I made the same realization as Scott. I got excited that it was voting time, but after I poked around a bit I found that I hadn't really read anything that was newly released this year. Oh well, better luck next year! (x

I FELT like I've been reading tons of new books this year, and I have, but I think they were all in SF or Fantasy. So I wasn't really equipped to vote in many categories either. Oh well. The Fantasy category was a tough call for me too - several of the books were outstanding. It's been a good year.
I hadn't read a single book that came out in 2015...I've read 47 books this year so far, but not one that came out in 2015.
Seems a bit silly to vote if you haven't read the books.

Scott wrote: "Anyone grab Fallout 4 yet? Game just fucked all my reading plans for the near future"I am debating getting it - I just got Halo 5 and pre-ordered Star Wars Battlefront which comes out in a few days. I haven't seriously played any games in a while, so this is a lot of games at once for me. I played the hell out of the first Fallout, but haven't played any since. Also, I can't make up my mind if I want to get these games on Xbone, PC, or Xbone and stream to my PC. Argh!
Yeah I've been pretty light on gaming this year and now I'm apparently making up for lost time haha. It's really well done, lots of stuff to do and get lost in.
I've been playing some Fallout 4 - its sure fun so far - and it makes me wish I didn't have to work so many hours. Ah well - December is coming and I can tell myself I'll have more time!
Yes. They've changed a few things. Teal hyperlinks on the groups page, bold black on the updates page, new fonts (checkout the lazy ? mark) and removal of gradients for speed of loading.
Someone at work has helpfully labelled the 2 coffee machines at work for "dark roasted" and "mild".We're supposed to take turns topping up the machines (we even have a calendar with names on it!), but for inexplicable reasons I end up brewing coffee twice a day, every day.
I have put dark roasted in both machines now.
I'm a rebel.
It is. Heroin is cheap though. Put them all to sleep for the afternoon. Enjoy the peace and quiet!...I'm not a nice person today.
i stopped drinking coffee and energy drinks and switched to semi-legal pre-workout supplements. My favorite is Cannibal Ferox. It comes in Watermelon Warmachine or Mango Mutilation. To whit,Because we're constantly tinkering, trying to bring you guys the most incredibly brutal products we can, we've reformulated Cannibal Ferox and included the most insane stimulant on the market and we're the only ones who have it- Orchilean. IT IS INSANE. Orchilean is a trademarked, proprietary stimulant based on Cymbidium Georingii Extract, but googling that will not give you the whole story. This stuff is as close to DMAA as any ingredient we could find, and it is BRUTAL. This new formula makes the last one look like a strong cup of coffee
I wish someone would spike the coffee at my work. Wake me up, let me chill, its all good :)
So what did everyone get for christmas?I got nothing, so please indulge me and virtually share your presents with me, so I can go "oooh" and "aaah" over them :)
I dont get many presents these days (which is good by me). I got a few shirts from my Grandmother and a few tabletop games from my friends.
I hope those of you who celebrate had a nice Christmas.

I got some new wireless headphones for my computer - which is good because I have daily tripping issues with the wired ones. And I bought myself some Star Wars socks :)
I got an iPad from my boyfriend, a cookbook that I wanted from his brother, and a nice, soft blanket from his mom. My family doesn't celebrate until January 7th and all that I'm getting is a new iPhone. Cool by me.
I got some clothes, sneakers, blanket, nice sharp knife for cooking and some amazon gift cards. I got a Roku streaming stick and some David Foster Wallace ebooks so far. Probably going to save the balance for new releases.
I didn't really need anything for Christmas since I have too much stuff already. My mom got me a few cords of firewood and a crib for the baby. My wife got me a star wars mug and a robe and slippers. The unborn baby got more presents than I did :)
I got gift cards from amazon and half price books, which is awesome. also got a cookbook that focuses on cooking for two! stoked to try some of those out. my mom also got me this sweet ass breakfast sandwich maker. looks kinda like a george foreman grill, with different slots for the meat, cheese, egg, and bread. definitely excited to try that mf'er out.
I need a cookbook for two. Everything is for 4-8 people. I'm always halving recipes or I have entirely too much leftovers.
Dara wrote: "I need a cookbook for two. Everything is for 4-8 people. I'll post the name of the book next time I'm near it
Yeah, I have the same issue. When I make a meatloaf, I have it for like 2-3 weeks as leftovers. Lol.
Obviously doesn't help with cookbooks but a lot of recipe sites allow you to scale the serving amounts. I usually use allrecipes.com.
I have to admit I've never owned a cookbook, I follow a ton of cooking blogs tho, and most of them have the same problem. I usually just halve the recipe when possible and with soups and casseroles I freeze half of it immediately and just eat it a couple of weeks later, that way I don't have the hubs complaining that we're eating the same thing for two days straight.
I count my macros to the gram, so I am used to cooking in batches and eating the same thing 5 days straight :P

Thanks! I know America's Test Kitchen has a cookbook with recipes for 2.
Edit: I see Sky posted that on the next page and I missed it.
So true Kaleb. I couldn't eat pizza for like 5 years after college because I neglected to learn how to cook and ate SOOOO much pizza :) But the internet can be a great cooking aid now too.
Scott wrote: "So, funny story, the book I got is America's Test Kitchen's Complete Cooking for Two Cookbook"Lols
Scott wrote: "So, funny story, the book I got is America's Test Kitchen's Complete Cooking for Two Cookbook"Hahahah awesome. I have the giant 15 years of recipes one. Every recipe I've made from it has been excellent. I got Lidia's Commonsense Italian Cooking: 150 Delicious and Simple Recipes Anyone Can Master this year.
My weekend project (besides watching football, which unfortunately, will no longer be in this room after the super bowl when the flat screen gets replaced with the changing table:http://imgur.com/6xkvlmT
There are clouds and waves that go along with the decals, but we didn't like the shade of blue they came in and have to wait for the aqua ones to arrive.
Something lovely happened this morning.I do not have real-life regular friends who love books, or who even read (apart from one, but she lives in Sydney), so I'm a bit of a loner when it comes to books. Hence me hanging out here with you guys :)
A while ago I made friends with 2 women on my regular bus into town, just because we're always sitting in the same seats on the same bus every day. One of them now saves me a seat when I get on, which is nice.
We usually talk about the weather, our respective pets, or other smalltalk. Today an acquaintance of this woman got on the bus one stop after me and sat down with us, and the two started - discussing books! Needless to say, we soon had a lively conversation going, which ended with each of us promising to check out a book one of the others recommended.
"My" book to check out is The City of Dreaming Books, which is YA but judging from the blurp the theme seems right down my alley.
I might have some book friends after all! Yey!
Cool. My one book friend at work left our project awhile ago and got busy with kids outside of work, so I know how your feel.
