Buddy Reads Requests
Hannah and I are starting the Abandon trilogy by Meg Cabot today: http://www.goodreads.com/series/57816.... You are all welcomed to join us. Here is the thread for the 1st book
.
Oh! Wish I could join you, but it's not a good time for me to add anything. I may read it at some point and add my thoughts. I didn't know there was a buddy read for Abandon scheduled. Was it a last minute decision?

The books are short so maybe you can join us next month...
No, that's great that you added it! The more buddy reads for everyone to join the better. I'm a bit behind on my buddy reads already. I still need to finish Bitterblue!
My June schedule got a little off track because my professor asked us to read a couple text books and some articles in a week and a half, which I wasn't expecting. Plus, I tried to squeeze in Gone Girl. I should know better than to think that I can "squeeze in" a book. lol But, I'm glad I did. I've been wanting to read it for a while.
July is going to be a difficult month for me (time wise) and I've already obligated myself to a couple reads, so I may have to read the Abandon series a little later. I'll be looking forward to reading your thoughts on it though and if I can "squeeze them in" I will. :)

Alycia, I will gladly do it, I have been thinking about reading this book for some time, I think it is a perfect timing :)When do you want to start?
Alycia wrote: "Anybody want to do a buddy read for
?"It's been on my list for forever! I would love to try and join you guys.
Alycia wrote: "Awesome! What works for you gals? I'm open to anything. :) We can do it now if you want."Hey, sorry for the delayed answer, I have a hectic week at work, and rarely have time to think straight in the evening... So, I would be happy to start reading on Friday if it is ok with you :)
That's okay, Anima...I totally understand about being hectic. :) Friday works perfectly for me. I will set up the discussion board now!
I don't think I've ever read it and I do want to give it a go Katie, so I will try and fit it in August!
Katie wrote: "I'm reading 1984 by George Orwell on 1st of August :) any buddies? :D"I only just recently finished listening to this on audio and still don't know how I feel about it. It kind of made me feel 'unclean' which is hard to explain but might make more sense when you read it.
I can't wait to see what you guys think about it!
Ooh 1984 is a book I definitely want to read! I've wanted to read it for a long time, I think I'll join you if I can squeeze it in the middle of all the books I have scheduled for August :)
Just realized that we never set up a thread for the Unwind buddy read that starts Nov 1, so I started one. I know it's still pretty far off, but that just gives people more time to plan to add it to their reading schedules. :) Hope a lot of you will join!

Cherene, I have some spare time in August, so I will gladly join you as the book sounds interesting :)
Cherene - I just bought that book! I'm not sure if I'll have time to read it in August, but I'll join the conversation if I can.
Anima and I are thinking about reading Before I Go To Sleep
the last week of August. Would anyone like to join us? We can adjust the week that we read it if someone is interested, but needs a different time.

I would try but I gotta check the buddy read calender real quick. I have a lot already planned in August
Hmmm well I want to read Before I Go To Sleep too .... but obviously can't do Matched at the same time too.
So would need one to be end of August, and one to be beginning of September.

Would the beginning of September work for everyone for Before I Go To Sleep? I could do that if that works for everyone else.
Actually, I don't know who's doing A Walk Across the Sun, but that's September 1st, so maybe a little later. Maybe the 7th???
Lynn, Anima, Sarah - What do you ladies think of Sept 7th?
Anyone else interested?

I'm not doing Walk Across the Sun as I've already read it .... but the 7th probably works for me.
Before I Go to Sleep is a great book that will not take very long to read. Pretty sure, I read it in a day and a half. Great suspense!

too.
I'll read Before I Go to Sleep September 7th. What does everyone want to do for Matched? August 23rd?
OK, Lynn AKA "Our Calendar Lady" ;) I set up the thread for Before I Go to Sleep. I scheduled it for Sept 7, assuming that date works for Anima, since this was really her buddy read suggestion.

That sounds fine to me Cherene.

Cherene wrote: "Anyone want to read Matched
with me? In or around August? Or, even, September?"My August is pretty full already but if I miraculously read quicker than projected I'm definitely interested in joining in on the buddy read for this one. I've had it on my TBR pile for ages!
I accidentally purchased
on my kindle (just wanted to download the extract. It seems good so I guess I'll keep reading! :)
The first chapters were intense... However, I don't how my comment ended up on this thread! I must have been very tired!! ;)
Hi everyone! There's been some talk of starting a buddy read of Scarlet
in the Cinder thread. If anyone is interested in doing a buddy read, please choose a date together and set up a thread! I'll join the conversation, but I've already the book. So, whenever you guys choose to do the read is fine with me!

Er, was I supposed to be the one to start the Matched topic for August 23rd? Or does the mod put these topics in? (I might have dropped the ball here). Also, I concur on Scarlet. September or Octoberish is what I'd lean towards.

Usually whoever suggests the book sets the date and starts a thread after they have at least one buddy, then Lynn adds it to the calendar.
Also, I've noticed that most people post the link to the thread in this thread with the start date to let Lynn know that it's set up. (I didn't notice Matched in the calendar yet.)

Cherene - No one else seems to have a date preference for Scarlet, so does mid September work for you? I could set up a thread for Sept 15th or so? If a later date is better, I could do that too.
