You should defiantly finish the series if your sitting there wondering if you should.

Do you think the sequels are better than the first?

I am curious, though, to know more about what happens next so I'll probably continue with the series - at least the next book.

me too! The ending made me very curious!

Also.. I just saw in the Q&A that the author had to make the series 3 books instead of 4 so she had to re-write book 3. Anyone know why this is?
Oh wait.. I just read through the Q&A and she answered it:
"I ended up writing 3 books instead of 4 because Harper only bought 3, as at the time I was selling my books, they were buying trilogies, not 4 books at a time, and when I went to sell them the 4th book, they said that paranormal romance was on its way out and they would rather me work on something else. It sucked, but in the end I think it was for the best."
Paranormal Romance is on it's way out??? WHAT THE???? Who knew?

I can understand that statement. Take a look at the books we vote on each month. Isn't there a paranormal romance on almost every single list. It seemed to me that every other book I see is a paranormal romance. I was getting tired of it - and if other readers feel the same way they, too, will start to avoid paranormal romances. I think they've been overdone and some people are avoiding them now instead of being drawn to them.
That's not to say there won't be any more paranormal romances. There just won't be as many of them and, I fervently hope, there will be fewer of the hack type where an author is trying to take advantage of a hot trend. Maybe we'll see more single volume, well written stories that work on multiple levels - not the multi-volume, repetitive stories in which the biggest question is which romantic interest will the heroine choose.

Paranormal romances will definitely not go away entirely and certainly series will never go away especially since people (especially teens and children) love series and they're big business. However, paranormal series were probably overdone when Unearthly first came out (probably pitched in 2010). When Twilight was really big, publishers were more apt to purchase more titles that would pull in the same crowd, but by 2010 The Hunger Games (Mockingjay came out in 2010) and other dystopias were on the rise, so I can see why the publishers were hesitant for a 4th book of a less, popular genre. Although, now that I think of it, many dystopias are trilogies too - maybe the whole YA market is so flooded that only established authors get more than a trilogy.
