I somehow pictured a creeping mass trying to download itself onto my computer. If they were to succeed, the keyboard would refuse any input other than a predetermined list of acceptable words and responses.
Then I realized that it was merely an allergic reaction to the thought of mold, mildew and/or dust causing a hallucination. So I used some homeopathic drops and I'm feeling much better now.

Oh! You wouldn't have hurt them. I was trying to keep them from rising up and attacking you.

Are we on Discussion One or Discussion Two?
Is mildew involved or was it the thwarted monkey attack?

Yet you were the one to bring up the rats. I never would have, you know. "Ben" scarred me for life, and I only ever saw the promo scenes.
Use a mop or towel to wipe surfaces dry. Or turn on a fan. There was a pack of monkeys calling for an attack on you for the insult to their intelligence. That was forestalled when your edited post diverged onto the Road to Mildew.
Did I miss anything? Or were those homeopathic drops laced with some of your vodka?? You know I don't drink alcohol. Yet.
ETA: Hmmm...it is used as a binder. Someone must've had too heavy a hand in that batch.

You're silly.
I enjoy being silly with you.

No one ever sends me hugs. Maybe it's the weird facial hair.

I prefer atmosphere to graphic descriptions or depictions. Imagery from a well-crafted turn of phrase that lingers long after the experience has ended.
Visuals with a heavy emphasis on shock value tend to either bore me or cause revulsion.
I don't know you well enough to hug you, yet.

Crispen Glover scares me!

A classic!"
Wow, whenever I feel like I am socially awkward and don't relate well to other people I'll re-watch that and feel much better about myself.

Here he is on Johnny Carson and he looks genuine but nervous. Of course Carson treated his guests with respect and would go out of his way to make them comfortable. If Carson felt that they could take a little friendly ribbing and mocking, he'd do it. But he always knew when to pull back.

Whatever happened to Glover? He was a weirdo in River's Edge.
Never bothered with Crispin Glover. Didn't tend to watch movies he turned up in, other than the first "Back to the Future." And just seeing a small part of the Letterman Show appearance was more than enough. Either drugs or behaving in an extremely affectatious manner. Turn off either way.
In the Tonight Show appearance, Glover just seemed to be very nervous and uncomfortable with being in public. May be shy. May be chemicals. Neither of which would be unusual for someone in the acting profession.
Back when I used to watch talk show interviews, many performers just really weren't that interesting as themselves. And that was fine, as long as they were good in their roles. Some were so distracting -- as was this guy -- where the personality made such a strong negative impression that I didn't bother to watch anything they showed up on. One person's quirky is another person's bore.

Completely agree with you, Tressa.
Robin Williams was a stand-out in the negative column for me.

Back on topic with the off-topic. Has anyone actually seen or heard more about the potential impact for those who use GR? Readers, authors, forum posters?
Has anyone who uses this site noticed any changes?

Do you ever go to the Goodreads Feedback group? There is probably some good info. there.

Amazon deletes posts with the word "idiot" in them.
Like yours. And mine.
They don't care what's said in reviews.

Yup. I remember my first "Deleted by Amazon" post. It had the word "idiot" in it. It was deleted per their admonition to not attack other posters.
One little ole logic failure in this particular case. I was calling myself an idiot. With my name in that post. There were no other posters named Mary on the thread.
"...Clowns to the left of me/Jokers to the right..."
ETA: Yet there remained some posts, more than a year or so after the fact that did have the dreaded "i" word in them. Which always made me wonder at the parameters for a sweep. Bots are automatic, but they're programmed by humans.

I actually did complete it. But then I did delete it.
That song was always a favorite of mine, simply for those lyrics.

I can't stand how Amazon doesn't allow ratings only. Most reviews are either fans (or family) of the author, or those who hated it. I think less readers review 3 star books. And that messes with a book's average.
Also, I see Amazon as a site designed to sell books. Goodreads is a site for readers by readers. That's what I hope doesn't change.

I will never hear that song again without thinking of that movie."
And the song is stuck back in my brain yet again. I'm gonna go grab a straight razor and do a little dance.
"I got a feeling` that something ain't right..."
And here I was, trying to behave myself.
For a change...
