Okay, okay, I realize I give a lot of the books I read five stars, but what can I say, I love every one of them. Maybe it's because I pick really great books or my friends recommend them to me. Either way, I give this one 5 stars as well.
The pretense was not what I expected, in a good way. I expected the vampires to be nice....uh...NO.
I expected the residents in the Glass House to be vampires....uh.....NO.
I expected Claire to have special abilities.....uh.....NO.

Glass Houses

The Morganville Vampires is one of those series that everyone has been obsessing over for years, so I was of course a bit wary to read Glass Houses. I didn’t want to be let down after all of the hype surrounding the series made me so excited to read it. But once I got that final push, I started Glass Houses and as each page was turned, I liked it more and more.

Glass Houses is more what I would consider new adult instead of young adult. Though the main character is only sixteen, the r

4/5 stars.

Okay so this book started off as a 2/5 stars, but slowly reached a 4 stars. That's pretty impressive, but I'm determined to give this series a go as a friend of mine gave all of her copies to me for free.

Claire is the worst protag for the first bit, but finally develops a personality by the second book (I read a '2 in 1' Volume).

I honestly believed Michael was going to be Claire's love interest, so I have a bit of underlying di
I love Rachel Caine! Her books are like brain candy. I
gobble them up and can't get my fill! Perfect beach reads. I love the characters. I can't wait to spend 13 more books with them! I don't understand how I'm so late coming to this series. It's paranormal with vampires in Texas and a brainy girl facing off with all the supernatural I adore! So much happens and I'm always on the edge of my seat holding my breath! And the endings. Cliffhangers that make me grab the next book. The books are smooth

I was immediately attracted by this book. Somehow, I feel connected to the protagonist, Claire Danvers because of her geeky (and a little bit nerdy) style. I'd also like to compliment the cover - it's really eye-catching

Rachel is really good at delivering the story, because she makes me feel the anger, worries and fear of the characters in the story. The characters are well-developed and I can get an exact idea of their personalities. You will find out that you must keep on reading to unravel th

I actually never heard of the MORGANVILLE VAMPIRES before, and I picked up this book because, honestly, I liked the cover. It was pretty and a little mysterious and dark and I knew it obviously had something to do with vampires.

I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first and I was glad when I had the first two books in one, because I really did like it. Claire is smart, Eve is funny, Shane is the tough guy, and Michael is basically the head of it all, and they all connect so well together, it

So, I was totally srprised by how much I LOVED these books! I checked them out of my library warily because I've been so burned out on vampires after the recent craze in YA books. I didn't read these when they first came out, so I figured I would give them a shot. I am SO GLAD that I did! These books are really funny and smart, they have romance AND action both (LOTS of both!) so they could appeal to many different people. I was surprised how real the characters seemed to me. I like that Claire ...more

I really liked the title of this book, in relation to the story, the first book in the kick vampire butt , series. It had a couple meanings, you will have to read the book to find out.

I pretty much avoid sparkly vampire stories. I’ve never read Twilight, and have not seen the movies. I am only vaguely familiar with Anne Rice’s stuff. I have been “self-sheltered” from fantasy vampire fiction. When I seen that Penguin Books (NAL Trade) was going to do a re-release of Rachel Caine’s The Morganville Vampires in a 2 in 1 format….. I asked for a copy. I wanted to get a feel for this whole area of fantasy I’ve had no clue about. As a reviewer I felt somewhat obligated to at least tr ...more
The Morganville vampire series is a group of books that I have heard of very often. While at times my interest did gravitate towards the books from time to time, the story just never seemed to grab me enough to buy it. However, the omnibus edition collecting the first two books was on sale at Wallmart. I couldn't lose unless the book was really bad. Like Once Dead, Twice Shy bad. Thankfully that was the case.

The first two books in the series are called The Glass House and Dead Girl Dance, which
Oh, vampires. It sounds cliche nowadays, doesn't it? Well, this book puts a whole new perspective to vampires. Sure, it has the usual things with them; bloodsucking, burning in sunlight, holy water, crosses, silver, etc. But I thought it was cool how they made a contract with someone that binds them to that vampire forever, or until they say so. They have to abide by their rules, who to marry, when to get married, if you can have children or not. It's pretty intense if you ask moi. I know it's w ...more

I wanted to like this one. I really did. It seemed like it was made for me. Morganville? Morgan? You can't ignore the connection. But sadly I was disappointed.

The volume I read was an omnibus of the first two books. I wish I just would've bought the first one. The series is about Claire Danvers, a 16 yr old student living in the college town of Morganville. She moves into the Glass House, but not all her roommates might be living. She soon finds out that Morganville is no ordinary college town,
The story takes place in a Texas small town Morganville, unbeknownst to outsiders, the town was secretly ran by vampires and humans were treated as second class citizens and bloodbank on two legs. The heroine Claire was a very smart 16 years old girl leaving home to study in an university next to Morganville, only to find herself the easy target of school bullies and worse, she was also being dragged into the troubles between vampires and humans in town. Luckily she wasn’t alone, Claire found he ...more

So, the only thing that bugged me about this was Eve, who i adored to begin with and then im not clear on if it was the end of the glass house or at the start of dead girls dance she really started to irritate me. I mean okay Eve, you're all head over heels for Michael but you go all bitch on him making comments that are even worse than hitting below the belt, nevermind the fact that its NOT HIS FAULT. Helloo psycho emo goth bitch. I'm hoping she got all that out of her system because if i see m ...more

Ohhhh my gosh this book had me pulling out my hair. I don't bash books or authors because I don't have a talent for writing so I read.. But this book was really really really and I mean really lame. If your bored and you don't have anything better to read then pick up this book but if you have something better around you then don't. I got tired of Claire fast. All you hear is about how smart she is blah blah blah. The little kid was always in some kind of trouble or opening her mouth when she sh ...more

Glass House:
Vampires are real, and a lot of them live in Morganville, Texas. Claire Danvers is a sixteen year old college freshmen, and after getting tired of being bullied all the time, she seeks out a place to live off campus, stumbling across the Glass house. In this book, history unravels itself in front Claire and her new roommates, Michael Glass, Eve Rosser, and Shane Collins. This first book of the Morganville Vampires series is definitely an eye catcher and will have you begging more.

I finished the first half today...(since this book has the first two books combined). It started out a bit slow and rough. I had to make myself keep reading through the first couple of chapters as it took some time to get my bearings in the story, figure out the key characters, and the basic backdrop for the series. But I am glad I did! I am intrigued by the idea of a whole town basically run by vampires, the different factions of vampires, and how a human survives (or doesn't) in this small str ...more

The best thing about this book (these books?) is that it deviates from all the common plot points that are becoming normal parts of so many YA books nowadays--there're no love triangles, a completely different take on vampires, and a dangerously mysterious town with a frightening hierarchy of species. Although Claire is a new type of protagonist, a bookish sixteen-year-old genius who's already a freshman in college, she definitely has pluck and a protective loyalty towards her friends and famil ...more

The Morganville Vampires Vol. 1 is an interesting vampire story when you compare it to other vampire stories that's out on the market - for example Twilight. I like the plot, the fact that the vampires are the bad ones, and that the pack of human main characters that we're following are quite resourseful.

On the contrairy, I find the love story on the side a bit too cheesy (which is captivated quite well for teenagers though) which doesn't bother me too much. But, the language of Caine is a bit

I feel like it could have been better. Clair's kind of annoying, I want to punch Monica and how is the second part (2nd book) titled the dead girls dance when that stupid frat party was only 1 chapter of the book. I hope they get better or I may have to abandon the series, which I absolutely hate doing.
