Buddy Read for When She Woke
I'd like to join you. I will make it my "J" alphabet read. Which means I have four books to read before getting to Hillary Jordan, so don't start tomorrow!!!
I've just got my copy for kindle so I'm set. I don't mind when we start. I am taking part in the April monthly challenge reading a Stephen King book. Unfortunatly I can't incorporate it into my alphabet as I'm a LONG way off W but as I'm pausing my alphabet for the Stephen King book, I can add this one in too.
I've not long read The Handmaid's Tale so it will be interesting to see how When She Woke compares to it - I know it has bee likened to it.
I think I'd like to read this. Let me try to get it from my library and I'll see when it comes in. Please let me know when you decide on a start date.
if i can get this from the bookstore in time- i would like to join in as well- it will depend on the start date-i will order it on monday but it sometimes takes up to a week for the books to come in :(
I need to get a copy, also. I'm going to check at my library the first part of the week because I would like to borrow it if possible.
Perhaps we could set a start date for mid April then to allow everyone time for book sourcing? Or we could wait until after the Toppler if people are doing that?
So, if we are going to do it mid April, do I need to take it off of my toppler list so it does not get chosen?
I have this book on my kindle and would love to join. I've never done a Buddy Read- no time like the present I guess.
A buddy read is a book that a group of interested people read together. A group can be 2 or more people, and the structure is up to the group. I like to discuss the book, not just read it together, so I'm hoping we'll have good discussion with this book. It sounds like it will generate lots of great discussion.
Looking forward to starting it - there's quite a few of us down to read it so I think there will be plenty of discussion. Is there a standard pace that we should be reading it at with a buddy read? (It's my first one too!)
No standard pace. Just read and discuss as you can. We'll ask that people mark their spoilers just in case someone hasn't completed the book.
I hope to start in about two days. I am nearly finished with both my Toppler book (unfortunately didn't finish it in the allotted time) and my Stephen King book, then it's on to When She Woke.
Woohoo! I think if everyone starts reading this week, we'll be off and running.I will likely start tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on when I finish reading my Toppler left over.
I will be picking it up from the library tomorrow and will start reading right away. Looking forward to reading and discussing it.
I will start as soon as I finish my book for the Who Said That challenge. I am almost done. My 2nd book for the toppler will have to wait to get finished.
I'm on page 106, 30% in and really enjoying it. There's no obvious path as to where this story may lead us at the moment (well I don't think so anyway) but it definitely has me intrigued enough to keep
I don't want to stop reading today, I keep cleaning, then take a break to read and have to tell myself "AMY!! Get your stuff done so you can read all afternoon!
I'm at 75 now, put it down to finish the dishes. Sooooo many topics that could be discussed in this book so far!
Oh just wait until you get further, freaky situation she ends up in!Page 111, 32% in - (view spoiler)
I am 20% into the book and it definately has my attention. I am trying to decide how little sleep I need tonight so I can figure out how long I can read.

I just got there...freaky...creepy...lots of adjectives work.
Page 184, 53%It's 10 past midnight and I really should get to sleep as I have work tomorrow but I want to keep reading!

I couldn't stand waiting, after the comments here. I set my other book aside and have started the Buddy Read. Will just have to find a different book for my Alphabet!☻
i'm enjoying this one too- I've finished part 1 so i'm on page 67- looking forward to reading more tonight and can't wait to discuss it with all of you!
Part four, page 221, 63% ....... despite not wanting to I feel my eyes getting heavier, time for sleep. You just don't know where this book is going to take you at all, getting really interesting now!

Lynn and Marnie.....I finished that part. I had to stop because my son absconded with my Ipad. Seriously gave me something to think about this afternoon though. The book has given me LOTS to think about today. Lynn its going to make you crazy not talking about it until we catch up...go to sleep!!!
Janice...I want to keep reading this book more than I did Gone Girl, and I didn't want to put that one down either.
I did go to sleep, as you said I need to talk about it! I have a busy day today, work and then choir practice so won't get as much reading done. Hopefully some of you will catch up with me
OK now I'm really intrigued and want to get reading. Only 50 or so pages left of my current book so should start this one this evening. Can't wait - shame I have to go to work today!
I started reading it last night at 10:30 and turned the light out at 1:00. I even dreamt about it! Yes, this is going to be a good one.
Part 5, Page 287, 82% - So many twists and turns that keep me swiping those pages (even while I'm at work, naughty Lynn!) but there is finally one that didn't quite feel right. (view spoiler)
Got interrupted at page 12 last night, and am no further. Have some errands to run today. Can hardly wait to get back home. Twelve pages and I am already hooked.(view spoiler)
(only if you've gotten past page 12)
