This one is from story 6: DWW on the Witches Council?
In this one, just as it is in most of the book, DWW is human.
One Monday I went to school. Well, actually every Monday I go to school, but this one was different. Not that every Monday goes exactly the same, but this Monday there was a new kid in school.
He was short, average in weight, had blue-green eyes, and jet black hair. There was also something odd about him. I couldn't figure out what it was.
There was only one time a day that I saw him and that was lunch, so Sam and I took that time to get to know him.
During this time, we found out as much as we could, but there were some things he wouldn't tell us. The things he wouldn't tell us were where he came from and where he lived now.
I thought this was sort of strange, but I liked him. I still couldn't help but wonder why I got this odd feeling when I saw him.
The next day I had every class with him. It was like he somehow found out what my schedule was and changed his to match mine.
That day at lunch I asked him, "How did you get your schedule to match mine?"
"I have my ways," he replied mysteriously.
"How did you find out what my schedule was?" I asked.
"I just did," he said.
This was very strange. I couldn't get him to give me any more information. When I thought over what he had said and how he had said it, I got an idea.
I came up with the idea that he might be a warlock. The facts added up.
First, he won't tell me where he is from, then he won't tell me where he lives, next his schedule magically happens to match mine, and finally he won't tell me how he found out my schedule or how he got his to match mine.
I decided to try the Other Realm for some information.
In the Other Realm, I saw Trom and asked him about the boy.
Trom told me to check with the Other Realm information service. He said all I had to do was call them, which I could even do from the Mortal Realm.
I did this and found out that the boy, whose name is Sampson, was definitely a warlock. I then called Sam and told her to come over to my house.
When Sam got to my house, she asked, "Why did you call me?"
"I know a lot more about Sampson," I said.
"How?" she asked.
"You know how he was keeping information from us?"
"Yeah."
"Well, I just called the Other Realm and..." I started to explain.
"You can call the Other Realm?"
"Yes. Anyway, Sampson is a warlock."
"That explains a lot," Sam said.
"Yeah, I know."
"So, when should we tell him we know?"
"Tomorrow, but I will have to be the one to tell him."
"Why?" Sam asked.
"I am a witch," I reminded her.
"Oh, I guess that makes sense."
The next day I told Sampson that Sam and I knew that he was a warlock. When he asked how we found out, I told him that I was a witch.
Afterward he told us that he used to live in the Other Realm, but now he sort of lives between Realms. Sam was a little confused when Sampson said this, but I understood what he meant.
Sampson also told us that he was working towards being on the Witches Council. I thought that was great until later when I found out why.

This one is just a little piece from the first chapter in the 5th book in the Mortal Realm Witch series:
Asantra had just returned home after having spent all afternoon with The Fire Pack when DWW gave her the news, "Asantra," DWW said sounding serious.
"What?" Asantra asked nervously.
"You have been with The Fire Pack for a long time now..." DWW began hesitantly. She didn't really want to tell Asantra but it was time.
"Yeah,so?" Asantra asked.
"Well, when I brought them into the Mortal Realm the goal was for the pack to become a "true" wolf pack," DWW said.
"They are," Asantra replied.
"No, they aren't," DWW said, "At least not yet."
"Well?" Asantra asked waiting for DWW to explain.
"Well, they can never be a "true" wolf pack until they no longer need a protector," DWW said.
"What are you saying?" Asantra asked.
"I'm saying, it's time for you to leave the pack." DWW said.

They were alone now and they didn't know why. Just a few hours ago the two spotted Mini Rex bunnies known as Chibi (white with black spots), and Kojikaki (white with brown spots), had been napping comfortably with their two littermates, both of which were male.
Earlier that day all four bunnies had been together then suddenly unfamiliar humans came and took some of them away. The first to go had been the first born of the litter as well as the biggest and most dominant. He was all black and known as Boss. This was the name he gave himself. Chibi and Kojikaki were not sorry to see him go.
After Boss was gone things were peaceful again for several hours but then the peace was disturbed again by another human who immediately took Chibi and Kojkaki's other brother away. He was an all brown bunny known as Cinnamon. Cinnamon was not as dominant as Boss, but he still liked to boss Kojikaki around. Chibi didn't get along well with Cinnamon either, but this wasn't because of dominance. When it came to this issue Cinnamon and Chibi were practically equals.
The reason Chibi and Cinnamon didn't get along was because Chibi had no interest in bossing Kojikaki around like his brothers did. Kojikaki was the smallest and least dominent of the litter which made her an easy target for her brothers.
Instead of bossing around Kojikaki, Chibi would fight with Cinnamon and Boss to protect his little sister. No one ever won the fights between Chibi and Cinnamon because the two bunnies were very evenly matched fighters. While Chibi could fight with Cinnamon and not win or lose, Boss was another story.
Once Chibi did fight Boss to protect Kojikaki. Chibi lost the battle and ended up having to se a vet to get stitches in his nose. After that Chibi knew that Boss wasn't just bigger than himself but stronger as well. Up until that point Chibi wouldn't let Boss tell him what to do, but after losing the fight, even Chibi would do anything Boss said to.
As Kojikaki watched her brothers being taken one after the other she started to worry. She didn't want to be seperated from Chibi. Kojikaki looked over at her brother and could tell that he was having similiar thoughts.
Soon another human came, and without even looking at Kojikaki, went to grab Chibi. Thinking quickly Chibi did the only thing he could think of and bit the hand of the human as soon as it came close enough to him. The hand quickly retreated and the human left.
"Why did you do that?" Kojikaki squeaked fearfully.
"Because we are going to stay together no matter what happens," Chibi replied determindely.
The next thing the two of them knew they were being thrown into a box. The box was then carried into a car and about half an hour later they were being dumped out of the box and into grass. The human who dumped them then took the box, got into the car, and drove away.
Now the bunnies were alone and scared.
"Do you think that he will come back?" Kojikaki asked referring to the human who dumped them.
"I don't think so," Chibi replied.
"Well then what are we going to do?" Kojikaki asked anxiously.
"I don't know, but don't worry, I can and will protect you," Chibi said puffing out his chest and trying to make himself look tough. All he really succeeded in doing was messing up his fur a little.
"Yeah, you look really tough," Kojikaki told him laughing a little.
"Hey, it will work when I'm older!" Chibi replied defensively. At the moment they were both three months old.
"I'm sure it will," Kojikaki said warmly.
Happy that his sister was more relaxed, Chibi decided to look around. He noticed that they were at the end of a large field. Behind them was a parking lot, which was empty. Ahead of them were lots of grass, wild flowers, and a small pond. In the far distance Chibi could make out a road with houses on the other side of it. On the left, in the distance, there was woodland. To the right, in the distance, was a small shed which stood alone surrounded by nothing but grass and a few trees in the back of it.
Chibi knew that he and Kojikaki would have to find shelter soon because it was beginning to become dark out. He started heading in the direction of the shed. Kojikaki followed him slowly. She had also seen the shed and knew that this is where Chibi was going. She was a little worried about what might already be living in the shed but didn't feel that it would do any good to tell Chibi what she was thinking.
Upon reaching the shed Chibi wanted to go straight in, but Kojikaki stopped him. She began sniffing the area around the shed.
"What are you doing?" Chibi asked curiously.
"I'm checking for other animal scents," Kojikaki replied, "Something could already be living here."
"So what if something is? Let's just go inside," Chibi said impatiently.
"Chibi, if possible we want to avoid fighting. We have lived indoors all our lives and we don't know what any outdoor creatures are like. All I know is that there are many dangerous ones and because of this even the ones that aren't probably know how to fight way better than either one of us, possibly better than Boss as well," Kojikaki informed him.
Remembering his battle with Boss, Chibi decided that Kojikaki was right; they didn't want to end up in a fight that they may not be able to win.
"It's clear," Kojikaki said as soon as she finished checking the outside of the shed.
"So we can go in now?" Chibi asked.
"Yes, but we should still go in carefully just in case," Kojikaki warned.
"In case what?" Chibi asked confused.
"In case there is something living in there that never goes outside," Kojikaki replied.
"I doubt anything like that exists," Chibi said.
"Maybe not, but we should still..." Kojikaki didn't get to finish what she was saying. She had just noticed that her brother wasn't there anymore.
She was about to call him when a voice from inside the shed said, "It's empty."

"How do I find Pit bull Park?" Dreamchaser asked.
"Follow Sirius," Tailwagger replied simply.
"Who's Sirius?" Dreamchaser asked confused. No one in the pack ever mentioned a dog by this name before.
"You mean what's Sirius?" Tailwagger corrected.
"Sirius isn't a dog?" Dreamchaser asked confused, "Is he a cat?"
"No," Tailwagger replied, "Sirius is a star, but not just any star. Sirius is the dog star."
"So how is Sirius going to help me find Pit bull Park?" Dreamchaser asked.
Tailwagger explained, "Rumor suggests that if a dog follows the dog star..."
"You mean Sirius," Dreamchaser cut in.
"Yes, Sirius," Tailwagger replied. Continuing he said, "If a dog follows Sirius..."
"Right, the dog star," Dreamchaser said interrupting Tailwagger once again.
"Do you want to know how to get to Pit bull Park or not?" Tailwagger asked growling slightly.
"Of course I do!" Dramchaser said.
"Then stop interrupting and listen," Tailwagger replied. Then getting back to his explaination he said, "If a dog follows Sirius, the dog star, then he or she will be led to a place where every dog is welcome regardless of their breeding and past."
"And this place is known as Pit bull Park?" Dreamchaser asked.
"Yes," Tailwagger confirmed.
"So then if it's as good of a place as the rumors suggest, why doesn't every dog go there?" Dreamchaser asked.
"Many dogs believe that Pit bull Park is nothing more than a rumor. To them it just doesn't exist," Tailwagger explained.
"But what about you and the rest of the pack. Whey haven't you guys gone when you believe in it?" Dreamchaser asked.
"Most dogs that believe in Pit bull Park, such as myself and my pack, don't go because the journey is long and full of danger especially if you are a Pit bull or a breed considered to be dangerous," Tailwagger explained.
"Because of the humans?" Dreamchaser asked.
"Exactly," Tailwagger replied.
"So when do I leave?" Dreamchaser asked.
"Nightfall," Tailwagger said.
That night Tailwagger lead Dreamchaser outside the hideout. Dreamchaser looked up at the sky and saw many stars but couldn't find the one that looked like a dog. He thought that the dog star would look like a dog, but all of the stars looked the same to him.
"Which star is Sirius?" Dreamchaser asked Tailwagger.
Tailwagger showed him and said, "Remember the direction you are traveling, Sirius may not be visible every night."
"It won't?" Dreamchaser asked.
"No, but even when you can't see it, the dog star will be there," Tailwagger replied.

"If both Pack and Colony are to survive what's coming, they will need to become something larger," The starry lion said.
"But, Leo, dogs and cats have been enemies for as long as anyone can remember!" The starry dog replied.
"We aren't," Leo said.
"You are a lion," The starry dog replied.
"Yes, Sirius, I am," Leo said, "But I still belong to the feline familiy which makes me a cat."
Sirius thought about this for a moment before saying, "I suppose you are right, but do you think the dogs and cats on Earth will be able to get along?"
"They won't have a choice," Leo replied.

The day the Star Power Puppy was born another puppy died. Before you get the wrong idea, it wasn't Star Power's fault. The puppy that died was Star Powers brother. The reson the puppy died was because it was born with a twisted paw.
You might be wondering how a twisted paw could kill a puppy. The answer would be thta it wasn't the paw that killed him at all. A vet could easily have fixed the problem; rather the puppy was killed by a human. Why did the human do this? Well, the answer is a simple one. The human was the owner of a puppy mill. To her the twisted paw was a sign of imperfection, but why kill the puppy instead of taking it the the vet's to have the paw fixed? Once again the anser is simple. Vet's cost money.
The woman's only goal was to make money by selling puppies. Taking the puppy to the vet, to her, would be nothing but a loss of profit, and who would want a puppy like that anyway? The woman would never be able to sell the pup for much and maybe not at all. To her killing the puppy was the best solution, and here is where the story begins.
After killing Star Power's brother, the woman returned to a closed section of her basement in which was the whelping area, or the area in which the puppies, and her profits, were born. In this area the woman checked the rest of the mothers and their puppies. At each dog area she stopped to decide the fates of teh mothers and puppies.
The first few areas had mothers with older puppies. Although too young to be separated from their mom's and littermates, the woman wanted to rebreed the mothers as soon as possible, so the mom's and puppies would be separated anyway. This way the next litters would be born sooner and the woman could get money for the pups sooner. The woman didn't see any good reason not to do this, although there are many. As long as she was making money, that's all that mattered to her.
The woman kept going down the long rows of cages making decisions such as; "This dog isn't producing enough high quality puppies, she will have to be killed.", "No one will want a puppy like this, I will kill it as well.", "This puppy isn't perfect but I should still make a decent profit on it, I'll put it on discount,", and "This litter is too sickly, I'll have to kill them all."
Upon stopping to look at Star Power's litter, one of the previously mentioned decisions was made for him and his mother. Luckily for Star Power the woman decided that he would be a discount puppy. Star Power's mother on the other hand, or paw, had only produced three puppies, and according to the woman only Star Power's sister could be sold at top price. As soon as the woman decided that the puppies were old enough to be separated from their mom, just like Star Power's brother, she would kill his mom as well.
Star Power's mom knew of her fate and on that day, when the time came, she told Star Power and her sister that she preferred it this way. When Star Power asked why she replied, "Look around you pup, can't you see. The woman doesn't care about us. To her we are only here to make her money," Star Power's mom paused for a moment then continued, "She only keeps us alive for this one reason, and even so we barely live. My only purpose has been to have puppies, and although I love every puppy I have, having litter after litter with no breaks between is nothing but torture, especially when most of us, mothers and puppies, are sick."
Star Powers mom scented the air. Star Power figured she must be smelling the air for a scent of the human. There was silence for a few moments before Star Power figured she was done talking and was surprised when his mom continued.
"Even now, you and your sister have the scent of sickness on you. Many puppies are born or develop deadly and highly contagious diseases in this place. Hopefully you and your sister don't have one of these diseases." This is where Star Power's mother stopped talking.
Star Power and his sister had never really understood, and were unable to distinguish the scents around them. Now they were old enough and upon scenting their surroundings the strongest scents were that of sickness and death. It was in the way the dogs themselves smelled, as well as the droppings they left behind, which in many areas of the dogs enclosures, were so thick that the dogs had developed infections from living in these bad conditions all the time.
The woman almost never cleaned up the basement and on the rare occasion that she did she only cleaned enough so that she could avoid being caught running a puppy mill. Seeing that her pups were beginning to understand Star Power's mother said, "So now you understand why we welcome death. Too many puppies are born and killed here from both disease and human. Others will be sold to pet stores where they will be purchased by unsuspecting humans only for their new owners to discover their new puppies are sick. Many of these puppies will die shortly after the discovery is made." Star Power's mother then looked away from her pups and looked around the basement. Coming down the basement steps she saw and heard the human coming. When the human stopped at Star Power's enclosure to collect his mom, Star Power's mom turned to look one last time at her pups and said, "I am happy that I will no longer be a part of this," and with a friendly wag of her tail she willingly let the human take her away.
That night was the last time Star Power ever saw his mom and sister. The two puppies would be split up and put into new enclosures to be sold.

"Trixie, poachers are after the East wolf pack!"
"All right Miles, I'm on it!" I quickly changed into an Eagle and took off.
My name is Trixie. I can change into any creature and take on any look that I want. I can't say what I look like because I don't have one true form, which means that I am whatever I want to be. At the moment I was a Brown Eagle and I was on my way to seve the East wolf pack from the poachers that Miles saw.
Miles is a Brown Eagle. Besides this he is also my best friend. He can speak two languages, bird and human. He helps me out with my job, which is to save animals from human threats such as poaching, illegal and out of season hunting, and deforestation. Miles helps me to locate any threats to animals so that I can put a stop to it.
As I flew I scanned the forest looking for the pack. It wasn't long until I located them. I landed, and just as I did I turned into a black wolf. I chose a wolf because I had located two gray wolves hiding behind some trees. I slowly went over to them. When I approached them I asked, "Are you members of the East wolf pack?"
"Yes, the pack is being chased by humans!" One of the wolves said.
"I know, and I am here to help you." I said.
"How?" The wolf asked.
"If I can distract the poachers, the humans chasing the pack, do you think that you can round up the rest of your pack and hide?" I asked.
"I think so, but what can you do?" The wolf asked.
Before I had time to answer three gray wolves ran past us followed by poachers. I then changed into a rare Ethiopian wolf and barked, knowing that the poachers would hear me and give chase. I just hoped that they would be distracted enough by seeing a rare money making opportunity and not think about the fact that the Ethiopian wolf is totally out of place around here.
The poachers stopped chasing the gray wolves and turned to me. Immediately I ran off in the opposite direction of the wolves and led them to the edge of the forest. At the edge of the forest I changed into a black wolf and hid in the shadows for a minute. I howled a quick message to the pack letting them know the poachers location and to make sure they stayed hidden until I told them to come out. I then changed into a small bird and flew up into a tree above the poachers.
The poachers had heard me howl and went to where they knew the sound had come from. They spent the next half hour searching for a wof that was no longer there. Soon the confused men turned back to once again chase after the East wolf pack. I followed close behind, flying from tree to tree.

"Welcome to my game," the vampire said, "I am Floxe."
"How do we play?" A boy asked.
"You need to open the treasure chest at the end of each level. The key to open each chest can be found somewhere in the level." The vampire explained.
"How many levels are there?" I asked.
"In total, there are five, but only one of you will move on to the next level." Floxe said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because, only the first player to make it across the crocodiles gets to finish playing level one. The rest of you will have to wait and see what happens. If something happens to the current player the game starts over and one of the remaining four will get to play. It keeps going on like this until there are no players left. So, who wants to try first?" Floxe said.
"I will," The girl standing next to me said. She jumped onto the first crocodile which immediately threw her off into the water.
"Too bad, you lose, who's next?" The vampire asked.
"I'll go," I said knowing that I was the one who had to make it through. I carefully studied the area for a minute and realized that there was a pole in between the first and second crocodile. I jumped onto the first crocodile and reached for the pole at the same time. I made it and held on as the crocodile tried to throw me off. I waited until it was still and then jumped to the second crocodile. As soon as I landed I grabbed the pole again. While I was standing on the second crocodile I noticed a floating fock above my head and saw that there was something glowing on it.
As soon as the second crocodile was calm I let go of the pole. I thn jumped up and grabbed the edge of the rock. I pulled myself up onto the rock and walked up to the glowing object. It was a container labled crocodile powder. I turned the container around and looked on the back of it. It said that all I had to do was dump the powder into the water and it would put the crocodiles to sleep for a few minutes. I did this and immediately the crocodiles went to sleep. When I was sure that they were really sleeping I jumped down off the rock and landed on the second crocodile. From there I jumped to the third crocodile, the fourth, and finally I jumped to land on the other side.
At the other side there was a cave where I could see Floxe watching me with an evil look. He walked out of the cave and used some sort of magic to produce some spiked, rounded objects which were also flaming. He started throwing them at me. On the far wall I noticed another floating rock, and while dodging whatever the vampire was throwing, I ran over to them. I climbed up the rock and noticed that there were two more floating rocks above me, leading to a platform.
After climbing the rocks and reaching the platform I realized that I was at the end of the first level. I saw the treasure chest, but I didn't see the key. I looked around and soon spotted it floating over what looked like a giant rubber band attatched to two poles, at the other end of the platform. The vampire was still throwing things at me and every time I moved forward one of the things would make me have to jump back. Then all of a sudden they stopped coming. The vampire seemed to give up and go back into the cave. I then quickly moved forward and tried to grab the key but my hand went right through it. I was confused, I should have been able to take it, so why couldn't I? It was then that things were calm enough for me to remember my training that I had to go through before coming to Virtual Reality.
In Virtual Reality some things are virtual and some are real. The virtual things are normally harmless, but anything virtual can be made real. There are many different ways to do this. Sometimes the method used depends on the object itself and some objects can be made real in multiple ways. I realized that the key was virtual and I needed to bring it into reality. I remembered that the oversized rubber band was actually known as a reality band and can be used to make virtual objects real.
I pulled back on the band and then let it go. It hit the key which went flying down to the ground. I ran down after it and noticed that Floxe was also moving towards it. I got to the key just before he did. I then ran back up the rocks with Floxe chasing me. Actually he stopped chasing me once I climbed the first rock. For some reason he wouldn't climb them.
At the treasure chest I inserted the key into the lock and opened it. I reached in and pulled out a chain. I wondered what it was for. Until I had more pieces to figure it out I put the chain in my pocket.
"Congratulations on completing level one," Floxe said, "Are you ready for level two?"
"I guess so," I replied.
"Good, then come with me." Floxe then opened a door that led into a long, dark hallway. I followed him to the end of it wher he opened a door to the right and told me to go in. I walked into a brightly lit room with fans on the ceiling in all four corners of the room. The key was floating in the center of the room, near the ceiling. There were also beds that were attatched to the floor in all four corners of the room and several small flap doors surrounding the room on the walls near the floor and the ceiling.

At my house, once we found Max, we asked him about the witch hunters.
"First don't use any magic in the same room as them if you are indoors, and if you are outdoors don't use magic within their sight or within ten feet of them," Max said.
"Oops," I replied, realizing that Taron and I had been in a corner where they couldn't see or hear us, but we had still been in the same room as them.
"You used magic around them, didn't you Turtle?" Max asked me.
"Yes," I confessed.
"Then they will already be following you and Taron," Max said.
"Why Taron?" I asked.
"Because witch hunters are also known as magic hunters. They hunt anyone with magic, not just witches," Max explained.
"I think that we should go to the Other Realm and tell DWW about them," I suggested.
"That's probably a good idea," Max agreed.
I had just started to zap the three of us into the Other Realm when Max said, "Turtle, you can't bring Taron with us!"
"Max, there are three witch hunters nearby. I am not going to leave him behind!" I said.
"Fine, but don't blame me when you get turned into a familiar for several hundred years!" he exclaimed with a wag of his tail.
"I won't," I agreed smiling back at him.
I looked around and realized that we weren't in the Mortal Realm anymore, but we weren't in the Other Realm either.
I could clearly see both Realms and looking past the Other Realm I could see dragons, unicorns, vampires, centaurs, minotaur's, and many other creatures.
I could also see areas that looked like they were completely underwater and other places that looked as if they had almost no water at all. There was also a place with nothing but swamp-like land and lots of trees.
In that place I could also see many creatures that blended into trees like a small cat with chipmunk like markings.
"Max, where are we?" I asked.
"I don't know. It looks like some kind of..."
"...Map World," Taron cut in.
"Yeah, a Map World," Max said.
"It does resemble a holographic map," I said. "We should probably let DWW know about this place as well as the witch hunters."
"We can do that, but first let's explore!" Taron urged.

This first excerpt is from story 4 in Mortal Realm Witch: Learning About Magic and is called: Wolf Magic.
The wolf was alert. Her ears were listening to all the sounds surrounding her. Her nose was sniffing constantly for danger. She was on a mission: to protect two wolf pups.
These wolf pups are no ordinary wolves, for they have magic. They have magical powers in their paws. Specifically, they have magic paws.
Their power is very limited at this point, but over time it will increase rapidly.
The wolf herself also has magical powers. She knows she must teach them to use their magical powers well. The pups are not her own, but she is in charge of them because their parents have no magic.
The pups call their protector wolf Demon because it is what her enemies call her. Like any wolf, she avoids enemies as much as possible and has taught the pups to do the same.
This is another, later part of the story: Wolf Magic. There were things I didn't want to give away so I decided to create two exerpts from different parts of this story. (DWW is the main character of the book and this story. In this story she is in wolf form and although I mention that the wolf pups, Witch and Warlock, call her Demon, throughout this story I still call her DWW.)
DWW started sniffing the ground searching for a strong scent of rabbit. Witch and Warlock copied her. As soon as DWW found fresh rabbit scent, she gave the pups a low warning growl.
Witch knew that this meant that they would have to start paying extra careful attention to how they moved and how much noise they made.
But Warlock, even though he had heard DWW and knew what the growl meant, was so involved in tracking the rabbit that he stepped on a twig. The crackling of the twig scared him and he jumped backwards right into Witch.
Witch growled at him and the two pups started play fighting with each other. DWW growled at them and immediately they stopped fighting and looked at her guiltily.
After this they resumed the hunt. Warlock was now paying attention to the rabbit scent as well as where he was putting his paws.
It wasn't long before a rabbit was in sight of the three wolves. As soon as Witch spotted it she yipped excitedly scaring the rabbit. The rabbit took off and jumped into its nearest burrow.
DWW chased after it with the pups following closely behind her. She knew that the rabbit wouldn't come back out for a while so she decided to use this time to teach the pups some patience.
The wind was also beginning to blow a little at this time so she also decided to teach them how paying attention to the wind can help them to hunt successfully.
DWW positioned the pups near the burrow, but not too close to it. She also made sure that the wind was blowing the scent of the wolves away from it.
There was tall grass surrounding the burrow which DWW and the pups used to hide themselves from view. Now all they had to do was wait for the rabbit to come back out.
After what felt like hours, a rabbit began to appear. It started to come out of the burrow, but then it stopped and sniffed the air before coming out.
Next it began to hop slowly away from the burrow, stopping to sniff the air every once in a while. Finally it began to feel safe and relaxed. It hopped towards a very green patch of grass.
DWW gave the pups a low, firm bark to tell the pups to stay and watch her as she slowly crept towards the rabbit. As she did this, she moved around, using trees and tall grass for cover. She wanted to move around to the front of the rabbit knowing that directly in front of the rabbit was its blind spot.
All rabbits see around them better than directly in front, so DWW knew that she was less likely to be spotted by approaching from directly in front of it.
DWW crouched as low as she could get in some tall grass and froze. The rabbit was still relaxed and too busy eating to notice her.
She waited for the right moment, and then rushed it head on. At the last second, the rabbit noticed her and tried to run away, but it was too late; DWW had caught it.
After DWW returned to the pups, she told them that next time a rabbit came out of the burrow it would be theirs to catch. But this time they would use a different strategy. DWW explained what they would do. Then she and the pups returned their attention to the burrow.
When the next rabbit emerged, Witch and Warlock were ready. They watched until the rabbit made its way to the same patch of grass as the previous one before acting.
Warlock moved to just in front of the burrow and crouched as low as he could get. Meanwhile, Witch crept around to the front of the rabbit in the same area as DWW had been.
As soon as she was in position, instead of waiting, she rushed directly at it. Almost immediately the rabbit saw her and took off towards its burrow with Witch almost on its tail.
The rabbit was so scared that it didn't see Warlock waiting for it. When it was close enough, Warlock ran towards it.
The rabbit was now in between both pups. The rabbit quickly turned around, but not before Warlock managed to grab onto the back end of the rabbit. Witch used this moment to kill it.
The wolf pups ran back to DWW and she praised them on their catch.
DWW explained that all animals had to hunt to survive, and that it was part of the laws of nature.
After the hunt, the wolves ate the rabbits where they were before returning home.
The next night DWW decided to show them how to hunt bigger animals as a pack, although they weren't a big enough pack to actually catch anything in the usual way.
DWW found a small doe, and with the pups watching, she created five duplicates of herself so that it would look as if a whole pack of wolves were surrounding the deer.
After doing this she explained to Witch and Warlock that wolf packs would usually work as a team to hunt deer and other large animals.
Before demonstrating how they could use duplicates to hunt, she tells them that the duplicates have no attack power.
This is becasue they are more like ghosts than anything else. They are used to scare only because the animal being hunted can run right through them, and each duplicate could only be controlled one at a time.
She also warned them that until they are more experienced hunters they can't try this method on deer or any other large animal.
DWW then began to move towards the deer. She did her best to creep up on it. As soon as the deer was almost in her reach, it noticed her and started running.
DWW observed what direction it was moving in and chased after it while moving the duplicate that was in the direction the deer was heading forwards. The deer saw this and turned left.
DWW then moved another duplicate to rush it from the front. The deer then ran to the right.
DWW did the same thing again. The deer now was unsure of where to go and turned around to face her, ready to fight.
