It wasn't a book, but I liked how the movie Daybreakers approached vampires. Though, a planet full of vampires was kinda stupid, but it did lead to what would happen if they didn't drink blood. That part I loved.
Meh.
Search "Blood+" and "Hellsing"

Interview with a Vampire - but I preferred the movie to the book (sorry Anne Rice!). I also LOVE the vampires in the Vampire Twins books by Janice Harrell.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/66...Bram Stoker's Dracula closely followed by Lestat and Louis from Interview with a Vampire. I love those old old historical tales of vampirisim
Dracula, followed by King's Salem's Lot. Vampires are monsters, creatures of the night that prey on humans. We're cattle to them. That's the only way they should be portrayed.

I loved that movie! :)

I really liked the vampires in the Skulduggery books! anyone else? they're not like other vampires, these are feral creatures who kill anything in sight!!!
The Mortal Instruments and Blood of Eden series have my favorite protrayal of vampires.Dracula is good also.
The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda is my favorite portrayal of vampires by far. The story takes place from the stand point that vampires are the normal people and humans are the different creatures. I find it truly fasinating. (:

Dracula, definitely. And more recently, Kirsy Eagar's Saltwater Vampires in which some renegade vamps are trying to use a coastal town's rock festival to get a huge hit of power and even the vampire's guild in Amsterdam is after these ones. Oh, and Terry Pratchett's send up of modern vampire novels, Carpe Jugulum.
It's a toss-up between the scientifically plausible ones in The Hunger and The Last Vampire, and Rudy Pasko, the nihilist/punk vampire in The Light at the End. At least they're real vampires, and not mislabeled faeries.

Olivia wrote: "are even still real at all? "They drink human blood. They don't sparkle in the sun. That makes them real vampires.
- Interview with the Vampire, I've only watched the movie(shame on me), but I loved seeing how cruel and bloodthirsty the vampires were. And yes to Hellsing!

Fave co portrayal in print: Southern Vampire Mysteries (even better on TV as True Blood). Another TV Fave has to be Joss Whedon's vamps in Buffy & Angel.
I like the way they're portrayed in the 'Monster Hunter' series. Vampires should be evil, powerful and intelligent.I really hate the sissy affectionate vampires!
I just wish Anne Rice never introduced the idea of vampire covens, which Stephenie Meyer then picked up and ran with. I've always understood covens to be, by definition, groups of witches. Why couldn't Rice (and Meyer) have used "clans" or "groups"? And I liked the use of "nests" in Buffy and Angel.
I like the way that vampires are portrayed in Sunshine, The Greyfriar, and The Fallen Blade because they're each different in their own way. Each of them stretch the "can't go out in the sun" legend. In Sunshine certain vampires can stand non-direct sunlight. In The Greyfriar the vampires are sensitive to the heat rather than the sun and the heat makes them weak. In The Fallen Blade the vampires aren't specifically called vampires and they're able to go into the sunlight if they use certain countermeasures. Also, Fang Girl is a hilarious vampire book in which all the vampires are OCD and they become increasingly OCD as they get older.

Twilight vampires and Anne Rice's vampires are my favorites.I enjoy the scary underworld-type of vampires as well, but much much less.

Vampire Academy and Bloodlines, both series by Richelle Mead. I love the ideas she created with vampires, and was so happy when she made Bloodlines a spin-off series.

Since there are no vampires in Twilight, you both need to fix your replies.

We're on the twilight boards, it is understandable to have twilight fans every now and then.

I wasn't asking for your opinion. There's no need to be snotty.

Sorry, I wasn't intending to be. I just found it odd that people don't expect anyone to answer twilight vampires, since we're on the twilight boards.
You were sharing your view and I was sharing mine.
