discussion threads also set up for the latter two).

Should I also be adding Neverwhere for December 15th?

message 435: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (kirbyland1986) Is the dark tower series good is it worth trying to catch up next year?

message 436: by Jason (new)

Jason Parent | 36 comments I thought the Gunslinger was just okay, but others in the know are saying it gets better from there. I'll give the second book a shot.

message 437: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Lynn, yes lets do Neverwhere December 15th. Thank you Lynn for helping set up these threads for me. I am very bad at this kind of stuff.

message 438: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (kirbyland1986) Ok thanks Jason's will have a go - be next year as I have a few to read this year

message 439: by Lynn, Moderator (last edited Aug 28, 2013 12:27PM) (new)

Lynn | 4472 comments Mod
Sarah - I've added Neverwhere but do you realise that there is The Princess Bride is already scheduled for that date?

Maybe do a different date?

message 440: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Oh no. Let me check the calender

message 441: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments I know it is Christmas time but December 21st. I know December is quite open, but it is the holidays.

message 442: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4472 comments Mod
Well I think it's a better date than the 15th and while December is a busy time there is also a lot of downtime too.

I'll change it to that and if someone comes up with a better suggestion I'll just change it again :)

message 443: by Dominique (new)

Dominique Hey Sarah,

L'm up for The Art of Fielding and Human Stain

Sarah wrote: "Sue wrote: "Lynn wrote: "Yup, I've just been adding them to the calender :)

Well Sue....."

message 444: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorloran) I was hoping Never Let Me Go, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro was going to win the November additional read. Anyone interested in a buddy read for this book? I'm fine with pushing it off into next year if that suites people better.

message 445: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Taylor, when were you wanting to maybe read Never Let Me Go (in a perfect world if you could start when you wanted to?)

message 446: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorloran) Good question. :) Since I was tentatively planning to read it in November if it made the cut, and since Gatsby is fairly short, I would probably still read it in Nov. if no one speaks up for the buddy read. December and January are good for me as well.

Dominique - I would love to. Didn't think anyone would choose these ones with me - that is so cool. I am not available until anytime in March, 2014 and on. I would do them anytime then so you choose dates and let me know.

message 448: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Taylor, I would gladly join you in November, and I was thinking about reading In the Woods (Dublin Murder Squad, #1) by Tana French either in November or December, so maybe there is someone who would like to read this book with me :)?

message 449: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I might be able to squeeze In the Woods in Anima, I have this book here waiting to be read :-) - December would probably work better for me...

message 450: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments It is fine with me, I can easily schedule it on December :), I do not have many reads planned for that month :)
