Great! I have made a thread here
I haven't looked at June yet, but my May is pretty full, so I've just put it as TBC. Any time in June work better for you?

There is already a plan for some of the guys on here (Kristie and Anima come to mind) to read it in July as a buddy read. Of course it's not stopping anyone doing it in June, just thought I'd give you the heads up.

message 53: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
Yes! We have a buddy read of Bitterblue planed in June and When She Woke in July. :) We'd love for others to join is! Also, we planned something else for August, but haven't posted it yet. The Fifth Wave, I think. Anima - Is that right?

message 54: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments Oops, sorry! I didn't see an existing discussion thread for it. Should I change the one I made to July or delete it?

message 55: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments @Kristie, you're right about August, Lynn has already included the 5th Wave into the calendar as far as I know :)

message 56: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
I saw that after I posted this. Thank you.

Lynn- Great idea to make a calendar! Thank you for doing that.

message 57: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Karen - Completely up to you ..... you and Vanessa are more than welcome to read it in June as a Buddy read or join Kristie and Anima in July.

message 58: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 6 comments Hi! I am new to this group. Could someone please explain what a "Buddy Read" is? Probably a stupid question, but I'm just inexperienced with the online book club thing. Thanks!

message 59: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Hey Shelley - It's where members of the group suggest a book that they want to read (that isn't scheduled to read as a group read)and ask if anyone wants to read with them. Basically you have a 'buddy' to read a book and discuss the story with you, as you read :)

Thanks, Lynn.

message 61: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Ooops I totally forgot about that... Maybe we should also open a buddy read page every time we're decided about a book :)

July seems good to me. We could use Karen's thread (it's already created)...

message 62: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments I'm fine with that - I haven't worked out my reading schedule for June yet anyway :)
I'll change the thread title and make a start date of July 1

The discussion thread is here for those that would like to join

Great it's a "date"! :D

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments Now, I know heaps of people have already read this,
Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor
but just checking if anyone would like to do a buddy read?

message 65: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments OOohhh I want to read Smoke and Bone Karen but I probably wouldn't get to it until October ~ just way too many books already committed to for the upcoming months

message 66: by Kristie, Moderator (last edited May 06, 2013 03:28PM) (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
I was just thinking the same thing Cathie! I have Daughter of Smoke and Bone sitting on my bookshelf, but I have too many library and book club books out right now. Though if it's a little later in the year, I'd love to join in the discussion.

I just got The House Girl by Tara Conklin and Me Before You by Jojo Moyes from the library. I'm planning to start them within the next couple weeks. Anyone interested in either of those?

message 67: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
I have City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare on my schedule to read in July before the movie comes out in August. If you want to do it then, I'll join or I can just add my comments later, if you want to read it before that.

(I know! I'm pushing everything off! I have SO many to read.)

message 68: by Lynn, Moderator (last edited May 06, 2013 03:41PM) (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
It's on my tbr list too and I'd like to read it before the movie ..... I'll happily join in July.

Kristen, Karen?

message 69: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Well there's three of us, I think that's enough to say we have a buddy read :)

I'll put it on the calender!

message 70: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Oh, as When She Woke is on the 1st July so we start City of Bones in the middle of the month .... on the 16th?

message 71: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
That works for me!

message 72: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments KRISTIE. Now those are two books I will read. I will do whenever u want if you can set it up. I am not good at that stuff. I want to read one that is a 2012 GR nomination so let me check real quick.

message 73: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments City of Bones in July sounds great! I actually have it on reserve at the library, but I'm happy to wait :)

I don't have a timeframe for Daughter of Smoke and Bone, so if there's a few of us that want to do it, happy to wait until October so Cathie can join too.

@Krsitie - Me Before You was pretty much my favourite book so far this year. It is a great book for a buddy read as it will generate LOTS of discussion. I would read it again!
The House Girl looks interesting. depending on when it is, I may be able to fit it in :o

message 74: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
Sarah - The House Girl is 2013, so it was not a 2012 nomination. It could be a 2013 nomination though...?? I don't know about Me Before You. I think was in 2012, so maybe... Let me know what you find.

Karen - I'd love for you to join us! I was thinking about starting the House Girl maybe half way through this month. I already picked it up from the library (I had it on hold for a while), so I can't wait too long on that one. But I can renew it, so it doesn't have to be immediately. What would work for you?

message 75: by Sarah (last edited May 06, 2013 04:11PM) (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments Kristie, neither are:-( So u choose :-) anytime works for me. As long as it can be downloaded from Amazon. Let me check.

message 76: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments Because I am ridiculously organised, I have created a thread for
Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor

I have put the start date as 5 October 2013. I know that feels like ages away, but it will fly by!

The thread is here

message 77: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments @Kristie - Let me know when you set up Me Before You as I will join the discussion. I got it as a free download for my kindle last year sometime and then didn't read it until February and I basically finished it in a day. I recommend it to everyone ;)

I just tried searching for the House Girl, but none of my local libraries stock it, and it isn't available on kindle, so I'll have to pass on that one. Let me know what it's like and if it is worthwhile for me to hunt down at some point!

Sounds great! I updated my reading schedule. :)

Did you have a preference for The House Girl or Me Before You? Or a time that would work for you in the next say 6 weeks?

Ok. Sorry I didn't see this before my last post. How about if we say...Me Before You starting around May 16? Does that work for you?

Sarah - Would that work for you too?

message 80: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments :) Good for me!

message 81: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I'm interested in Me Before You; I've had that one on sitting on my bookshelf staring at me for awhile now & it's one of my bookclub's read for the month

message 82: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments Ok, I have created a discussion thread for
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare
to start 16 July. The discussion thread is here

Now I need to go and have a shower and start my day! :D

message 83: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
Excellent Cathie! Will the 16th work for you as well?

message 84: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I can move things around and do Me Before You on the 16th of this month. And Karen you are the best in scheduling Smoke and Bone for Oct!.

I have so many books already scheduled and then new ones keep popping up; I've had to learn to say not yet, well, for the most part, lol. Some of my books I can't reschedule because they are part of challenges of f2f book club reads.

message 85: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1467 comments It works for me. Perfect. I think Cathie suggested she is already reading it this month so yeah. It is a 2012 book but I don't think it got nominated. It was Jan. 2012 I think

message 86: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
I set up the buddy read thread for Me Before You by Jojo Moyes to start on May 16, 2013.

Here is the link: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Let me know if I need to change anything. :)

1st of August has been noted, I'll leave it to Anima to start the thread as it was her that suggested it :)

Jojo (jojosbooknook) | 717 comments Kristie wrote: "I better get a move on with Fire! Hoping to finish that in the next couple days so I'll be ready for all these great reads on time!"

I'm going to start it properly tonight, I've been avoiding the thread so that I'm not tempted to look at the spoilers!!

Sarah wrote: "It works for me. Perfect. I think Cathie suggested she is already reading it this month so yeah. It is a 2012 book but I don't think it got nominated. It was Jan. 2012 I think"

I looked in to it as it was published in the UK in Jan 2012 and in the US in Nov/Dec 2012, it will count as a 2013 book (in the awards) as they go off the US publishing date.

message 92: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Joanne - There's a LOT of spoiler tags from me too lol

message 93: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6825 comments Mod
Yes a LOT of spoilers from Lynn! Hahaha. And her little excited comments make you REALLY want to read them! I'm almost there though.

message 94: by Lynn, Moderator (new)

Lynn | 4468 comments Mod
Hey, at least I do tell you where I am in the book so you know if you're safe or not to read them!

message 98: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments Hey guys,

I love when I wake up and I see all those great ideas!!!

I'll join on Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (it was on my month for this month), City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare & Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor . Yay!!!

message 99: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments Yes I know the feeling Vanessa. I usually wake up and have to catch-up on the goings-on :)

It is a pretty cool group of books when you look at them together like that!

message 100: by Karen ⊰✿ (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 412 comments @Lynn - Karlee and I have been chatting about reading
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness
as we both missed the discussion when the group did it last month.
I'm not sure of the 'manners' here... Do the mods mind if we set this up and did this as a buddy read even though it has been read already by the group?
(The sequel is starting as a group read next week and not sure that we'll make it, but you never know!)
