Nightie Night!

message 202: by Barb (new)

Barb I'd be shaking in my boots if I was wearing boots :)

message 203: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Maybe tomorrow I can tell you more about it. Still have a few details to discuss with LK

Yeah, yeah ... tease us like that, then leave us hanging! *hrmph*

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 775 comments Hey everyone I promise I didn't become a victim of my TBR bookshelves toppling over & hitting me in the head lol. I'm almost finished with my books & I will finish tomorrow....have a good night everyone

message 207: by Barb (new)

Barb I just finished another book, but it doesn't count for our mini challenge :)

The Sign Of The Book (Cliff Janeway, #4) by John Dunning
The Sign Of The Book (Cliff Janeway #4), by John Dunning ★★★★

Now to figure out what's up next!

**hee hee**

message 209: by Barb (new)

Barb Wow, we got awfully quiet all of a sudden! I hope that means everybody's busy reading?

message 210: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I was thinking that too!

I've had a humdinger of a week at work... An been trying to super-read! :)

message 211: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm not reading. But I am working on something to make people read - does that count?

message 212: by Barb (new)

Barb Hmmmm ... maybe?

message 213: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments You will love it! I'm sure of that. You liked all my wicked inventions on the A-Team's thread :o)

message 214: by Barb (new)

Barb LOL Since you're not on our team, I suppose we should be excited about *anything that keeps you from reading, right? *evil grin*

message 215: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Barb, I have 9 books currently reading, around 70% done each. When the dust from the round II go-live settles and I start playing catch up... well, I don't need to finish the phrase, do I?

message 216: by Barb (new)

Barb Nope, not at all :)

message 217: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments *whispers*
Blue is not the color to be worried about right now.

Off to bed... awful late...again!

message 218: by Barb (new)

Barb Yeah, I noticed that. I'm reading as fast as I can!

message 219: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I can read two books at once, but OMG 9 books at once? Girl you CRAY CRAY!!!

message 220: by Barb (new)

Barb Steven wrote: "I also had an author contact me about a book I added to my to-read, and he gave me a free copy as long as I reviewed it. NICE! :D My pile is huge, but that was kind so I'll bump it up. Hopefully it's long enough to count, but if not, I will read it anyways. Authors need the exposure and feedback!"

How cool is that? I just found out that I'm getting an ARC from one of the book newsletters that I subscribe to, so I'm going to have to work that into my reading plan for the next month or so. GR doesn't have the book cover OR any info about it, but (from amazon) isn't this cover beauteous? The Good Luck Girls of Shipwreck Lane

message 221: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I'd love to go to that cliffside and stare at the ocean and read a while :)

message 222: by Barb (new)

Barb I'd probably be too distracted to read LOL I'd have to move a bit farther inland, so I could still *hear the ocean, but not necessarily see it :)

I *just finished another book for our team shelf, Aunt Dimity and the Lost Prince. Next up will probably be The Ashford Affair, another new release that just came in for me at the library. Going to work is getting dangerous!!

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Steven wrote: "I can read two books at once, but OMG 9 books at once? Girl you CRAY CRAY!!!"

*snort* That made me laugh out loud.

She's not the "Book Wielding Harpy" for nothing, I guess! lol

I cannot wait for Sonia to finish those books! We need numbers on our little team haha.

message 224: by Karla (new)

Karla Kayla and I are going out of town for our Grandpa's funeral, so we won't be on here all weekend. The trip is at least six hours and both of us can read in the car. Since neither of us will be driving, we will be able to make a dent in our books.

message 225: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Oh, Karla and Kayla, I am SO sorry for your loss. Please travel safe, and focus on family and greaving and don't worry about this challenge. We'll be thinking of you!!!

message 226: by Barb (new)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 775 comments I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Safe journey for u both

message 230: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't been reading as much as i should because of school, but i try to get as much reading in before i head to bed at night.

We are currently 4 books behind the leader. Keep up the good work Mango Tango and Happy Friday and have a safe weekend.

message 231: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Nancy, it's a slow and steady pace to win... we've still got 1320 books to read! Our rank will drop and rise a lot, I think. :D

message 232: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments But we're doing awesome!!!

message 233: by [deleted user] (new)

Steven wrote: "Nancy, it's a slow and steady pace to win... we've still got 1320 books to read! Our rank will drop and rise a lot, I think. :D"

I know that. I just wanted to keep everyone informed. sorry.

message 234: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Oh, I didn't take it bad... sorry if I implied that!

I was just reminding everyone not to worry too much now. We're doing really well, and staying in the top few teams!!! Plus, all this AND we have people with real life stuff slowing them down... just think once all that clears up!!!

We've barely scratched the surface on this challenge, but we're already proving that we're a fighting team!!!

message 235: by Karla (new)

Karla Thank you everyone for your kind words. They mean a lot! I didn't write the message to get sympathy, I was just explaining why we would be MIA for the weekend. The reading will help us keep our minds off of why we are going.

Thanks again!

message 239: by Sonia (new)

Steven and other Mango Tangoians, good news for you here !

message 242: by Barb (new)

Barb My mind is still trying to process the mods' read-a-thon, Steven, but I'll try to get some prep stuff posted over the weekend. At least they gave us plenty of time to prepare!

@Sonia: You guys sure cooked up a whopper :) We just have to figure out how to make it fit our team so we can call it a success when it's all said and done!

message 243: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I think we can do it!!!

message 244: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments Karla and Kayla: I am sorry for your loss. Remember the good times. It is many years since I lost all my grandparents but I still think about all the lovely holidays spent with them.

message 245: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Okay, everyone. It's time to start preparing for the Mod's Challenge Read-a-thon!

We need to see how many people are interested in participating, and we also need you guys to start brainstorming ideas for the THEME and also for the MINI-CHALLENGE/GAME idea. If you haven't read the rules and stuff, please scroll up to message 242 with the giant mailbox picture and follow the link to the new read-a-thon rules. We need reading mini-challenge ideas as well as non-reading ones (see that thread for ideas) so we can submit them when the game starts. We want everyone's input so we can have lots of ideas!!!

Now, Barb said Sonia posted a picture of mangoes in their different stages of ripeness somewhere. I haven't seen that. So if I find it, I'll post it, and if not, Barb will post it when she comes back around. We can use this photo to keep colors in mind for the bookcover/team color part of the challenge (kind of unfairly balanced there, the blue teams are probably going to have an easier time than us orangey colored team members!!!)

Anyways, start posting ideas and participation interest in the Our Mini-Challenge and RAT thread.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Steven, since I'm your resident stalker I saw that you inquired about the mango picture. It's in the thread all about the Read-a-Thon (the one the mods created), but here's the picture, plus what Sonia said: "You can go from yellowish to orange, green and red."

Hey, this is pretty much a mango tango cover right here: An Abundance of Katherines by John Green !

Listopia ideas: Hot-Hued Covers

Yellow-Orange Covers

A list of listopias with red covers

A list of Orange Covers (there's even a list there called 'fruit salad', hehe)

Green Cover Lists

message 247: by Diane L (new)

Diane L For the mini-challenge with no reading we could do something to do with book-movie ties. Like having people list a great book with a great movie adaptation, great book with a terrible movie adaptation, or a great movie they wish had a terrific book behind it (either not based on a book or the book was so-so).

message 248: by Barb (new)

Barb We might want to keep our non-reading challenge/game ideas to ourselves :) I *think we only get points if they USE our idea during the RaT, but I could have misunderstood that part. If you have an idea for this, how about if you send a PM to Steven, Evana or me instead of posting a great idea here for another team to 'steal'? :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 775 comments hey everyone - I dont know that I will have the time to participate in the RaT...with that being said the reason is that Hubby & I are headed to Indy early in the morning - Hubby is having heart issues & is slated for surgery on Monday morning @ 8:30am EST that is the reason for the drive up tomorrow...since I do the driving everywhere we go my reading is nil while driving - although I have seen lots do it Im just not keen on the idea of trying to read & drive at the same time lol

I plan to read some on Sun night & Mon while he is in surgery - we are hoping that the Dr will be able to do the stints if not it will be open heart surgery if he is a candidate for that....we will not know that until Monday morning....hes already had a quad bi in 97 so we are hoping that the stints will work although they did not work then..the man cant do anything the easy way...but then again neither can I lol

I will try to keep in touch via the iPhone & the iPad....good luck to my fellow Mangotango team

message 250: by Barb (new)

Barb Hope the surgery and his recovery go well! We'll be thinking of you both.

If it makes any difference, Sallie, the RaT doesn't start until May 1. Maybe by then things will have calmed down enough that you'll have a bit more time for reading?
