It was very, very close, Nicole. Quite the up and down week, as everyone jockeyed for position.

I was thinking the same thing, Lisa! With apologies to my high school English teacher - he's probably rolling over in his grave LOL - we done good :)

Thanks to the mods for another fun round ... but I'm glad it'll be awhile before the next round (if there is one!) starts up again LOL

message 1860: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments No wonder, Barb! I think you read more than three other people!

We must keep in contact, though. Otherwise it will be so quiet when I come to visit GR.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6400 comments Well, we should all rest up until the next Tower Teams challenge. Maybe we can go one or two better next time. Be afraid, Moonstone, be very afraid, LOL.

message 1864: by [deleted user] (new)

Continuing on with the TTRC...

For those of you who want to finish what you started, we are leaving the Tower Team Reading Challenges threads, the "sister group," and Team Home Page Challenges open.

Some of you want to finish your Team Mini Challenges for November; some want to see what they can do towards reaching 1,350 (with or without BAPs); others want to go until the end of the year; and die-hards want to go until April, 2014!

Whatever you decide, as an individual Team or Team Member basis, is completely up to you. Even if you are the only Team Member interested in continuing, we're sure the other Teams will interact with you.

We, the Mods and Captain Paige, will do an informal update once a month.

Whatever you decided, remember to have fun! There will be much less pressure, definitely.

As far as Round III, we do NOT know when it will start, but it will NOT be in January. For the next Team Challenge, the other Mods want to do some type of board game that will last anywhere from one to several months.

message 1872: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments Well done team, I think we did brilliantly moving from that 11th place up to third.

message 1873: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I say we keep taggin our books until we reach our 1350 without BAPs! :)

message 1874: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments I agree, that would be nice.

message 1875: by Barb (last edited Nov 18, 2013 12:59PM) (new)

Barb Count me in too :) It'll be fun to see how long it takes us to get to 1350 books! Are we going to work from the before-BAP number in the current standings?

message 1876: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments I like that idea also. What number did we get up to before the challenge ended, out of curiosity?

Also, Mods, which team is continuing till April 2014??

message 1877: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Not sure, Nicole. You'll have to check the Sunday Update (there is a link to it in the comment from the mods titled FINAL UPDATE above)

message 1878: by [deleted user] (new)

Count me in as well.

I just finished Painted Ladies (Spenser, #39) by Robert B. Parker and now going to start Rough Weather (Spenser, #36) by Robert B. Parker .

message 1879: by Barb (new)

Barb Nicole wrote: "I like that idea also. What number did we get up to before the challenge ended, out of curiosity?"

If you do NOT count the BAPs we earned over the course of the challenge, we read 1017 books. So we still have 333 books to go till we reach the goal of 1350.

message 1880: by Lisa - (Aussie Girl) (last edited Nov 18, 2013 02:36PM) (new)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6400 comments You guys are a team after my own heart. Yes, let's keep on going till we reach our goal! ( Just going to add the book I finished yesterday....)

Done.

message 1881: by Barb (new)

Barb It'll be fun to work toward the goal without any pressure :)

message 1882: by Nicole (new)

We will have a better idea of this by next month's Update, Nichole.

message 1885: by Diane L (new)

Diane L Congrats to our team! I missed the announcement. This was a perfect storm for the round. I was out of town visiting grandchildren when the round started and out of town for a funeral when it ended.

message 1886: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Sorry for your loss, Evana.

message 1887: by Barb (new)

Karla Sorry for your loss, Evana.

message 1889: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I'll echo everyone's sentiments, Evana... I am so sorry for your loss! :(

message 1890: by Diane L (last edited Nov 20, 2013 05:45AM) (new)

Diane L The funeral was for an 89 year old uncle with Alzheimer's. My aunt had taken care of him for 12 years and was going to have to put him in a nursing home on December 3 because she just couldn't do it anymore. There was grief of course but overall it was a celebration of a long life well-lived.

Trickiest part was it put me in northern Illinois on Sunday when all those tornados came through. I couldn't believe it when I walked out of lunch at Cracker Barrel and heard the sirens going off. In November??? The damage was largely west of us with just trees and limbs down where we were.

message 1891: by Barb (new)

Barb Yikes! Thank goodness you missed the tornadoes! They're scary beasts, and I was very glad we never encountered them during the three years we lived in Kansas *shudders*

message 1892: by [deleted user] (new)

Sunday was the worse. I was actually in the middle of the big storm as I live in Illinois. Where I live, we didn't get much damage but a town that is close to us for the people in Illinois go most of the damage. Almost all the town is gone. Us central Illinois people are trying to raise money to help them.

message 1893: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 15159 comments Glad you're safe, too, Nancy Book Lover!

message 1894: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks LK.

message 1895: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments Good that you are both safe. In Denmark we do not have tornados and only sometimes hear about the ones in the States. But these tornados made it to the news as it is obviously unusual to get tornados in autum and they did a lot of damage.

message 1896: by Barb (new)

Barb I forgot that you're in Illinois, Nancy, but I'm glad you're safe! My father-in-law and sister-in-law live in Quincy, IL, but I think they missed all but some wind and rain from those storms.

message 1897: by [deleted user] (new)

That's all we got in Philo, IL was just a lot of wind and lots of rain.
