I have a few books that I am planning to read sometime in September. If anyone is interesting in joining me in a buddy read of one, please let me know. The books are:

The Next Time You See Me by Holly Goddard Jones The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell Dollbaby by Laura Lane McNeal The Hidden Ones (Legacy of the Watchers, #1) by Nancy Madore

I'm in for The Next Time You See Me - I would only be able to do it early September though.

Virginie - Would you like to plan to read that one the beginning of October?

Lynn - Should I set up a thread for The Next Time You See Me for Sept 1st? Or 5th?

Virginie - Which date works for you for The Hidden Ones? Would you like to start on the 1st or would a little later work better, maybe the 10th?

I think the 10th sounds good.

Kristie | 6841 comments Mod
Sounds good. I'll set up a thread.

Lynn - Can you add The Hidden Ones on Oct. 10 to the calendar when you get a chance? And pick a date for The Next Time You See Me. :)

Lynn | 4472 comments Mod
5th is good with me. I'll put them both on the calender.

That's going to be a hard choice.

Jim Gaffigan makes me laugh so hard my stomach literally hurts after seeing his shows. Hoooooooooooooooooooot Pockets!

I've watched My Drunk Kitchen on YouTube for years. It's hilarious and and Hannah Hart is awesome.

Daily Grace - Again, the YouTube... I have a problem.

I adore B.J. Novak from watching him in the US version of The Office and also from Saving Mr. Banks <3

And then there's the book about wanting to punch people in the throat... I actually just noticed this for the first time. I can relate to this title (on occasion).

Hard choices ahead!

I love Hannah! I've never really got the fascination with Grace though.

Good luck choosing, Ally! At least you have several options, so that if the one you pick doesn't win, you may still want to join the read. :)

Justin (rockstarintraining) Ally, I read Hoooooot Pocket and literally LOLed. Gaffigan rules stand up comedy.

Hi everyone!! We have two different Goodreads Choice Awards winners to read in May, so we have two categories to vote on for our nominee buddy read, as well! The categories this month are Nonfiction and Graphic Novels & Comics. Please click on the links to vote in the polls, but please remember to only vote if you plan to read the book you vote for if it wins. Polls are open!

Also, remember that you can always use this thread to request a buddy read of any book that you'd like to read and discuss with others that we are not already discussing (or have scheduled to discuss) as a group. Happy reading!

Sometimes I vote because I want to read the book . . . whether I end up participating . . . I do always have the best intentions! (So many books, so little time!)

message 750: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 6841 comments Mod
Hi Mary! Buddy reads are books that you want to read, but want someone to read with you. So, you suggest a book that you'd like to read and ask if anyone would like to read it with you. Then, you decide on a date and we open a discussion thread. Anyone can join in the discussion.

We also have our Goodreads Choice Awards buddy reads. For those, we post a poll of all the books that were nominated in a certain genre for the award. Then, anyone interested in reading one of the books can vote for the book they'd like to read. We then open a discussion thread for the winning book and anyone that chooses to participate can discuss.

Our choice awards buddy reads for November are I'll Give You the Sun and (most likely) The Girl with All the Gifts. Discussion threads will be available and anyone is free to join.

If you have another book you'd like to read and discuss, please feel free to request a buddy read in this thread.
