More like scary.
Amazon ran off every author that ever posted in their forums.

"3. Amazon supports us continuing to grow our vision as an independent entity, under the Goodreads brand and with our unique culture."
Not sure I've ever seen that work out as planned
So if I log on goodreads using my nook hd tablet... it might explode???
Lol. I have nothing against Amazon as a whole. But I hate the way everything is turning online now. I love my ereaders (I have a kindle too) but I still mourn for bookstores. And now its happening to other retailers too.

The more I hear about them I am too to be honest. I haven't had much to do with Amazon. But I don't like the idea of content on this site being censored in any way. Goodreads works the way it does because it is ran and for readers. Amazon are not readers - they are sellers. Not sure how this will balance out. Hopefully just annoying ads like the ones I already ignore.
I also have to wonder how much control will they get. Will it stop at books, personal libraries, and reviews. Or will Amazon have a say on how the separate clubs are ran? I would think not... but who knows?

I'm a nook reader too. And I use my nook tablet on goodreads a lot. I hope there's no blackout for us. Or penalty.
You vill be rounded up und moved to a ghetto next to ein authors. Amazon does nicht like authors und those who use ein Nooks!
Violators vill be shut!
Sieg Heil!

Astoundingly casual way to put the matter. Its like the guy falling out of a skyscraper: "Well, okay so far..."

Comparing Amazon to Gutenberg is kinda like comparing Al Gore to Nikola Tesla.

I'm all for relaxing and watching what happens, but after seeing what happened on the Amazon Forums while I did is not something I want to see repeated here.
Authors and readers make this site great.
Trolls and lunatics belong on Facebook.

I don't think comparing handwriting to print vs print to e-ink is much of a stretch but I could be wrong. At the very least, the speed of the trend seems comparable.
Gutenberg and Tesla's motives were a far cry from Amazon's and Al Gore's.......

You KNOW I would have showed up to get your back. :)

Granted.

Hopefully they will just leave GR alone, other than making an "import purchase from Amazon" capability. That would be nice. It's one of the things I like about Shelfari. Probably the only thing, really.

That was a while ago, Charlene.
It happened in the Horror Forum.
I know you would, but I didn't know you then. It was just Kealan, spacemonkey, Horror Queen and me.
Next thing we know, it's TrollFest.

Indeed.
And history has this ugly habit of repeating itself.

That is, until it's time to call Jon to load the shotguns and circle the proverbial wagons! LOL.
Fingers crossed everyone!

Trysts, blackmail and murder.
A death row inmate drops a last-minute hint to the inspector about an unsolved murder that happened six years ago. Maigret follows up on the meager hint and finds himself in the middle of a web of trysts, blackmail and murder.
4 STARS
I got a reply from Amazon that my review could not be posted there citing:
Objectionable material:
• Obscene or distasteful content
• Profanity or spiteful remarks
• Promotion of illegal or immoral conduct
ITS A FUCKING MURDER MYSTERY! WHAT THE HELL!
Is this kind of censorship that we have to look forward to when Amazon takes over here?
????
Who monitors the reviews anyway? Are there words and phrases that get automatically flagged? That's my best guess. I honestly see nothing that should have triggered a response.

That is a significant bad omen. Now I'm prematurely bummed out.
