I don't think they ever sold those here. But maybe I just missed them..

message 702: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments I've never seen them - but I want some now.

message 703: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Tehee.... if you ping me your address I'll send you some. Big store has them.

message 704: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Oh I could never have you do that - I'm sure postage would be crazy! But I did start looking on Amazon - I don't see any that are chocolate, but I see some things I may order. There are alphabet pretzels, And I see that Trader Joes has some cinnamon alphabet cookies. I may try some - that seems like the perfect reading accompaniment - you always do the neatest things Kat!

Kat | 1178 comments ALPHABET PRETZELS ?!?!?!

I NEED A LINK!

I think postage would be cheap from here, but am not sure how US customs feel about cookies - they might confiscate them. But you need to try them, so I'd be willing to send some. If the parcel is small enough and I write "gift/present" on it, it should go through unnoticed.

Oh, another name for them is "Russian Bread", maybe that'll turn up some results...?

Edit:
Here's the link for Amazon.com for MY cookies.
https://www.amazon.com/Bahlsen-ABC-Co...

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Wow. The shipping is almost as much as the cookies

message 707: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Ooooh sweet (literally)! Those are definitely orderable! Boy those Russians know what they are doing with "bread" :) I just placed an order and I will report back.

Here are the pretzel links I saw:
https://www.amazon.com/Alphabet-Pretz...

https://www.amazon.com/Snacks-Alphabe...

I may have to try some of those too.

message 708: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I think I saw a listing with free shipping, but the packets were more expensive.

I don't know how much 8 dollars are in real money :-)

I need those pretzels.

message 709: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments .....why does it say fat-free on those pretzels? No pretzel has fat. That's like saying sugar-free tap water.

message 710: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Haha - or gulten free steak. Advertisers are so silly.

Welcome to American advertising..

Speaking of gluten-free....

The other week a coworker brought a cake to work to share with everyone. It was vegan egg-free, sugar-free, gluten-free chocolate cake.

message 713: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Wow with all of those non-ingredients it is hard to imagine it as being cake!

I saw something recently saying that Cocaine was gluten free too..

message 715: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Well, it smelled like glue and tasted like cardboard.

River pebbles are gluten-free as well.

...valuable info for the health-conscious North London soccer mums needing a pick-me-up mid-morning. They're all on it.

message 717: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments Anyone else having a problem with saving their progress on books? Seems to be happening to me only with certain books but can't figure out a pattern.

message 718: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
I haven't had that issue, no.

message 719: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments Apparently it is a side effect of the rereading feature they added.

message 720: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Oh. The wheel of Time books didn't have a previous read date, so I guess that might be why I'm not seeing it.

message 721: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments It is also causing every book added to currently reading to be added as a reread.

I was trying to update my status on a book and it doesn't take on the home page but if I go to the books page it is on there like 5 times.

message 722: by Rob, Mayor of Ghost Town (new)

Rob (robzak) | 6375 comments Mod
Hmm. Strange.

message 723: by Richard (new)

Richard Eyres (richardeyres) yeah, all books seem to have multiple read dates for me when using currently reading progress. also, progress does not show on homepage either. not a major issue, but something you would thought was basic testing.

message 724: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Kat - I got my alphabet cookies. Everyone is jealous and I MIGHT not be very good at sharing - I might give people a single letter :) Anyway, what a fun reading snack!

message 725: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Awesome!!!

I hope you like them!

I like it when my reading experience has an overall theme. SO I was eating Danish Cookies reading Uhtred, and miniature Schottish shortbread for a collection of short stories.

I even got a round pointy straw hat when I was reading a book set in Vietnam, and wore a butterfly-wing cape when reading the Butterfly Effect.

.....I swear, I'm not doing that for *every* book.

message 726: by Kat (last edited Feb 14, 2017 11:30PM) (new)

Kat | 1178 comments PS: If you want to save some for later, make sure the bag is closed tightly to keep them crisp!

They're notorious for drawing moisture from the air and going soft and stale if you don't pay attention. So if it rains outside, don't leave them lying around.

message 727: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1582 comments Thanks Kat - good tip! I may put them into a zip lock bag too, for additional air-tightness.

So...now whenever I picture you reading, I'm going to picture your matching costume or food!!

I'm kind of disappointed Kat doesn't read Saxon Stories with a replica of Serpent-Breath

Sumant | 522 comments Finally done with Winters Heart now will start with Crossroads twilight tomorrow. This book tested my patience to last extent and was really close to quitting the series as whole.

Man if Winter's Heart tested your patience, you may rage quit with Crossroads. But as Geoff said, Knife of Dreams is coming soon..

Just keeping my fingers cross from tomorrow.

message 734: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments Sumant. I thought Winter's heart was good but Crossroads was pretty damn boring. So good luck and I hope you stick with it.

I do have a machete, though. Jungles feature in a lot of books.

But my hair matches Uhtred's, if it's any consolation. I recently had to cut off a bit, because I kept accidentally sitting on it.

Kat | 1178 comments Ooooooooooooooooo look what I just ordered:

Sadly the book purse is out of stock and the messenger bag is no longer listed. Otherwise my credit card would have been on fire.

Dara (cmdrdara) I have the old version of this Bag of Holding. It's great for all my D&D stuff. It's pictured in the customer pictures at the bottom of the page.

message 740: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 97 comments I have the bag of holding (the newer one). They really are great for holding a lot of gamer stuff. I was tempted to buy the red dragon scale one when i saw it at Gamestop for 50% off, but really I just need one especially since I also have the Kaylee (Firefly) messenger bag. Love thinkgeek though.

message 741: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 97 comments I meant to say i have the Handbag of holding. (It is annoying I can't edit comments from my phone).

Well there is a way. Just not with the app. Use your browser in desktop mode. At least that's what I do, because the app is worthless for anything but doing book status updates IMHO.

message 743: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments I love the new Handbag of Holding! But I need to budget, so it had to be the backpack. I"m paying around $20 for delivery, and the Germans will levy around $10 of customs and taxes on it on delivery.

message 744: by Dara (new)

Dara (cmdrdara) Ouch.

message 745: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 97 comments Thanks Rob for the idea. :)

The backpack is pretty nice. One of my friends has it. I was lucky enough to get mine as a gift. It is the kind of thing I wouldn't buy for myself.

Bummer you have to pay the extra money Kat just because of where you live. I didn't realize there were extra fees on top of the more expensive delivery charge.

message 746: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1178 comments Well, the good thing about the high delivery and customs fees is that I will be the only one around here who has one of them. Yay!

Kat | 1178 comments OMG, UPS was already at my house this morning!

Last time I orderes something from the US it was shipped with USPS and took 6 weeks. This is.... 2 working days!
Tomorrow they will visit again, but this time at my office. Exciting!

message 750: by Bill (new)

Bill | 1596 comments I just want to keep starting new books. I'm enjoying everything I'm reading but don't seem to want to pick them up again once I put it down. Got an audiobook, 3 kindle books, a physical book and a graphic novel all going now.
