Hi Joe, I absolutely LOVED More Ketchup than Salsa, & it was pretty obvious early into the book that you weren't a mere fish-seller or barman - your writing skills were just too good. Then at the end I read you were a travel journalist, & the penny dropped. When did you hone your skills? Were you a graduate before you became a fish seller, where your opportunities were on hold until after you sold the bar? Or did it come later in life? Cheers, Immy

Hi Immy
Thanks for the kind comments.
I kind of fell into writing. Had no inkling of any penmanship before or during my time in the bar. It was only when we sold that I started tinkering. I used some of the proceeds from the sale to finance a bit of travelling and decided to write about it when I got home. To cut a long story short, an opportunity fell my way and I ended up as a freelance travel writer for The Sunday Times. Since then, I've done nothing but writing and consider myself extremely lucky.

Thanks for getting back to me, Joe. You've given me hope. May your good luck continue. All the very best.
