Brynne My favourite way vampires are portrayed is in The Mortal Instruments Series!! How about yours?

message 2: by Deliriate (last edited Mar 28, 2013 09:19PM) (new) - rated it 1 star

Deliriate It wasn't a book, but I liked how the movie Daybreakers approached vampires.

Though, a planet full of vampires was kinda stupid, but it did lead to what would happen if they didn't drink blood. That part I loved.

Amber Let The Right One In

Best vamp book I have ever read.

Meh.

Search "Blood+" and "Hellsing"

Ingrid Jonach Interview with a Vampire - but I preferred the movie to the book (sorry Anne Rice!). I also LOVE the vampires in the Vampire Twins books by Janice Harrell.

Bram Stoker's Dracula closely followed by Lestat and Louis from Interview with a Vampire. I love those old old historical tales of vampirisim

Michael Dracula, followed by King's Salem's Lot. Vampires are monsters, creatures of the night that prey on humans. We're cattle to them. That's the only way they should be portrayed.

agree! they are the best, especially Simon:DD

Bookaholic Vampire Academy! Dimitri and Adrian, Swooon! :P

Olivia Quinn I really liked the vampires in the Skulduggery books! anyone else? they're not like other vampires, these are feral creatures who kill anything in sight!!!

Nicole D. The Mortal Instruments and Blood of Eden series have my favorite protrayal of vampires.Dracula is good also.

Mandy Moreschi The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda is my favorite portrayal of vampires by far. The story takes place from the stand point that vampires are the normal people and humans are the different creatures. I find it truly fasinating. (:

Halle Bookaholic wrote: "Vampire Academy! Dimitri and Adrian, Swooon! :P"

That's what I'm saying. Vampire Academy and Bloodlines. Allow me a few moments to fangirl, please. You understand, of course.

message 17: by Sue (new) - rated it 2 stars

Sue Bursztynski Dracula, definitely. And more recently, Kirsy Eagar's Saltwater Vampires in which some renegade vamps are trying to use a coastal town's rock festival to get a huge hit of power and even the vampire's guild in Amsterdam is after these ones. Oh, and Terry Pratchett's send up of modern vampire novels, Carpe Jugulum.

Missyb Night Huntress by Frost
Argeneau by Sands makes me laugh the most

message 19: by Bill (new) - rated it 1 star

Bill Golden It's a toss-up between the scientifically plausible ones in The Hunger and The Last Vampire, and Rudy Pasko, the nihilist/punk vampire in The Light at the End. At least they're real vampires, and not mislabeled faeries.

Bill Golden Olivia wrote: "are even still real at all? "

They drink human blood. They don't sparkle in the sun. That makes them real vampires.

mountaingoat - Interview with the Vampire, I've only watched the movie(shame on me), but I loved seeing how cruel and bloodthirsty the vampires were. And yes to Hellsing!

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP Blood ninja by nick lake. It is one of the best vampire books I read

Missyb as long as they don't sparkle, I'm good.

Lindsay Carpenter Dracula, Interview with a Vampire, and the Southern Vampire Mysteries.

Aseel The house of night series. followed by the twilight saga

Carla Brown The Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton

Zaryna Brynne wrote: "My favourite way vampires are portrayed is in The Mortal Instruments Series!! How about yours?"

Yep defiantly The Mortal Instruments! :)

Janese Jackson Fave co portrayal in print: Southern Vampire Mysteries (even better on TV as True Blood). Another TV Fave has to be Joss Whedon's vamps in Buffy & Angel.

message 30: by Hamed (last edited Mar 31, 2013 12:24AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Hamed Momeni I like the way they're portrayed in the 'Monster Hunter' series. Vampires should be evil, powerful and intelligent.

I really hate the sissy affectionate vampires!

Mirkat I just wish Anne Rice never introduced the idea of vampire covens, which Stephenie Meyer then picked up and ran with. I've always understood covens to be, by definition, groups of witches. Why couldn't Rice (and Meyer) have used "clans" or "groups"? And I liked the use of "nests" in Buffy and Angel.

Chiasmintalia I like the way that vampires are portrayed in Sunshine, The Greyfriar, and The Fallen Blade because they're each different in their own way. Each of them stretch the "can't go out in the sun" legend. In Sunshine certain vampires can stand non-direct sunlight. In The Greyfriar the vampires are sensitive to the heat rather than the sun and the heat makes them weak. In The Fallen Blade the vampires aren't specifically called vampires and they're able to go into the sunlight if they use certain countermeasures.

Also, Fang Girl is a hilarious vampire book in which all the vampires are OCD and they become increasingly OCD as they get older.

Ray (warrior of randomness) XP What about the vampires on the chronicles of Vladimir Todd? I thought they were awesome.XD

Theresa I love the 'Argeneau" vampires from Atlantis.

Brynne Janese wrote: "Fave co portrayal in print: Southern Vampire Mysteries (even better on TV as True Blood). Another TV Fave has to be Joss Whedon's vamps in Buffy & Angel."

I agree with you on the Buffy and Angel Series'!!! I love the way that the vampires are portrayed!!!!

Diane Twilight vampires and Anne Rice's vampires are my favorites.

I enjoy the scary underworld-type of vampires as well, but much much less.

Diane Theresa wrote: "I love the 'Argeneau" vampires from Atlantis."

You mean the books by Lynsay Sands, right? :)

Haidi Ive enjoyed the image that Justin Cronin creates in his books The Passage and The Twelve.

Giselle Not a book but a movie.
Van Helsing

Chloe Fandom Queen The Morganville Vampires will ALWAYS be my favourite Vampire series!!!!!

SophiAnn Vampire Academy and Bloodlines, both series by Richelle Mead. I love the ideas she created with vampires, and was so happy when she made Bloodlines a spin-off series.

Grace Twilight totally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since there are no vampires in Twilight, you both need to fix your replies.

Sorry, I wasn't intending to be. I just found it odd that people don't expect anyone to answer twilight vampires, since we're on the twilight boards.
