Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Wow, my head is spinning from all those great buddy read suggestions, I wanted to start Hunger Games, but I would like to join you in the extra reads as some of them are on my TBR list too.

So I will try to join you with Me Before You and maybe with City of Bones, when it comes to October, that's a great idea to set the thread already, I can plan my reading schedule better now :)

message 102: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments And I will set the thread for the 5th Wave at the end of July :)

message 103: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments Hunger Games has been on my "one day" list for a while... Let me know if you want to schedule it in sometime!

Karen wrote: "@Lynn - Karlee and I have been chatting about reading
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness
as we both missed the discussion when the group did it last month.
I'm not sure of the 'manners' here...Do the mods mind if we set this up and did this as a buddy read even though it has been read already by the group?"

Eeerrrm honestly that questions hasn't come up before. I know we don't want reads done for future scheduled books but for books after they've been read .... let me know get back to you.

message 105: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments @Karen, I would gladly do it, I planned to read it this month, but there is so much going on with our buddy reads, I'm not sure I can do it, so maybe I could reschedule it for later... or try to put it somewhere inbetween. Maybe you have some suggestion about the date :)

message 106: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments @ Lynn - no problems, we could always add our thoughts to the end of the existing discussion thread and try and stay away from spoilers if it complicates things too much to have another thread

@Anima - How about June? I haven't worked out my reading schedule yet but we can just start at the beginning of the month and see how our reading pace takes us?

message 107: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments That sounds great, there are some buddy reads scheduled, but as we are not strict about the reading pace, I'm in :)

message 108: by Sarah (last edited May 07, 2013 01:24AM) (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Anima, would be great if you joined in for Me Before You. I don't know how I am gonna fit everything in either. But I will. I have been passing on the other series reads but once the group series reads start with divergent, dark tower and passage series is when it is gonna get real busy for me. So I am trying to squeeze some extra reads in before then.

message 109: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Sarah, I will join Me Before You as it is on my TBR list anyway, so I decided to read it as a buddy read in May rescheduling my other reads :) It's getting busier and busier with every week LOL

Savanes | 2107 comments Karen wrote: "@ Lynn - no problems, we could always add our thoughts to the end of the existing discussion thread and try and stay away from spoilers if it complicates things too much to have another thread

@An..."

I think adding to the current thread would be the best. Plus people who have already read the book (like me :)) might give you their perspective...

message 111: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Karen - As Vanessa said above please use the current thread. Maybe if you'd started reading it a few months after then a buddy read would work but as it's so close to the group read, I think it's best to just contribute to the current thread.

message 112: by Karen ⊰✿ (last edited May 07, 2013 02:57PM) (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments No probs Vanessa and Lynn - will do!

message 113: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments @Kristin & Karlee -
I just left a note on the existing thread here so the group that has already read it doesn't wonder why we suddenly start leaving new comments! :)
Are you able to squish it in to your schedule in June? If we start the 3rd June and try and read around 50 pages a day?

message 114: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Please discuss any books that are set as Books of the Month or Series Reads in their discussion threads; buddy reads and additional reads are only for books that are not part of the Goodreads Choice Awards scheduled reads. The discussion threads are always available no matter how much time has passed by :-).

message 115: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments Thanks Cathie. Although I hope we enjoy it more than you did (2 stars! eek!) :)

message 116: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments @Anima - I'm ready to start the Hunger Games next month (finally!). Thread is here

message 117: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments You probably will Karen. It was more like 2.5 stars for me and remember, on Goodreads, 2 stars = I liked it :-)

Kristie (and anyone else who wants to join us) - November for Unwind?

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Scheduling books for November, crazy! :)

message 121: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments hahahaha
And I thought I was bad scheduling one in October! ;)

@Cathie - true! I give books a 2 stars when it's a bit meh and usually up it to 3 if it has merit. Means I have alot of books with 3 stars though...lol

message 122: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Lynn, I have books scheduled all the way til the end of the year! And you're keeping right in theme with our Group, as we have set our schedules for Award Winners and Series Reads right up to Dec, so why not buddy reads. Anything worth doing is worth scheduling :-).

I also find scheduling things frees up my mind to know it will get done, and then I can do other things without the worry of thinking, I need to do that. Scheduling actually seems to always grant me "more" time :-) (This should probably be in the Time Keepers thread, lol)

message 123: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
Lynn - No kidding! But we have so many buddy reads scheduled already. We're going to be busy readers!

message 124: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Unwind is on my tbr :)

message 125: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments My schedule is already booked for the whole year but Unwind is also on my tbr and I wonder if I could fit it in. You guys are killing me. I will have to wait and see on this one.

message 126: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
My schedule has doubled! I hope I can keep up!

message 127: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Karen wrote: "@Anima - I'm ready to start the Hunger Games next month (finally!). Thread is here "

Thank you for creating a thread on HG :), I'm starting it with you in June :)

message 128: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments I know that we have many Buddy reads planned already but I would like to propose we do one or two buddy reads with gcac nominees so that it can help those who are participating in the gcac challenge.
As you may have guessed I want to succeed (I need 5 more, yay)!

Personally, I have many books from the gcac that I want to read but lets start with two (maybe one in August and one in September?). What about The Selection The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass & A Walk Across the Sun A Walk Across the Sun by Corban Addison (Lynn, I know you wanted to read that one ;)). Anyone interested?

message 129: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments I plan to read walk across the sun, so count me in!!

message 130: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Already read Walk Across the Sun, sorry!

message 131: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Yay Joanne, when would you like to read it? August or September?

message 132: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments @Lynn: Was it good?

message 133: by Jojo (new)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Either is good for me :)

message 134: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Vanessa, I've just read the synopsis of The Selection, and I would gladly read it as a buddy read :)

Vanessa wrote: "@Lynn: Was it good?"

Because of the subject matter I expected to feel a lot more emotion when reading it but it felt slightly detached. However it was a good read nonetheless, I gave it 4 stars.

message 136: by Lynn, Moderator (last edited May 09, 2013 11:44AM) (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
The Selection is on my tbr so I'll join if you choose August (ideally mid August because already reading 5th Wave at the beginning) rather than September ..... September is my busiest month of the year for me and I'll be MIA somewhat from this place.

How will you cope without me? ;o)

message 137: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Lynn, without you a lot of spoilers will be missing :D

message 138: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I think I can manage reading The Selection in August (from the 16th let's say) as it is the time of summer break in Poland, so I should have some more time than in September, when I have PhD entrance exams.

message 139: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Anima, I'm wondering if you know that you are double and sometimes even triple posting the same message? Perhaps you have a glitch with your phone or internet?

message 140: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I have sometimes problems with downloading and refreshing the comments, but I usually check if there are double post, sorry for that

message 141: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Not a problem, I thought you were repeating yourself because you thought we weren't listening to ya, lol, snortsnickers

message 142: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I do have this problem sometimes :D, but usually not in writing :)

Sorry for asking, but what snortsnickers are?

message 143: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
It's a snort and a snicker done at the same time :)

(This is assuming that you know what a snort is and what a snicker is?)

I often follow you around the boards deleting your double posts Anima lol

message 146: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Ok, now I understand, I use the two words separately, but I've never come across the two of them combined.

Lynn, thanks for the answer :)

message 147: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Anima, it's like a full belly laugh, except when I do it I snort (very cutely, I must add!, sounds like a gurgle) and snicker :-)!! Really ~ just one of the way's I'm made, lol!

message 148: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments ::like:: Cathie, and thanks for explaining :)

message 149: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments lol
